Goregaon Film City, a major tourist attraction in Mumbai may soon get a makeover on the lines Hollywood in Los Angeles. The 500-acre Film City campus, which is expected to get a revamp, will give visitors the feel of Bollywood.

According to a Times of India report, Goregaon Film City will soon replicate Hollywood, as civic officials have been directed to devise a plan to develop the attraction site on the lines of Hollywood. The road to Film City is one of the areas that need a massive development. Municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta is therefore keen to remake Goregaon Film City including its surrounding areas in a way that will give a look and feel of Bollywood from all quarters.

Mehta was quoted telling to the website, "Yes, we are keen on improving the stretch leading to the Film City. The Film City road needs to be developed especially considering that every day numerous people flock the Film City, including tourists. I have already instructed my officials to work on a plan. We want to place signboards so that it stands out to be a much attractive tourist destination." According to sources, there are plans to introduce dedicated areas where visitors can meet actors and click pictures with them.

There are also reports that BMC is in talks with Maharashtra Film Stage And Cultural Development Corporation Ltd on ways to revamp the area surrounding the attraction. Referring to the development plan and bad conditions of the road to Film City, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit told to the website, “Right from the Goregoan Flyover up to the Film City, the entire road is in a bad shape, with footpaths at some stretches taken over by hawkers. Therefore it's a good idea if the BMC is considering to develop it. The road needs to be designed to look like one is entering the Film City and this could be done well if people from the industry and the BMC do it jointly.”

It is believed that the plan of refurbishing Goregaon Film City on the lines of Hollywood came to Mehta’s mind hewent inspect community toilets restored by Salman Khan for slum dwellers and tribal communities within Aarey Milk Colony.
