FILM DESCRIPTION:
Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen) leaves his university studies to enlist in combat duty in Vietnam in 1967. Once he's on the ground in the middle of battle, his idealism fades. Infighting in his unit between Staff Sergeant Barnes (Tom Berenger), who believes nearby villagers are harboring Viet Cong soldiers, and Sergeant Elias (Willem Dafoe), who has a more sympathetic view of the locals, ends up pitting the soldiers against each other as well as against the enemy.

Here's a question for your next late-night game of Trivia Pursuit: What was Michael Stipe's first recording following the demise of R.E.M.? The answer is a pirate shanty — yes, pirate shanty — with Courtney Love (!) titled, "Rio Grande".
The track is of one several star-studded collaborations appearing on the new compilation Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys, which was curated by Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski, and producer Hal Willner. Other contributing musicians include Tom Waits and Keith Richards (who team up for "Shenandoah"), Broken Social Scene, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Patti Smith, and more.
Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys is due out February 19th via ANTI-, but you can stream the whole thing at NPR.org.

COURTNEY LOVE TO SING WITH MICHAEL STIPE ON JOHNNY DEPP'S PIRATE THEMED ALBUM
Hole frontwoman Courtney Love has been pegged by Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp to take part in an upcoming new compilation album. The two-disc collection entitled Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys will feature nothing but covers of traditional pirate songs.
The album, which is a sequel to 2006′s Rouge Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys will pop into stores February 19th and will feature contributions by other big-name artists such as Keith Richards, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits. Love's contribution to the album is a duet with former R.E.M. vocalist Michael Stipe entitled: "Rio Grande"

Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands opens as an eccentric inventor (Vincent Price) lovingly assembles a synthetic youth named Edward (Johnny Depp). Edward has all the essential ingredients for today's standard body, with the exception of a pair of hands. For what is initially thought to be a temporary period, he is fitted with long, scissor-like extremities that, while able to trim a mean hedge, are hardly conducive to day-to-day life. When the kindly inventor dies, however, Edward is left lonely and cursed with some very heavy metal for hands. He is eventually taken in by Peg Boggs (Dianne Weist), an Avon lady who takes pity on him after seeing his bleak existence. Edward, in spite of his inherent ability to slay anyone he comes across, is a gentle soul whose only wish is to be loved. His impromptu family has, at best, a limited understanding of Edward, but he finds himself drawn to Peg's weary but sympathetic daughter, Kim (Winona Ryder), who is dating Jim (Anthony Michael Hall), the neighborhood bully. Meanwhile, Edward finds himself a local celebrity after the town realizes that his talents include creative hedge trimming and an unrivaled ability to cut hair. His so-called friends are proven fair-weather when Edward is accused of a crime, after which his only supporters are Peg and Kim.

John Christopher "Johnny" Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, producer, and musician. He has won the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor. He rose to prominence on the 1980s television series 21 Jump Street, becoming a teen idol.

Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen) leaves his university studies to enlist in combat duty in Vietnam in 1967. Once he's on the ground in the middle of battle, his idealism fades. Here's a question for your next late-night game of Trivia Pursuit: What was Michael Stipe's first recording following the demise of R.E.M.? The answer is a pirate shanty — yes, pirate shanty — with Courtney Love (!) titled, "Rio Grande".
The track is of one several star-studded collaborations appearing on the new compilation Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys, which was curated by Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski, and producer Hal Willner. Other contributing musicians include Tom Waits and Keith Richards (who team up for "Shenandoah"), Broken Social Scene, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Patti Smith, and more.
Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys is due out February 19th via ANTI-, but you can stream the whole thing at NPR.org.

Hole frontwoman Courtney Love has been pegged by Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp to take part in an upcoming new compilation album. The two-disc collection entitled Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys will feature nothing but covers of traditional pirate songs.
The album, which is a sequel to 2006′s Rouge Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys will pop into stores February 19th and will feature contributions by other big-name artists such as Keith Richards, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits. Love's contribution to the album is a duet with former R.E.M. vocalist Michael Stipe entitled: "Rio Grande"

