Osnabrück is the only German city that is situated in a national park, the Terra.vita, which includes the Teutoburg Forest and the 'Wiehengebirge'.
The Terra.vita nature reserve covers an area of 1,200 square kilometres, making it Germany's biggest nature reserve. In 2004, it was awarded UNESCO Geopark status on account of its extraordinary role as a geological heritage site.
Osnabrück has gone down in history as a town where peace was made -- the decisive negotiations to end the Thirty Years' War took place here.
Osnabrück is a university town. The main building of Osnabrück University (6:59) is the baroque castle (built 1667-1675), formerly home and office to the Prince-Bishop of Osnabrück, nowadays housing mainly university administration. It is located close to the city center. In summer, the (mostly grass-covered) castle court is used for open air cinema and concerts.

Traveling between Amsterdam and Hamburg I decided to make a quick stop in the lovely small town of Osnabruck in Germany.
I had a 2 hour time between my train connection so I spent it exploring the old town and surrounding area.
Unfortunately it was raining the entire time so I didn't get to check out everything I wanted to but I definitely hope to visit Osnabruck again in the future and spend some more time exploring!

Cheap interest and a stable exchange made loans in Swiss francs attractive for many communities - like the city of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony. But since the Swiss National Bank removed the cap on the euro, worry in the town hall is growing.
Over the years Osnabrück says it's taken out loans valued at nearly 50 million francs over the years. But since the Swiss central bank's decision, the city has lost some €7.3 million on the books.

Osnabrück
Osnabrück (German pronunciation: [ɔsnaˈbʁʏk]; Westphalian: Ossenbrügge; archaic English: Osnaburg) is a city in the federal state of Lower-Saxony in north-west Germany. It is situated in a valley penned between the Wiehen Hills and the northern tip of the Teutoburg Forest. With a population of around 160,000, Osnabrück is the fourth-largest city in Lower Saxony. The city is the centrepoint of the Osnabrück Land region as well as the District of Osnabrück.
The founding of Osnabrück was linked to its positioning on important European trading routes. Charles the Great founded the Diocese of Osnabrück in 780. The city was also a member of the Hanseatic League. Later Osnabrück became well known for its role in the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 which brought the Thirty Years’ War to an end; the treaty was signed both there and in nearby Münster. The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest took place in the surrounding region of Osnabrück. The city is also known as the birthplace of novelist Erich-Maria Remarque (“All Quiet on the Western Front”) and painter Felix Nussbaum.

New media art
New media art is a genre that encompasses artworks created with new media technologies, including digital art, computer graphics, computer animation, virtual art, Internet art, interactive art, video games, computer robotics, 3D printing, cyborg art and art as biotechnology. The term differentiates itself by its resulting cultural objects and social events, which can be seen in opposition to those deriving from old visual arts (i.e. traditional painting, sculpture, etc.). This concern with medium is a key feature of much contemporary art and indeed many art schools and major Universities now offer majors in "New Genres" or "New Media" and a growing number of graduate programs have emerged internationally. New Media Art often involves interaction between artist and observer or between observers and the artwork, which responds to them. Yet, as several theorists and curators have noted, such forms of interaction, social exchange, participation, and transformation do not distinguish new media art but rather serve as a common ground that has parallels in other strands of contemporary art practice. Such insights emphasize the forms of cultural practice that arise concurrently with emerging technological platforms, and question the focus on technological media, per se.

