SEX(ED) the Movie traces how sex has been taught over the years, through films and education that has evolved crookedly in many cases. The inspiration for the film is explained by filmmaker Brenda Goodman, who gives her thoughts on the state of documentary, fair use, and filmmaking, and shares the trailer for SEX(ED) the Movie on this interview with The Insiders, hosted by Sebastian Twardosz.

When we learn about sex, we don't just learn about social mores and biology; what we learn affects our identity, our relationships and our ability to be intimate throughout our lives. Many people look back at how they learned about sex, whether it was a book, an embarrassing parental chat, a school presentation, or porn, and remember their shock and embarrassment. SEX(ED) The Movie captures the humor and vulnerability of those experiences while allowing us to look at the various agendas that shaped the content. To get at the truth behind the history and current state of sex education in the United States, SEX(ED) The Movie examines sex education films from the 1910s up to the present day. Often hilarious, sometimes instructive, and almost always awkward and embarrassing, these films reflect the changing moral, cultural and political attitudes that inspired them.
Brenda Goodman works in independent films as well as documentaries, television and music videos. Her credits include Anna, (winner of Golden Globe for Best Actress) Emma and Elvis(Kathryn Walker) Mac (directed by John Turturro and winner of the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival), Prisoners of Inertia (Amanda Plumber and Chris Rich), and The Ballad of Little Jo(directed by Maggie Greenwald, featuring Ian McKellen).
Her documentary credits include SEX(ED) The Movie, Observance Observed (ABC), Blues Story, No Place Like Home and Chuck's Story. She also produced documentaries for PBS including Roses in December, Growing Up Poor, and Heartstrings. She produced The Baby Sitter's Club pilot for HBO and was the Executive Producer for the 2000-2001 Human Rights Awards, and the director for DIFFA (The Design Industry Fights Aids) Award Show.

In this sensational 80s concert by Brenda Lee, she performs hit songs which show that she was at the very height of her career. Such favourites featured include 'Coming On Strong' and 'All Alone Am I.' At the age of six, Brenda appeared on the music scene, when she won a contract to appear on the TV show 'Ozark Jubilee.' Since then, she has come a long way and achieved international success. Since the release of Lee's first single 'Jambalaya' in 1955, she has had a line of hits including the 1960 best seller 'Im Sorry,' which topped the charts for six months!

Brenda
Brenda is a feminine given name in the English language.
Etymology
The origin of the name is uncertain, but it may be derived from a Scandinavian language, rather than a Celtic language like the similarly-spelt masculine given name Brendan. It is possible that Brenda may be derived in part from the Old Norse element brand, meaning "(flaming) sword".
Popularity
Prior to the 20th century, Brenda was primarily used in Ireland and Scotland, later it became popular in England. Its use in the Gaelic-speaking countries is attributed to the similar, although likely etymologically unrelated, masculine name Brendan.
"Brenda" is used as a nickname for Queen Elizabeth II by the satirical magazine Private Eye. The comedian Stanley Baxter played the "Duchess of Brenda", a character loosely based on the Queen.

The Movie
"The Movie" is the 54th episode of the sitcom Seinfeld. It is the 14th episode of the fourth season, and first aired on January 6, 1993.
Plot
The episode begins with Jerry ranting in a stand-up comedy monologue about age gaps in employment:
A night filled with miscommunication begins when Jerry has two stand-up acts scheduled for the same night. At first, the Improv manager, Kernis (played by actor Tom La Grua), tells Jerry that the show has been delayed. Jerry is upset that he must lose his on-stage slot; he is more upset when, after telling Kernis, "You don't understand. I got this all timed out. I got another spot across town at 9:50, I'm not gonna be able to make it!" - he then learns, when he shows up at the other comedy stage later, that his spot was for 9:15, not 9:50.
Adding to Jerry's distress is the fact that a hopeful comedian, Buckles (Barry Diamond), "hangs around hoping that somebody drops out." Buckles always bores and pesters Jerry.
Jerry tells Kernis that he'll agree to lose his moment at the microphone, saying, "I'm supposed to meet my friends to see this [fictional] movie, CheckMate, at 10:30."

Brenda Lee
Brenda Mae Tarpley (born December 11, 1944), known as Brenda Lee, is an American performer and the top-charting solo female vocalist of the 1960s. She sang rockabilly, pop and country music, and had 47 US chart hits during the 1960s, and is ranked fourth in that decade surpassed only by Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Ray Charles. She is perhaps best known in the United States for her 1960 hit "I'm Sorry", and 1958's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", a United States holiday standard for more than 50 years.
At 4 ft 9 inches tall (approximately 145 cm), she received the nickname Little Miss Dynamite in 1957 after recording the song "Dynamite" and was one of the earliest pop stars to have a major contemporary international following.
Lee's popularity faded in the late 1960s as her voice matured, but she continued a successful recording career by returning to her roots as a country singer with a string of hits through the 1970s and 1980s. She is a member of the Rock and Roll, Country Music and Rockabilly Halls of Fame. She is also a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. Brenda currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Insiders
The Insiders is a mid-1980s American television detective series starring Nicholas Campbell, Stoney Jackson and Gail Strickland.
Cast
Notes
The one season program aired on Wednesday nights on ABC in the fall of 1985. It was directed by Bobby Roth, now known for the series Prison Break. It is also known for its popular theme song "Just A Job To Do" by Genesis. Stoney Jackson who portrayed "Mackey" showed up in dozens of television series' as a guest star but is also credited as one of the lead dancers in Michael Jackson's video "Beat It".
This show follows the smash hit success of Miami Vice, which it greatly resembled in style and content, and came from the same production company.

