Safety is NOT a Priority - Safety Training Video - Preventing Accidents and Injuries
A truck technician with almost 40 years experience was working on a truck during his lunch hour because the customer was waiting, and he was in a hurry to get his vehicle back.
Because he was in a hurry, the technician failed to deploy a safety system built into the truck's hydraulic mechanism to prevent it from falling on the mechanic. His foot slipped and struck the operating lever, bringing the mechanism down, crushing him to death.
In that business, safety was a "priority," and priorities get shuffled. In this case, safety was moved down and "customer service" became the "#1 priority."
This short video explains the dangers of relying on safety slogans and the effective alternative that will make your life safer - at work, at home, or anywhere else.

The "Nothing is Routine" safety video was created for the Midland Michigan Site to remind employees that we often forget that there are dangers even in our most routine tasks.
The idea behind this video was to show three different activities that employees complete daily such as walking, office work, and working a product line. During these activities users can lose focus on safety and injury can and will occur.
It was our goal to put the audience into these three situations and then show them the possible outcome if they are distracted and become complacent.
This video is the property of the Dow Chemical Company and should not be used for any training purposes.

Riding at night can be a daunting and dangerous task; many biking commuters are faced with the issue of being obscured when riding on the streets. Visibility at night is a vital component of biker safety, hence the need for reflectors and attachable lights. However, some of these devices are not always effective especially from the side.
We created a system that requires very little rider input and maintenance, while increasing the visual footprint of bikers from all directions especially from the side. We accomplished this by expanding the surface area of light emitted through the use of RGB LEDs inside the rims of the wheels that change from red when slowing down to white when at cruising speed.
It should be noted that Project Aura is a lighting system which allows a rider to be seen, but does not replace a forward facing headlight to illuminate the roadway. By law (in Pennsylvania, the laws vary state by state) a front headlamp and rear reflector are required, use of a rear blinky is up to the rider‘s discretion.

Safety
Safety is the state of being "safe" (from French sauf), the condition of being protected against physical, social, spiritual, financial, political, emotional, occupational, psychological, educational, or other types or consequences of failure, damage, error, accidents, harm, or any other event that could be considered non-desirable. Safety can also be defined to be the control of recognized hazards to achieve an acceptable level of risk. This can take the form of being protected from the event or from exposure to something that causes health or economical losses. It can include protection of people or of possessions.
Meanings
There are two slightly different meanings of safety. For example, home safety may indicate a building's ability to protect against external harm events (such as weather, home invasion, etc.), or may indicate that its internal installations (such as appliances, stairs, etc.) are safe (not dangerous or harmful) for its inhabitants.
Discussions of safety often include mention of related terms. Security is such a term. With time the definitions between these two have often become interchanged, equated, and frequently appear juxtaposed in the same sentence. Readers unfortunately are left to conclude whether they comprise a redundancy. This confuses the uniqueness that should be reserved for each by itself. When seen as unique, as we intend here, each term will assume its rightful place in influencing and being influenced by the other.

Safety Training
"Safety Training" is the twentieth episode of the third season of the American comedy television series The Office. Written by B. J. Novak, who also acts in the show as sales representative Ryan Howard, and directed by Caddyshack and National Lampoon's Vacation director Harold Ramis, the episode aired in the United States on April 12, 2007 on NBC.
In the episode, Michael attempts to prove life in an office is dangerous after Darryl berates him about the dangers of the warehouse. The attempts lead him to the roof of the building, where he tries to show that depression caused by an office can lead to desperate circumstances. Meanwhile, gambling between the other employees of the office leads Karen to discover that she is still an outsider.
Plot
When Michael Scott (Steve Carell) repeatedly disrupts Darryl Philbin's (Craig Robinson) warehouse safety training session, Lonny Collins (Patrice O'Neal) and Darryl mock the office workers' safety session in retaliation, claiming that office work does not entail physical danger. Offended by Darryl's disdain for office safety training, Michael decides to demonstrate the risk of depression and suicide by jumping off the roof, landing on a hidden trampoline. When Michael tests out the trampoline by dropping a watermelon from the roof, it bounces off and hits an office worker's car, prompting it to be replaced by a bouncy castle hidden from the general view of the parking lot. From the roof of the building, Michael talks dramatically about the dangers of depression. When the bouncy castle is discovered, Jim and Pam realize that Michael is "going to kill himself pretending to kill himself." The employees collectively talk Michael down from the roof, with Darryl doing most of the talking, to assure Michael that he is brave simply by living as himself. At the end, the car that was hit by the watermelon is revealed to be Stanley's (Leslie David Baker), who is shocked to see the mess.

