MNW Music

MNW is a Swedish record company. MNW originally stood for Music Network Corps AB and was formed by Sverre Sundman, Lorne deWolfe and Lynn deWolfe several years later and due to political pressure to have a "more Swedish name" several years later replaced by Musiknätet Waxholm, but was again later changed to Music Network Records Group and now stands for MNW Music.

On September 22, 2015 artist Johan Johansson (KSMB) won a lawsuit claiming that the MNW has put out music streaming services without a license.

Music

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound and silence. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses"). In its most general form, the activities describing music as an art form include the production of works of music (songs, tunes, symphonies, and so on), the criticism of music, the study of the history of music, and the aesthetic examination of music. Ancient Greek and Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound."

Independent music (often shortened to indie music or indie) is music produced independently from major commercial record labels or their subsidiaries, a process that may include an autonomous, do-it-yourself approach to recording and publishing. The term indie is sometimes also used to describe a genre (such as indie rock and indie pop); as a genre term, "indie" may include music that is not independently produced, and most independent music artists do not fall into a single, defined musical style or genre and usually create music that can be categorized into other genres.

Independent labels have a long history of promoting developments in popular music, stretching back to the post-war period in the United States, with labels such as Sun Records, King Records, Stax, etc.

In the United Kingdom during the 1950s and 1960s, the major record companies had so much power that independent labels struggled to become established. Several British producers and artists launched independent labels as outlets for their work and artists they liked, but the majority failed as commercial ventures or were swallowed up by the majors.

Lights and Sounds (song)

"Lights and Sounds" is a song by the American pop punk band Yellowcard. The song was written collaboratively by all the band members for their fifth album, Lights and Sounds (2006). The track is built around an instrumental guitar riff, which is then followed with a repetitive drumming beat, then it is followed by a roaring guitar sound.

The song's lyrics are based on the band coping with the success they were enduring when writing songs for their second album. It is also based on how they have aged in the process. "Lights and Sounds" also goes with what vocalist Ryan Key described as when he was preoccupied with making the album.

The song was released on November 15, 2005, and peaked at number four on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. It also appeared at number twenty-six on the Hot Digital chart. The song peaked at number 50 on Billboard's Hot 100 and Pop 100 in the 42 spot. Internationally, the track appeared for one week in the UK Singles Chart at number 56. It also appeared in the Australian and New Zealand charts, respectively.