Lynda Randle
Lynda Tait Randle, alto singer of southern gospel music, was born in 1962 and grew up in the inner city of Washington, DC.
Gaither Homecoming
Randle is most well known as a Gaither Homecoming artist and markets a number of singing videos featuring her mellow alto voice in gospel music, particularly southern gospel.
Other outreach
She also heads Lynda Randle Ministries in Kansas City, Missouri. Randle on 2009 March 21 became one of the main artists featured by Feed the Children as a fundraising solicitation for contributions.
Personal life
Randle lives in Kansas City, Missouri, with her husband Michael Randle and two daughters Patience and Joy. Randle has four sisters. Her brother is Michael Tait of dc Talk and Newsboys.

When we learn about sex, we don't just learn about social mores and biology; what we learn affects our identity, our relationships and our ability to be intimate throughout our lives. Many people look back at how they learned about sex, whether it was a book, an embarrassing parental chat, a school presentation, or porn, and remember their shock and embarrassment. SEX(ED) The Movie captures the humor and vulnerability of those experiences while allowing us to look at the various agendas that shaped the content. To get at the truth behind the history and current state of sex education in the United States, SEX(ED) The Movie examines sex education films from the 1910s up to the present day. Often hilarious, sometimes instructive, and almost always awkward and embarrassing, these films reflect the changing moral, cultural and political attitudes that inspired them.
Brenda Goodman works in independent films as well as documentaries, television and music videos. Her credits include Anna, (winner of Golden Globe for Best Actress) Emma and Elvis(Kathryn Walker) Mac (directed by John Turturro and winner of the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival), Prisoners of Inertia (Amanda Plumber and Chris Rich), and The Ballad of Little Jo(directed by Maggie Greenwald, featuring Ian McKellen).
Her documentary credits include SEX(ED) The Movie, Observance Observed (ABC), Blues Story, No Place Like Home and Chuck's Story. She also produced documentaries for PBS including Roses in December, Growing Up Poor, and Heartstrings. She produced The Baby Sitter's Club pilot for HBO and was the Executive Producer for the 2000-2001 Human Rights Awards, and the director for DIFFA (The Design Industry Fights Aids) Award Show.

SEX(ED) the Movie traces how sex has been taught over the years, through films and education that has evolved crookedly in many cases. The inspiration for the film is explained by filmmaker Brenda Goodman, who gives her thoughts on the state of documentary, fair use, and filmmaking, and shares the trailer for SEX(ED) the Movie on this interview with The Insiders, hosted by Sebastian Twardosz.
GUEST & FILM BIO:
When we learn about sex, we don't just learn about social mores and biology; what we learn affects our identity, our relationships and our ability to be intimate throughout our lives. Many people look back at how they learned about sex, whether it was a book, an embarrassing parental chat, a school presentation, or porn, and remember their shock and embarrassment. SEX(ED) The Movie captures the humor and vulnerability of those experiences while allowing us to look at the various agendas that shaped the content. To get at the truth behind the history and current state of sex education in the United States, SEX(ED) The Movie examines sex education films from the 1910s up to the present day. Often hilarious, sometimes instructive, and almost always awkward and embarrassing, these films reflect the changing moral, cultural and political attitudes that inspired them.
Brenda Goodman works in independent films as well as documentaries, television and music videos. Her credits include Anna, (winner of Golden Globe for Best Actress) Emma and Elvis(Kathryn Walker) Mac (directed by John Turturro and winner of the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival), Prisoners of Inertia (Amanda Plumber and Chris Rich), and The Ballad of Little Jo(directed by Maggie Greenwald, featuring Ian McKellen).
Her documentary credits include SEX(ED) The Movie, Observance Observed (ABC), Blues Story, No Place Like Home and Chuck's Story. She also produced documentaries for PBS including Roses in December, Growing Up Poor, and Heartstrings. She produced The Baby Sitter's Club pilot for HBO and was the Executive Producer for the 2000-2001 Human Rights Awards, and the director for DIFFA (The Design Industry Fights Aids) Award Show.