Project Aura: Bicycle Safety Lighting System
Riding at night can be a daunting and dangerous task; many biking commuters are faced with the issue of being obscured when riding on the streets. Visibility at night is a vital component of biker safety, hence the need for reflectors and attachable lights. However, some of these devices are not always effective especially from the side. We created a system that requires very little rider input and maintenance, while increasing the visual footprint of bikers from all directions especially from the side. We accomplished this by expanding the surface area of light emitted through the use of RGB LEDs inside the rims of the wheels that change from red when slowing down to white when at cruising speed. A truck technician with almost 40 years experience was working on a truck during his lunch hour because the customer was waiting, and he was in a hurry to get his vehicle back.
Because he was in a hurry, the technician failed to deploy a safety system built into the truck's hydraulic mechanism to prevent it from falling on the mechanic. His foot slipped and struck the operating lever, bringing the mechanism down, crushing him to death.
In that business, safety was a "priority," and priorities get shuffled. In this case, safety was moved down and "customer service" became the "#1 priority."

The idea behind this video was to show three different activities that employees complete daily such as walking, office work, and working a product line. During these activities users can lose focus on safety and injury can and will occur.
It was our goal to put the audience into these three situations and then show them the possible outcome if they are distracted and become complacent.
This video is the property of the Dow Chemical Company and should not be used for any training purposes.

By law (in Pennsylvania, the laws vary state by state) a front headlamp and rear reflector are required, use of a rear blinky is up to the rider‘s discretion.

The "Nothing is Routine" safety video was created for the Midland Michigan Site to remind employees that we often forget that there are dangers even in our most routine tasks. The idea behind this video was to show three different activities that employees complete daily such as walking, office work, and working a product line. During these activities users can lose focus on safety and injury can and will occur. It was our goal to put the audience into these three situations and then show them the possible outcome if they are distracted and become complacent. Project Aura: Bicycle Safety Lighting System
Riding at night can be a daunting and dangerous task; many biking commuters are faced with the issue of being obscured when riding on the streets. Visibility at night is a vital component of biker safety, hence the need for reflectors and attachable lights. However, some of these devices are not always effective especially from the side. We created a system that requires very little rider input and maintenance, while increasing the visual footprint of bikers from all directions especially from the side. We accomplished this by expanding the surface area of light emitted through the use of RGB LEDs inside the rims of the wheels that change from red when slowing down to white when at cruising speed. Riding at night can be a daunting and dangerous task; many biking commuters are faced with the issue of being obscured when riding on the streets. Visibility at night is a vital component of biker safety, hence the need for reflectors and attachable lights. However, some of these devices are not always effective especially from the side.
We created a system that requires very little rider input and maintenance, while increasing the visual footprint of bikers from all directions especially from the side. We accomplished this by expanding the surface area of light emitted through the use of RGB LEDs inside the rims of the wheels that change from red when slowing down to white when at cruising speed.
It should be noted that Project Aura is a lighting system which allows a rider to be seen, but does not replace a forward facing headlight to illuminate the roadway. By law (in Pennsylvania, the laws vary state by state) a front headlamp and rear reflector are required, use of a rear blinky is up to the rider‘s discretion.
