The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story is a documentary feature that tells the story of famed boy band impresario Lou Pearlman. The film tracks his life from his childhood in Queens, through discovering mega-bands *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys, and chronicles his later life, including his perpetration of one of the largest Ponzi schemes in American history.
This is the first time this story has ever been told from the perspective of the people involved, from the Boy Band members themselves, to Ponzi scheme investors to Lou’s childhood friends. Ok so, this isn't the REAL Babadook book (otherwise I'd be in a bit of a dangerous scenario!) but this is a genuinely hand-made licensed product which Jennifer Kent (The Babadook Director) organised, oversaw and worked towards herself. As I explain in the video, this was made to order after a very short campaign ran between October and November 2014 following the movie's international release.

The South Korean music genre of K-pop has been evolving for decades, but it wasn’t until the 2010s where it really started taking off worldwide. With the easy accessibility of YouTube, K-pop videos started becoming viral sensations in the United States and beyond. By 2017, the K-pop boy band BTS was one of the most-watched artists on the site.

It looks like K-Pop stars are truly living the life. They have screaming fans and hit records. What else could they want? But there is a disturbing truth behind being in the Korean Pop industry. Here is the Dark Side of Being a K-Pop Star.
First, the bands may be making money, but they aren’t exactly living in the lap of luxury. Most bands tend to live together in what are called compounds or dormitories. For new bands, compounds can be extremely tiny and sparse. It’s not the living situation that you would expect your favorite star to be in, is it?
Second, they are encouraged to go on extreme diets. In this industry, thin is always better. You can find stories everywhere of K-Pop stars who only eat one meal a day or limit their calories to a measly 600 a day. One band was even rumored to just drink water for a week before they were introduced to the world.
Finally, when dieting isn’t enough, stars are persuaded into getting plastic surgery. The KPop industry is so obsessed with perfection that stars who want to make it big usually must turn to the knife. These procedures can range from a simple nose job to bone shaving.
Whether it be their love lives, the mental and physical abuse, or the intense restrictions, there is a lot that you don’t know about the lives of your favorite K-Pop stars. Stay tuned to The Dark Side of Being a K-Pop star to find out why one idol was forced to shave her head.

Based on a True Story (Sick of It All album)
Based on a True Story is the ninth studio album by Sick of It All. It was released on April 20, 2010, on the band's new label Century Media Records (though Abacus, their previous label, was a subsidiary of Century Media). It was the band's first album in four years, following the release of Death to Tyrants in 2006, the longest gap between albums in Sick of It All's career. Based on a True story was also available as an extremely limited German import only version that was packaged with a DVD titled New York Vs. London. The DVD, which was recorded, edited and produced by Universal Warning Records, features a 5-camera shoot of 3 songs from a sold-out show in New York City from January 2008 – and a 3-camera shoot from a sold-out 2008 show in London. There is also a 15-minute European tour documentary that glues the program together.

True Story (Terror Squad album)
True Story is the second studio album by hip-hop group Terror Squad. The album was a hit, reaching number 7 in the US. The album features the hit single titled "Lean Back", which hit the Billboard Hot 100 at number 1 and reached number 24 in the UK charts. The single "Lean Back" also has an official remix featuring Eminem, Lil Jon and Mase.
Late rappers Big L and Big Pun appear together on the song titled "Bring 'Em Back". Big Pun was originally a member of the group and some of his verses are reprised on this track.

True Story: A Novel
True Story: A Novel is a book by Bill Maher. It was Maher's first book, and his only novel. It was first published in 1994 by Random House and was published in 2000 by Simon & Schuster. The book is an episodic novel detailing the true accounts of Maher and other stand-up comics in the late 1970s and early 80s.
Production
Maher began writing True Story whilst he was working in comedy clubs, shortly after graduating from Cornell University with a degree in English.
Reception
Richard Bernstein from The New York Times gave a mixed to favourable review, stating "when True Story works, it works because of Mr. Maher's energetic intelligence and his creation of characters whose prolonged sophomorism has distinct qualities", as did Raw Sawhill from The New York Times, who stated that whilst the first half of the book seemed like "an underdramatized blur", Maher "comes through with a handful of well-conceived scenes" in its second half.

Hilary Duff
Hilary Erhard Duff (born September 28, 1987) is an American actress and singer. Duff began her acting career at a young age, and quickly became labeled a teen idol as the starring titular character in the television series Lizzie McGuire (2001–04). As I explain in the video, this was made to order after a very short campaign ran between October and November 2014 following the movie's international release.

First, the bands may be making money, but they aren’t exactly living in the lap of luxury. Most bands tend to live together in what are called compounds or dormitories. For new bands, compounds can be extremely tiny and sparse. It’s not the living situation that you would expect your favorite star to be in, is it?
Second, they are encouraged to go on extreme diets. In this industry, thin is always better. You can find stories everywhere of K-Pop stars who only eat one meal a day or limit their calories to a measly 600 a day. One band was even rumored to just drink water for a week before they were introduced to the world.
Finally, when dieting isn’t enough, stars are persuaded into getting plastic surgery. The KPop industry is so obsessed with perfection that stars who want to make it big usually must turn to the knife. These procedures can range from a simple nose job to bone shaving.

The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story is a documentary feature that tells the story of famed boy band impresario Lou Pearlman. The film tracks his life from his childhood in Queens, through discovering mega-bands *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys, and chronicles his later life, including his perpetration of one of the largest Ponzi schemes in American history.
This is the first time this story has ever been told from the perspective of the people involved, from the Boy Band members themselves, to Ponzi scheme investors to Lou’s childhood friends. Interviewees include : Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick (NSYNC), AJ McLean (Backstreet Boys), Aaron Carter and Ashley Parker Angel (OTown).

Ok so, this isn't the REAL Babadook book (otherwise I'd be in a bit of a dangerous scenario!) but this is a genuinely hand-made licensed product which Jennifer Kent (The Babadook Director) organised, oversaw and worked towards herself. As I explain in the video, this was made to order after a very short campaign ran between October and November 2014 following the movie's international release.
I unfortunately couldn't find any information online and have deleted a lot of the emails that were sent to me during production so I'm sorry if I can't answer any of your questions accurately :(

It looks like K-Pop stars are truly living the life. They have screaming fans and hit records. What else could they want? But there is a disturbing truth behind being in the Korean Pop industry. Here is the Dark Side of Being a K-Pop Star.
First, the bands may be making money, but they aren’t exactly living in the lap of luxury. Most bands tend to live together in what are called compounds or dormitories. For new bands, compounds can be extremely tiny and sparse. It’s not the living situation that you would expect your favorite star to be in, is it?
Second, they are encouraged to go on extreme diets. In this industry, thin is always better. You can find stories everywhere of K-Pop stars who only eat one meal a day or limit their calories to a measly 600 a day. One band was even rumored to just drink water for a week before they were introduced to the world.
Finally, when dieting isn’t enough, stars are persuaded into getting plastic surgery. The KPop industry is so obsessed with perfection that stars who want to make it big usually must turn to the knife. These procedures can range from a simple nose job to bone shaving.
Whether it be their love lives, the mental and physical abuse, or the intense restrictions, there is a lot that you don’t know about the lives of your favorite K-Pop stars. Stay tuned to The Dark Side of Being a K-Pop star to find out why one idol was forced to shave her head.
