Robert Louis "Bob" Fosse (June 23, 1927 – September 23, 1987) was an American dancer, musical theatre choreographer, director, screenwriter, film director and actor.
He won 8 Tony Awards for choreography, more than anyone else, as well as one for direction. He was nominated for four Academy Awards, winning for his direction of Cabaret.
Fosse was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 23, 1927, to a Norwegian American father, Cyril K. Fosse, and Irish-born mother, Sara Alice Fosse (née Stanton), the second youngest of six. He teamed up with Charles Grass, another young dancer, and began a collaboration under the name The Riff Brothers. They toured theatres throughout the Chicago area. After being recruited, Fosse was placed in the variety show Tough Situation, which toured military and naval bases in the Pacific. Fosse moved to New York with the ambition of being the new Fred Astaire. His appearance with his first wife and dance partner Mary Ann Niles (1923–1987) in Call Me Mister brought him to the attention of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Fosse and Niles were regular performers on Your Hit Parade during its 1950-51 season, and during this season Martin and Lewis caught their act in New York's Pierre Hotel and scheduled them to appear on the Colgate Comedy Hour. Fosse was signed to a MGM contract in 1953. His early screen appearances included Give A Girl A Break, The Affairs of Dobie Gillis and Kiss Me Kate, all released in 1953. A short sequence that he choreographed in the latter (and danced with Carol Haney) brought him to the attention of Broadway producers.
Dance Moms is an American reality television series that debuted on Lifetime on July 13, 2011. Created by Collins Avenue Productions, the show follows the early training and careers of children in dance and show business under the tutelage of Abby Lee Miller, as well as the interactions of Miller and the dancers with their sometimes bickering mothers. Set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Los Angeles, California, the show is primarily filmed at the Abby Lee Dance Company studios. Dance Moms began its sixth season in 2016.
Primarily set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and, since 2015 in Los Angeles, Dance Moms follows the Abby Lee Dance Company's Junior Elite Competition Team of mostly preteen girls as they travel week-to-week to various dance competitions, winning awards and preparing for Nationals, while at the same time being prepared by Abby Lee Miller to be "professional, employable working dancers." The series depicts the doting mothers as rivals of each other on behalf of their own daughters, often arguing with Miller and each other, and sometimes closing ranks against rival teams. Dance performances are creatively conceptualized by Miller and her dance instructors, with input from the show's producers, while choreography is done by Miller, her staff, and occasionally a guest choreographer. Various rival dance teams spur the team's competitiveness. The show's success is often credited to the drama and conflict among Miller and the moms, along with the weekly dances and the close relationships among the girls as viewers watch them grow up and improve their skills.
All That is an American live-action, sketch comedy-variety show created by Brian Robbins and Mike Tollin, which originally aired on the Nickelodeon cable television network from April 16, 1994, to October 22, 2005, lasting ten seasons. The series was produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions (later Schneider's Bakery during the final season). The pilot episode originally was shown as a special "sneak peek", with the show officially debuting a regular series on December 24, 1994.
The series features original short comedic sketches and weekly musical guests aimed toward a younger audience. The show's sketches parody contemporary culture and are performed by a large and varying cast of child and teen actors. Early episodes were taped at Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Orlando, but then moved to Hollywood at the Nickelodeon On Sunset theatre (formerly the Earl Carrol Theatre), where other Nickelodeon shows such as The Amanda Show, Kenan & Kel, and Drake & Josh were also filmed.
In 2000, after six seasons the show was put on hiatus to be retooled and was relaunched in early 2002 with a completely new cast. Four more seasons were produced before the show was ultimately cancelled. On April 23, 2005, Nickelodeon celebrated the 10th anniversary of All That. The special reunited cast members from both the original and relaunch eras of the show and several other special guest stars in an one-hour event.

The sixth season of Friends, an American sitcom created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, premiered on NBC on September 23, 1999. Friends was produced by Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television. The season contains 25 episodes and concluded airing on May 18, 2000.
In the season premiere ("The One After Vegas"), Ross and Rachel's marriage is established to be a drunken mistake, and although Ross lies and says he got the marriage annulled so that he won't have to be known as the "three divorces" guy, Rachel eventually finds out and they divorce several episodes later. Monica and Chandler decide to move into her apartment together, and Rachel moves in with Phoebe. Joey lands a role on a cable television series called Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E, where he stars alongside a robot. Ross gets a job lecturing at New York University, and starts dating one of his students, Elizabeth (Alexandra Holden). Phoebe and Rachel's apartment catches fire, and Rachel moves in with Joey while Phoebe moves in with Chandler and Monica. In the season finale, Chandler proposes to Monica.