Osnabrück is the only German city that is situated in a national park, the Terra.vita, which includes the Teutoburg Forest and the 'Wiehengebirge'. The Terra.vita nature reserve covers an area of 1,200 square kilometres, making it Germany's biggest nature reserve. In 2004, it was awarded UNESCO Geopark status on account of its extraordinary role as a geological heritage site. Osnabrück has gone down in history as a town where peace was made -- the decisive negotiations to end the Thirty Years' War took place here. Osnabrück is a university town. Traveling between Amsterdam and Hamburg I decided to make a quick stop in the lovely small town of Osnabruck in Germany. I had a 2 hour time between my train connection so I spent it exploring the old town and surrounding area. Unfortunately it was raining the entire time so I didn't get to check out everything I wanted to but I definitely hope to visit Osnabruck again in the future and spend some more time exploring! Cheap interest and a stable exchange made loans in Swiss francs attractive for many communities - like the city of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony. But since the Swiss National Bank removed the cap on the euro, worry in the town hall is growing. Over the years Osnabrück says it's taken out loans valued at nearly 50 million francs over the years. Multiple visitors can walk over the floor projection at the same time and 'scan' the land beneath their feet. Secret Life is the first of the Secrets Trilogy; a cycle exploring the imperceptible conditions that frame life and is followed by Secret Machine (2009) and Six Easy Pieces (2010)
Secret Life portrays a woman trapped in an apartment with a life of its own. Transcending the narrative horizons of human desire, the film visits upon us a glimpse of a shared and sacred reality. A work that defies the ultimate metaphysical taboos of temporality by combining novel technique with intrepid philosophical vision; and daring to present that which is seldom, if ever, portrayed in any artistic medium.
Impossibilities are made possible through Reynolds’ signature aesthetic, a lens that can fill one with reverence for the mundane.
Have you ever wondered what time sees, experiences? Without mortal assumptions about time, the occupant of the apartment is no longer limited even to unique location, but here, seen through the eye of time, space itself is now become alive. Without the context of space and time, the woman’s mind collapses and neglects the organization of her experience, leaving her only with sensations. The viewer may ask: Is it her mind or is it time itself that creates the uncontrolled and uncontrollable environment? The work suggests that all living things are endowed with consciousness, meaning all living things have awareness. While the space increases in its activity, the woman becomes an ever more passive element in her world. She moves at a mechanical speed and her mind is like a clock whose hands pin the events of her life to the tapestry of time, all the while, the truth is transcendentally reflected in the mechanical eye of the camera. Her thoughts escape her and come to life, growing like the plants that inhabit the space around her: living, searching, feeling, breathing and dying.

Marsen Jules and Anders Weberg pair up for a new audiovisual performance. Their cinemaesque live-shows let you drown into a surrealistic world of deep ambient soundscapes and shimmering multilayered dreamlike pictures. The shows consist of special material taken from an upcoming audiovisual DVD on Oktaf Records in 2014.
Anders Weberg is a Swedish filmmaker and media artist, well known for his experimental films, videos, installations and media art concepts appearing at art festivals, museums and exhibitions world wide. He exhibited at numerous art/film festivals, galleries, and museums internationally, including Oscar Niemeyer Museum, Curitiba, Brazil, 2012, Museum of Modern Art 2011, Buenos Aires, Argentina. File Brazil 2007-2008-2011- 2012, São Paulo, Brazil; FutureEverything 2010, Manchester, UK; National Museum of Contemporary Art 2010, Athens, Greece; Beijing Contemporary Art Centre 2010, Beijing, China.
He also is the founder and curator of AIVA Video Art Festival and the Stian (con)temporary art gallery in Sweden. Currently he is working on "Ambiance" the worlds longest film, which will be released in 2020.
The German electronic music composer Marsen Jules is a poet in sound. Focused on minimalism and abstraction he creates atmospheric and deeply emotional tunes. Since his CD debut on City Centre Offices he released 7 full length albums and several compilation tracks on labels as 12K, Kompakt, Miasmah and Dronarivm as well as his own imprint Oktaf Records. In 2009 he received an award as best album at the Qwartz Electronic Music Awards in Paris which was also combined with a a two week residence in the legendary "GRM Studios" at Radio France. Marsen Jules played allready on international festivals as Mutek Montreal, Tranzvizualia (Poland), Node (Italy), Urban Explorers (NL), La Rout du Rock (Paris), Picknick Electronique (Montreal).

vinyl+ is an interactive installation, experimenting with the expansion of timecode vinyl. Virtual objects are projected onto the surface of a white record and come to life when the record is played. Their behaviour changes depending on the rotational speed of the record as well as the position of the turntable‘s needle. The vinyl acts as the screen, interface and apparent carrier for generative audiovisual software pieces. The combination of turntable, computer and projector results in a new device, oscillating between analog and digital, hard- and software.
Users are encouraged to spin the record for- and backwards and to carefully reposition the needle.