When we learn about sex, we don't just learn about social mores and biology; what we learn affects our identity, our relationships and our ability to be intimate throughout our lives. Many people look back at how they learned about sex, whether it was a book, an embarrassing parental chat, a school presentation, or porn, and remember their shock and embarrassment. SEX(ED) The Movie captures the humor and vulnerability of those experiences while allowing us to look at the various agendas that shaped the content. To get at the truth behind the history and current state of sex education in the United States, SEX(ED) The Movie examines sex education films from the 1910s up to the present day. Often hilarious, sometimes instructive, and almost always awkward and embarrassing, these films reflect the changing moral, cultural and political attitudes that inspired them.
Brenda Goodman works in independent films as well as documentaries, television and music videos. Her credits include Anna, (winner of Golden Globe for Best Actress) Emma and Elvis(Kathryn Walker) Mac (directed by John Turturro and winner of the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival), Prisoners of Inertia (Amanda Plumber and Chris Rich), and The Ballad of Little Jo(directed by Maggie Greenwald, featuring Ian McKellen).
Her documentary credits include SEX(ED) The Movie, Observance Observed (ABC), Blues Story, No Place Like Home and Chuck's Story. She also produced documentaries for PBS including Roses in December, Growing Up Poor, and Heartstrings. She produced The Baby Sitter's Club pilot for HBO and was the Executive Producer for the 2000-2001 Human Rights Awards, and the director for DIFFA (The Design Industry Fights Aids) Award Show.

To get at the truth behind the history and current state of sex education in the United States, SEX(ED) The Movie examines sex education films from the 1910s up to the present day. Often hilarious, sometimes instructive, and almost always awkward and embarrassing, these films reflect the changing moral, cultural and political attitudes that inspired them.
Brenda Goodman works in independent films as well as documentaries, television and music videos. The Temptations are an American vocal group who formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1960. They were known for their success in the 60s and 70s at Motown Records. The group's repertoire has included, during its five-decade career, R&B;, doo-wop, funk, disco and soul music. Known for their recognizable choreography, distinct harmonies, and flashy onstage suits, the Temptations have been said to be as influential to soul as The Beatles are to pop and rock. Having sold tens of millions of albums, The Temptations are one of the most successful groups in music history. As of 2010, the Temptations continue to perform and record for Universal Records with its one living original member, Otis Williams, still in its lineup.
The Temptations helped put Motown Records on the map in 1964, with their song "The Way You Do The Things You Do" rising to the top of the charts. They were the first Motown act to earn a Grammy Award. Three classic Temptations songs, "My Girl", "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)", and "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone", are among The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

Sweet Dreams is a 1985 biographical film which tells the life story of country music singer Patsy Cline.
The film was written by Robert Getchell and directed by Karel Reisz. It stars Jessica Lange, Ed Harris, Ann Wedgeworth, David Clennon, James Staley, Gary Basaraba and John Goodman.
The film was nominated for Academy Award for Best Actress (Jessica Lange). For all the musical sequences, Lange lip-synced to the original Patsy Cline recordings. The soundtrack of the same name was released in September 1985.
Patsy Cline (Lange) is unhappily married and playing small-time gigs in the tri-state area consisting of Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland when she meets Charlie Dick (Harris), whose charm and aggressive self-confidence catch her attention. In time, Patsy leaves her husband to marry Charlie, and she gives up music to focus on raising their children. But after Charlie gets drafted into the U.S. Army, Patsy begins singing again, and after joining forces with manager Randy Hughes, Patsy becomes a rising star on the country music scene.
However, Patsy's success fuels her self-confidence, much to Charlie's annoyance, and he becomes increasingly physically and emotionally abusive as Patsy attempts to assert her independence. Patsy was at the peak of her popularity as one of the first great female stars of country music when she died in a plane crash on March 5, 1963, at the age of 30.
Non-factual differences:
For the scenes at an Army post, supposedly Fort Bragg, North Carolina, filming took place at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, instead. Other scenes were shot in Nashville, Tennessee, and Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Many of the sequences depicted in the film are inaccurate:
Patsy and her brother were not on their way to pick up beer when she nearly lost her life in a 1961 car crash. They were on their way to pick up material for her mother, a seamstress, to make her new stage clothes. The car crash happened in mid-June, not in the winter.
Patsy's husband, Charlie Dick, and their daughter, Julie, have both stated that Charlie had never hit Patsy in front of their daughter. Charlie has said that he had slapped Patsy only once for becoming hysterical[citation needed] Patsy's relatives have said that Patsy is portrayed more as a victim than she really was. "Their fights were always interesting to watch because you always knew Patsy would win", claimed friend Dottie West. However, other family members insist that Patsy was very badly beaten and sent to a hospital on numerous occasions.
Patsy's airplane crashed in the early evening hours in a forest -- not into a mountain cliff -- in Camden, Tennessee. (There is no mountain at all in West Tennessee.)
The plane crashed due to bad weather, not due to difficulties in restarting the engine after switching from an empty fuel tank to a full one. Randy Hughes (Patsy's manager and the pilot of the aircraft), who was not instrument-rated, became disoriented in the inclement weather and eventually lost control. Also, the plane crashed on the way to Nashville from Kansas City, not vice versa.
The aircraft in the crash was a Piper Comanche, not a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, as in the film.
Patsy's mother, the late Hilda Hensely, once stated: "They [the producers] told me that they were going to make a love story. I saw the film once. That was enough."
