Lesley Lawson (née Hornby; born 19 September 1949), widely known by the nickname Twiggy, is an English model, actress and singer. In the mid-1960s, she became a prominent British teenage model of swinging sixties London with others such as Penelope Tree.
Twiggy was initially known for her thin build (thus her nickname) and her androgynous look consisting of large eyes, long eyelashes, and short hair. In 1966, she was named "The Face of 1966" by the Daily Express and voted British Woman of the Year. By 1967, Twiggy had modelled in France, Japan, and the U.S., and landed on the covers of Vogue and The Tatler. Her fame had spread worldwide.
After modelling, Twiggy went on to enjoy a successful career as a screen, stage and television actress. As an actress, Twiggy's role in The Boy Friend (1971) brought her two Golden Globe Awards. She has hosted her own series, Twiggy's People, in which she interviewed celebrities, and also appeared as a judge on the reality show America's Next Top Model. Her 1998 autobiography, Twiggy in Black and White, entered the bestseller lists. Since 2005, she has modelled for Marks and Spencer, most recently to promote their recent rebranding, appearing in television advertisements and print media, alongside Myleene Klass, Erin O'Connor, Lily Cole and others. In 2012, she worked alongside Marks & Spencer's designers to launch an exclusive clothing collection for the M&S Woman range.

Day by day, he slaves away at the local burger joint, only to return home to a paraplegic father, whose own dreams of happiness have faded away in an alcoholic haze. Nonetheless, Billy tries to bond with his delusional father, but cannot break through the many layers of pain and regret that surround him. Frustrated, Billy longs to escape the dead-end existence that has engulfed his father, and now appears to be closing in on him as well. It's only within the confines of his small bedroom that Billy truly feels alive. Closing his eyes, he allows his vivid imagination to take over, sweeping him away from his bleak surroundings, and into a world of fantasy. In his dreams, Billy is no longer the misfit, but a brave warrior roaming freely. Along with his best friend Sarah, Billy travels blissfully through this imaginary world, only to awaken once again to the grim reality he struggles so hard to escape. In an attempt to rejuvenate his father, Billy hatches a plot to seek revenge on the man who allegedly crippled his father many years ago. This decision puts Billy face to face with the one thing he has yearned for so long to attain: a purpose. As Billy embarks on his mission, he soon finds that things aren't always what they seem, as his mission for revenge may ultimately become a mission for his very own survival.

Twiggy Biography Born Lesley Hornby to working class parents, she was the girl gifted with the cute face who went on to become Twiggy, the female persona of London in the swinging Sixties and the world's first Supermodel.
Model, actress and fashion designer Twiggy is credited with being the world’s first supermodel. Born Lesley Hornby, her life changed for ever when, aged 16, a reporter spotted her photo on the wall of a Mayfair hairdresser and ran a story describing her as the ‘face of the 60s'. Twiggy says: “It was madness. I was suddenly in the newspapers and being flown all around the world, we were a very ordinary, happy family, and I had a happy childhood. “I grew up in Neasden, which is a suburb of north-west London. We didn’t have lots of money but, you know, we had a car, we had a telly. I had my mum and dad; I had my sisters. “He was brilliant, my dad. I was devoted to him. That doesn’t mean I didn’t love and adore mum, but she was much, much more complicated. She suffered with her nerves. “M...
Swinging London in the Sixties was a time of optimism, creativity and enthusiasm. At the centre of this pop rebellion was a new aristocracy, both colourful and insouciant; one that was ennobled by the magazine covers and the hit parade. And one face more than any other was the incarnation of that cultural revolution: the face of Twiggy.

If you think about Twiggy, then some of the first things you remember a top model of the 60s. It is in the 70s you think of Twiggy as a singer. Here I Go Again, in my opinion, one of the best songs from 1976 but failed and was not a success, I do not understand even today. In Denmark it was played in the most popular radio program with Christian Flagstad, Fanfare and Aftenposten. But it was not a hit in Denmark. That must be one of the reasons why Germans always mentions Danes as; Die dummen Dänen