Recently we had the opportunity to visit Europa-Park, the largest theme park in Germany and second most popular theme resort in all of Europe.
This was the perfect opportunity for us to rekindle our childhood passion for rides. With over eleven different roller coasters alone we quickly realized we had never been to such a big theme park.
What we found cool was that the theme park was divided into different European countries. If you can't visit all of Europe going to Europa Park is like getting little slivers of it all.
Accommodating up to 50,000 guests per day, we were fortunate we didn't come during peak season; however, it was still crowded.
Overall, the weather was perfect, the rides were fun and it is an experience we won't forget anytime soon.
This is a bit of a surprise. We have an eight hour wait for a flight in Frankfurt, so instead of just hanging around in the airport, which was our original plan, we decided to drop our bags off and come into the city.
That pretty much wraps up our little visit to Frankfurt. We spent maybe three or four hours just walking around and it was really nice to just see the city without much of an agenda.
I came here with quite low expectations to be perfectly honest. I had heard more or less this is just a financial hub but it ended up being quite charming here in Frankfurt and I'm definitely going to miss Germany. I've had a wonderful time traveling around the country.
We aren't having much luck with the weather today. It is really rainy here in Freiburg. It is Easter weekend but we are out an exploring and we want to show you the city. Let's go have a tour.
One of my first impressions of Freiburg is that it is such a great city to walk around in. That's all we've been doing so far. It's very picturesque. There are cobbled streets and it is also very historic.
Thankfully, the weather has shifted dramatically for the better. Earlier we had been rained out, so we had to head back into the hotel because it was cold and windy. Now we're seeing a few patches of blue skies, so we're going to keep exploring around Freiburg.

The episcopal city of Passau nestles between hills at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz. High above the rivers and strategically perched on a rock is the castle complex of Veste Oberhaus, imposing and impregnable. The salt trade enriched the town and Italian baroque masters were allowed to create the cityscape of the historic old town. Beginning in Würzburg On The Main, the Romantic Road leads to various well known historic cities, castles and palaces. Between 1642 and the middle of the eighteenth century, three prince-bishops gave the city its Baroque architecture and also the castle known as The Residence. Nuremberg is the ‘secret capital’ of German Franconia and ‘treasure trove of the German Reich’, the epitome of German romanticism and tradition with a long history and also bitter memories of quite recent times. An Imperial City which indeed became the City Of Party Rallies but which has never lost its benevolent spirit. Dresden is the capital of the German free state of Saxony, a major centre of culture with a remarkable history. Although almost completely destroyed at the end of the Second World War and for many years hidden behind the Iron Curtain, today the city shines out in all of its former splendour. Hamburg is a lively metropolis in the north of Germany and for many centuries was a gateway to the world and a work of art with many different faces. Each year on the seventh of May, Harbour Birthday is celebrated when people from all over the world gather within the various galleries of the landing stages to celebrate a huge festival. With its culture and many diverse and beautiful landscapes, Germany is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.

Join as we visit Nuremberg, Germany on a trip to wander around with the aim of doing the best things in Nuremberg. As the second largest city in Bavaria, Nürnberg has a lot offer in terms of castles, museums and unique cuisine worth sampling.
As a very walkable and tourist friendly city you can cover most attractions in Nuremberg in just a day or two making it a perfect weekend retreat.
We honestly arrived without the highest of expectations but we left feeling as though we wanted to spend extra time in Nuremberg.

10 Things to do in Nuremberg, Germany travel guide video transcript:
We started our day by taking the U-bahn to the centre of town and getting off at Lorenzkirche. This put us on the south bank of the Pegnitz River, where we took the opportunity to browse some markets before visiting St Lorenz Church.
This is a beautiful gothic church complete with pointed vaults, stained glass windows, and sculptures.
From there we walked across one of the city’s many bridges and continued on to the Beautiful Fountain (yes, that’s the name), searching for a bit of good luck.
One of Nuremberg’s most famed attractions is the Imperial Castle located in the northwest end of the Old Town. The castle is a testament to the power of the Holy Roman Empire during the middle ages.
And we couldn’t come all the way to Nuremberg and not try the famed Nuremberger sausage! We went to Bratwursthäusle, right in the heart of the Old Town by St Sebaldus Church.
Later that afternoon we went into Nuremberg’s deep underground on a tour of the historic beer cellars. Nuremberg has been a beer brewing city for centuries.
While in town, we also took a walk down Weißgerbergasse, which may just be one of the prettiest streets in Nuremberg. This curved cobbled street is lined with half-timbered houses.
Albrecht Dürer’s one time home is now a museum dedicated to his life and work. He was a German Renaissance artist across many mediums, but he is best known for revolutionizing printmaking and elevating it as an art form. At certain times of day, they offer a guided tour with an actress who plays the role of Agnes Dürer, the artist’s wife.
The bridge we were looking for is the Heilig-Geist-Spital, or the Holy Spirit Hospital. It’s not a bridge in the usual sense of the word, rather a medieval building that sits across part of the Pegnitz River.
On a more serious note, we couldn’t leave Nuremberg without also visiting the Dokuzentrum, also known as the The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rallying Grounds.