http://www.freds.gr/ The Frug (pronounced "froog") was a dance craze from the 1960s that evolved from another dance of the era, the Chicken. The Chicken, which featured lateral body movements, was used primarily as a change of pace step while doing the Twist. As young dancers grew more tired they would do less work, moving only their hips while standing in place. They then started making up arm movements for the dance, which prompted the birth of the Swim, the Monkey, the Dog, the Watusi, the Mashed Potato, and the Jerk. The Frug is sometimes referred to as the Surf, Big Bea, and the Thunderbird. A perfect example of a Frug is found in the movie Sweet Charity, which contains a number called "The Rich Man's Frug", a wildly energetic dance number comprising three "movements" ("The Aloof", ...

This is the opening sequence of the 1979 film "All That Jazz" starring Roy Schreider as Broadway dancer, director and film director Bob Fosse. It is directed by Fosse and is somewhat of a fantasy depiction of himself during the period when he was editing his film on comic Lenny Bruce " Lenny" while at the same time putting the Broadway show "Chicago" together in rehearsals. What's great about this video is the song sung and played by George Benson who was a jazz guitar master long before he hit it big as a singer...and the dancers themselves. They're still called "gypsies" --never made huge money, had relatively short careers and yet without the quality of Broadway dancers and singers I doubt American theater would ever have had the impact it has had around the globe. Here's a CBS piece ...

Psychotherapist Glenn Berger, PhD, spent the 1970s working as a recording engineer at one of the best recording studios in the world, A & R, in New York City. Under the tutelage of legendary producer Phil Ramone, he worked with some of the greatest artists of the age, including Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, and Frank Sinatra. His proudest accomplishment was creating the soundtrack for choreographer/director Bob Fosse’s Academy-Award winning, semi-autobiographical film, All That Jazz. This entertaining masterwork, a portrait of a genius on an inexorable slide to self-destruction, illuminates the intimate relationship between creativity and madness through stunning photography, innovative editing, wild music, and very sexy dancing. He won 8 Tony Awards for Choreography, (more than anyone else) and an Academy Award for Cabaret. We talked after the premier of "All That Jazz". Fosse co-wrote and directed this semi-autobiographical film (1979), which portrayed the life of a womanizing, drug-addicted choreographer-director in the midst of triumph and failure. All That Jazz won four Academy Awards, earning Fosse his third Oscar nomination for Best Director. He married Gwen Verdon in 1960 and went on to choreograph her work in Sweet Charity, Chicago, Redhead, Damn Yankee. Bob was also an amazing film director; Cabaret, with Liza Minelli won eight Academy Awards. On September 23, 1987, Gwen Verdon held him in her arms as he suffered a fatal heart attack on the sidewalk outside the Willard Hotel, as the revival of Sweet Ch...

Interviewed on the eve of the revival's opening, composer Cy Coleman recalls the original transformation in 1962 of Patrick Dennis' bestselling comic novel into the musical with book by Neil Simon and direction by Bob Fosse. He remembers the show's brilliant original star Sid Caesar, who was grappling with a substance abuse problem at the time, and his volatile lyricist Carolyn Leigh with whom he created the show's hit tunes: "I've Got Your Number," "The Other Side of The Tracks," and "Real Live Girl." Coleman also recalls how he came to write "Hey, Look Me Over" for superstar Lucille Ball in Wildcat, his first Broadway musical and comments on the current state of musicals on Broadway. Dr. Sangwan, as being a physician, was asking a little bit strange questions from her patients: she asked them if they knew what their illness came to tell them about. Then soon time came when she had to face the same situation herself. She had found that instead of numbing out the symptoms any further, she has the choice to go for her real aims in life, even if they are huge and scary. In her warm, emotional and authentic talk she reports about her first adventourous steps on that scary, but authentic path – in Saudi Arabia,– and encourages us as well that we can most probably avoid getting into hospital if we take our tears, deep emotions, and inner- and outer communication as dear, and with their help we stay on the path of our real integrated self.

"All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream." -Edgar Allen Poe We live in a world filled with expectations about how we should think, act, and feel, and it is up to each of us to decide whether or not we will allow these expectations to rule our lives. By acknowledging the expectations others and we have for us, we can learn to overcome them and appreciate individuality. I am beyond grateful to my parents for providing me with so much love and support throughout my entire life, for teaching me the importance of acceptance, and for showing me that it's okay to be quirky and different because uniqueness is what makes life interesting. Also a huge thank you to ...