Oscar nominee Phillips (“Borat,” “The Hangover” trilogy) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Oscar-nominated writer Scott Silver (“The Fighter”), based on characters from DC. The film is produced by Phillips and Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper (“A Star Is Born,” “American Sniper”) under their Joint Effort banner, and Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff (“The Wolf of Wall Street”). It is executive produced by Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Aaron L. Gilbert, Joseph Garner, Richard Baratta, and Bruce Berman.
Behind the scenes, Phillips is joined by director of photography Lawrence Sher (“Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” “The Hangover” trilogy), production designer Mark Friedberg (“Selma,” “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”), editor Jeff Groth (“War Dogs,” “The Hangover Part III”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (“Phantom Thread,” “The Artist”). Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands opens as an eccentric inventor (Vincent Price) lovingly assembles a synthetic youth named Edward (Johnny Depp). Edward has all the essential ingredients for today's standard body, with the exception of a pair of hands. For what is initially thought to be a temporary period, he is fitted with long, scissor-like extremities that, while able to trim a mean hedge, are hardly conducive to day-to-day life. When the kindly inventor dies, however, Edward is left lonely and cursed with some very heavy metal for hands. He is eventually taken in by Peg Boggs (Dianne Weist), an Avon lady who takes pity on him after seeing his bleak existence. Edward, in spite of his inherent ability to slay anyone he comes across, is a gentle soul whose only wish is to be loved. His impromptu family has, at best, a limited understanding of Edward, but he finds himself drawn to Peg's weary but sympathetic daughter, Kim (Winona Ryder), who is dating Jim (Anthony Michael Hall), the neighborhood bully. Meanwhile, Edward finds himself a local celebrity after the town realizes that his talents include creative hedge trimming and an unrivaled ability to cut hair. His so-called friends are proven fair-weather when Edward is accused of a crime, after which his only supporters are Peg and Kim.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen) leaves his university studies to enlist in combat duty in Vietnam in 1967. Once he's on the ground in the middle of battle, his idealism fades. Here's a question for your next late-night game of Trivia Pursuit: What was Michael Stipe's first recording following the demise of R.E.M.? The answer is a pirate shanty — yes, pirate shanty — with Courtney Love (!) titled, "Rio Grande".
The track is of one several star-studded collaborations appearing on the new compilation Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys, which was curated by Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski, and producer Hal Willner. Other contributing musicians include Tom Waits and Keith Richards (who team up for "Shenandoah"), Broken Social Scene, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Patti Smith, and more.
Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys is due out February 19th via ANTI-, but you can stream the whole thing at NPR.org.

COURTNEY LOVE TO SING WITH MICHAEL STIPE ON JOHNNY DEPP'S PIRATE THEMED ALBUM
Hole frontwoman Courtney Love has been pegged by Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp to take part in an upcoming new compilation album. The two-disc collection entitled Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys will feature nothing but covers of traditional pirate songs.
The album, which is a sequel to 2006′s Rouge Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys will pop into stores February 19th and will feature contributions by other big-name artists such as Keith Richards, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits. Love's contribution to the album is a duet with former R.E.M. vocalist Michael Stipe entitled: "Rio Grande"

John Christopher "Johnny" Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, producer, and musician. He has won the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor. He rose to prominence on the 1980s television series 21 Jump Street, becoming a teen idol.
Since then, Depp has taken on challenging and "larger-than-life" roles, starting with a supporting role in Oliver Stone's Vietnam War film Platoon in 1986, then playing the title character in the romantic dark fantasy Edward Scissorhands (1990). He later found box office success in the fantasy adventure film Sleepy Hollow (1999), the fantasy swashbuckler film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) and its sequels, the musical adventure film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), the fantasy film Alice in Wonderland (2010) and voicing the title character in the animated action comedy western Rango (2011). He has collaborated on eight films with director and friend Tim Burton.
Depp is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. He has gained worldwide critical acclaim for his portrayals of such people as screenwriter-director Ed Wood in Ed Wood, undercover FBI agent Joseph D. Pistone in Donnie Brasco, "gonzo" journalist Hunter S. Thompson in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, cocaine kingpin George Jung in Blow, author J. M. Barrie in Finding Neverland, and the Depression Era outlaw John Dillinger in Michael Mann's Public Enemies. Films featuring Depp have grossed over $3.1 billion at the United States box office and over $7.6 billion worldwide. His most commercially successful films are the Pirates of the Caribbean films, which have grossed $3 billion; Alice in Wonderland which grossed $1 billion; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which grossed $474 million; and The Tourist which grossed $278 million worldwide.