Last month, I went to Germany alone. I entered the country as lonely as a solo traveler could be. I ate alone, drank alone, and walked alone. But along the way, I met people, made new friends and rekindled old ones. By the time I left the country, I was no longer alone.
I had the opportunity to be hosted by several German friends around the country, I partied with them, drink with them, and hung out with them. I experienced the alternative culture in Berlin. I lost my bag in Cologne (http://blog.bucketlistly.com/post/132467427542/bag-stolen-germany-cologne). I celebrated my Birthday with a Pool match and a rap battle concert in Dresden. It was a hell of a ride.
As the saying goes, "Happiness is only real when shared". We, humans are social animals. No matter how independent we are, at the end of the day, we need our friends.. and good friends are everywhere if you know where to find them.
This is what I experienced in Germany. Enjoy.

When you come study abroad and will live in another city it is always an exciting challenge. It’s a new culture, you get a lot of input and try to soak as much in of everything around you as possible to take these experiences home with you.
As students of the Köln International School of Design (Cologne, Germany) we recognized that many incoming students enjoy studying here, but often it takes a while to find the exciting things the city has to offer. By the end of the semester, when they leave again, they often just settled in and found their favorite spots.
We wanted to change this situation for the better and provide a meaningfull, helpfull tool to introduce this great city in a playfull way. The outcome is a guide book to Cologne that, in 60 pages, gives an overview about culture, food, nightlife and provides answers to questions like "What to do on Sundays?" since stores are closed in Germany. All information comes directly from former and current students and therefore provides an unique perspective.
The guide is focused on international students but also offers exciting tips and recommendations for locals that want to explore their city in a fresh way and is now freely distributed by the Cologne Faculty of Applied Sciences to all arriving international students.

NOT JUST ANOTHER GUIDE TO COLOGNE - A guide from students for students

When you come study abroad and will live in another city it is always an exciting challenge. It’s a new culture, you get a lot of input and try to soak as much in of everything around you as possible to take these experiences home with you.
As students of the Köln International School of Design (Cologne, Germany) we recognized that many incoming students enjoy studying here, but often it takes a while to find the exciting things the city has to offer. By the end of the semester, when they leave again, they often just settled in and found their favorite spots.
We wanted to change this situation for the better and provide a meaningfull, helpfull tool to introduce this great city in a playfull way. The outcome is a guide book to Cologne that, in 60 pages, gives an overview about culture, food, nightlife and provides answers to questions like "What to do on Sundays?" since stores are closed in Germany. All information comes directly from former and current students and therefore provides an unique perspective.
The guide is focused on international students but also offers exciting tips and recommendations for locals that want to explore their city in a fresh way and is now freely distributed by the Cologne Faculty of Applied Sciences to all arriving international students.

Osnabrück is the only German city that is situated in a national park, the Terra.vita, which includes the Teutoburg Forest and the 'Wiehengebirge'. The Terra.vita nature reserve covers an area of 1,200 square kilometres, making it Germany's biggest nature reserve. In 2004, it was awarded UNESCO Geopark status on account of its extraordinary role as a geological heritage site. Osnabrück has gone down in history as a town where peace was made -- the decisive negotiations to end the Thirty Years' War took place here. Osnabrück is a university town. Osnabruck, Germany | My Trip to Lovely Osnabruck
Traveling between Amsterdam and Hamburg I decided to make a quick stop in the lovely small town of Osnabruck in Germany. I had a 2 hour time between my train connection so I spent it exploring the old town and surrounding area. Unfortunately it was raining the entire time so I didn't get to check out everything I wanted to but I definitely hope to visit Osnabruck again in the future and spend some more time exploring! Expensive Francs - Osnabrück's Gamble with Loans | Made in Germany
Cheap interest and a stable exchange made loans in Swiss francs attractive for many communities - like the city of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony. But since the Swiss National Bank removed the cap on the euro, worry in the town hall is growing. Over the years Osnabrück says it's taken out loans valued at nearly 50 million francs over the years. Interactive map - Museum Industriekultur Osnabrück
A demo of an interactive floor that introduces the landscape of the Piesberg, (near Osnabrück, Germany). Multiple visitors can walk over the floor projection at the same time and 'scan' the land beneath their feet. When touched, several locations show short video's or animations of the local history or nature of that spot. The software is built on the Adobe AIR Framework and interfaces with CCV and two Kinect infrared sensors.