It is hard for anybody who achieves celebrity in a different occupation to make it as a singer, perhaps because so many celebrities who can't sing cash in on their celebrity by making records. The tragedy is those who can sing have difficulty achieving credibility. Twiggy had some success, scoring a top twenty UK pop hit with Here I go again and recording two albums in the late seventies that made the UK album charts. This compilation includes all the tracks from the first album and all but four from the second album. "Here I Go Again" (the hit) was actually an American song written by Country Joe McDonald. Indeed, many of the songs here were covers, but most of them are obscure. Perhaps the best-known songs are "Rain On The Roof" (Loving Spoonful) and "I'll Be Doggone" (the Motown classi...
Twiggy, Roger Daltrey, Paul Daneman, Jimmy Jewel and Stratford Johns star in this Emmy-nominated musical adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson's poignant tale. One of the definitive Christmas stories, this well-loved version of The Little Matchgirl features the immortal festive hit Mistletoe and Wine, co-written by Jeremy Paul for the stage play, Scraps, on which this production is based. Christmastime brings little joy to the poor of Victorian London. Cold and hungry, with no gifts to exchange, they cannot afford to stop work, even on Christmas Day. Life is like that for the Little Matchgirl. She roams the streets selling matches for a penny a bundle, and those pennies have to keep her and her ragged father. They have known better times; but her mother, a singer in the music halls, died ...
I discovered Twiggy as a singer in "The Boyfriend" and she followed that with two country-pop albums. I love her voice. "Heaven In Your Eyes" sat on the shelf since 1979 and Twiggy never claimed that it was a disco album. It is a pop-rock album and it succeeds extremely well in that genre. Twiggy really belts it out on "You've Been Lying" and it is a song that really works. "Dorothy" is a beautiful song about the main character in "The Wizard of Oz". Twiggy sings this marvellously and it is a heartfelt rendering. "Carries On" is a sublime country flavoured song and Twiggy loves country music. It is a stand-out number on this album. "Angels Never Sleep At Night" has a dance feel to it but it is still more of a rock song. "Sugar Daddy" and "Lover Boy" also have that 1979 dance feel that was ...

International model, movie star, and legitimate counterculture pop icon Twiggy tried to capitalize on her runaway and "Golden Globe" winning screen success in the late '60s/early '70s with a series of curious albums, all of which featured the starlet singing three or four flowery pop songs that were buffered by jazzy, occasionally goofy instrumental numbers by an industry combo called the Silver Screen Syncopators. Recorded in 1967, "Britain's First Top Model" is a reissue of 1972's "Twiggy & The Girlfriends", the first of three full-length albums. Falling somewhere in between Margo Guryan, Mary Hopkin, Marianne Faithfull, and a heavily orchestrated Nico, it's a slight record (Twiggy's voice is adequate, yet lacks the confidence of her musical peers) that nevertheless dutifully oozes enoug...
If you know Twiggy only for her modelling and acting talents, you will find her song stylings a tremendously worthwhile surprise. She delivers her material with a compelling, credible authority that you will absolutely adore. And if you're already familiar with Twiggy's wonderfully charming renditions of Gershwin and Coward standards -- such as those found on the highly recommended soundtracks of "If Love Were All," "My One and Only" and "The Boyfriend" -- the Twiggy you encounter on this CD will be a further revelation. On "Midnight Blue" she has applied her remarkable interpretive abilities to contemporary music, and the results are, to say the least, stunning! From standout versions of '60s pop anthems ("Be My Baby," "Needles And Pins" and "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," for insta...

Everything I do Is all done for you
Lady I'm yours
And everywhere I go
You're always on my mind
You're all I adore
And I'll go
Outta my way
Just to assure
That our love endures I'm yours
Girl I'm never far away I'll be right there (right there)
To keep you nice and warm I'm rushing right home
Girl I'm never far away I'll be right there (right there)
To protect you from the storm I'm rushing right home
Girl I'll be there I'll be right there
I don't need you say
That I love you
A million times a day
Just the little things I do
All done for you
That's how I display
Love
And I'll go
Out of my way
Just to assure you baby
That our love endures I'm yours
Girl I'm never far away I'll be right there (right there)

You know I'll keep you nice and warm

Girl I'm never far away I'll be right there (I'll be right there)
To protect you from the storm I'm rushing right home
Girl I'll be there I'll be right there
You don't have to go and check my pager
Check my phone and search my pants to figure me out (ha)
Cause I'm an honest man
Don't need a plan, a stronger man
Cause girl there is no doubt
My love's real (as real as it comes)
Even though we are a million miles away from each other
I'm still right here, right here for you
(Here for you, here for you) I could search a million years
And still I wouldn't find anyone as beautiful as you
So rest assured our love endures I'm never far away...