Secret Life is the first of the Secrets Trilogy; a cycle exploring the imperceptible conditions that frame life and is followed by Secret Machine (2009) and Six Easy Pieces (2010)
Secret Life portrays a woman trapped in an apartment with a life of its own. Transcending the narrative horizons of human desire, the film visits upon us a glimpse of a shared and sacred reality. A work that defies the ultimate metaphysical taboos of temporality by combining novel technique with intrepid philosophical vision; and daring to present that which is seldom, if ever, portrayed in any artistic medium.
Impossibilities are made possible through Reynolds’ signature aesthetic, a lens that can fill one with reverence for the mundane.
Have you ever wondered what time sees, experiences? Without mortal assumptions about time, the occupant of the apartment is no longer limited even to unique location, but here, seen through the eye of time, space itself is now become alive. Without the context of space and time, the woman’s mind collapses and neglects the organization of her experience, leaving her only with sensations. The viewer may ask: Is it her mind or is it time itself that creates the uncontrolled and uncontrollable environment? The work suggests that all living things are endowed with consciousness, meaning all living things have awareness. While the space increases in its activity, the woman becomes an ever more passive element in her world. She moves at a mechanical speed and her mind is like a clock whose hands pin the events of her life to the tapestry of time, all the while, the truth is transcendentally reflected in the mechanical eye of the camera. Her thoughts escape her and come to life, growing like the plants that inhabit the space around her: living, searching, feeling, breathing and dying.

Marsen Jules and Anders Weberg pair up for a new audiovisual performance. Their cinemaesque live-shows let you drown into a surrealistic world of deep ambient soundscapes and shimmering multilayered dreamlike pictures. The shows consist of special material taken from an upcoming audiovisual DVD on Oktaf Records in 2014.
Anders Weberg is a Swedish filmmaker and media artist, well known for his experimental films, videos, installations and media art concepts appearing at art festivals, museums and exhibitions world wide. He exhibited at numerous art/film festivals, galleries, and museums internationally, including Oscar Niemeyer Museum, Curitiba, Brazil, 2012, Museum of Modern Art 2011, Buenos Aires, Argentina. File Brazil 2007-2008-2011- 2012, São Paulo, Brazil; FutureEverything 2010, Manchester, UK; National Museum of Contemporary Art 2010, Athens, Greece; Beijing Contemporary Art Centre 2010, Beijing, China.
He also is the founder and curator of AIVA Video Art Festival and the Stian (con)temporary art gallery in Sweden. Currently he is working on "Ambiance" the worlds longest film, which will be released in 2020.
The German electronic music composer Marsen Jules is a poet in sound. Focused on minimalism and abstraction he creates atmospheric and deeply emotional tunes. Since his CD debut on City Centre Offices he released 7 full length albums and several compilation tracks on labels as 12K, Kompakt, Miasmah and Dronarivm as well as his own imprint Oktaf Records. In 2009 he received an award as best album at the Qwartz Electronic Music Awards in Paris which was also combined with a a two week residence in the legendary "GRM Studios" at Radio France. Marsen Jules played allready on international festivals as Mutek Montreal, Tranzvizualia (Poland), Node (Italy), Urban Explorers (NL), La Rout du Rock (Paris), Picknick Electronique (Montreal).

vinyl+ is an interactive installation, experimenting with the expansion of timecode vinyl. Virtual objects are projected onto the surface of a white record and come to life when the record is played. Their behaviour changes depending on the rotational speed of the record as well as the position of the turntable‘s needle. The vinyl acts as the screen, interface and apparent carrier for generative audiovisual software pieces. The combination of turntable, computer and projector results in a new device, oscillating between analog and digital, hard- and software.
Users are encouraged to spin the record for- and backwards and to carefully reposition the needle.
