Craven
Craven is a local government district of North Yorkshire, England centred on the market town of Skipton. In 1974, Craven district was formed as the merger of Skipton urban district, Settle Rural District and most of Skipton Rural District, all in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It comprises the upper reaches of Airedale, Wharfedale, Ribblesdale, and includes most of the Aire Gap and Craven Basin.
The name Craven is much older than the modern district, and encompassed a larger area. This history is also reflected in the way the term is still commonly used, for example by the Church of England.
History
Craven has been the name of this district throughout recorded history. Its extent in the 11th century can be deduced from The Domesday Book but its boundaries now differ according to whether considering administration, taxation or religion.
Etymology
The derivation of the name Craven is uncertain, yet a Celtic origin related to the word for garlic (craf in Welsh) has been suggested as has the proto-Celtic *krab- suggesting scratched or scraped in some sense and even an alleged pre-Celtic word cravona, supposed to mean a stony region. In civic use the name Craven or Cravenshire had, before 1166, given way to Staincliffe. However the church Archdeaconry has kept its name as Craven throughout.

Beverley Craven (born 28 July 1963 in Colombo, Sri Lanka) is a British singer-songwriter best known for her 1991 UK Top 5 hit single "Promise Me". Her most recent album, Change of Heart, was released in 2014. Craven has sold over 4 million records in her career.
Biography
Early life
Although British, Craven was born in Colombo in July 1963 while her father was working for Kodak in Sri Lanka.
Two years later the family returned to Hertfordshire and Craven began taking piano lessons at the age of seven, encouraged by her mother, who was a classical violinist. Upon leaving school, she attended art college while performing with various bands in London pubs and writing songs. She was also an accomplished swimmer during her teens and competed in several local and national swimming competitions around the UK.
Craven did not buy her first pop record until she was 15 when she started buying records by singer-songwriters such as Elton John, Judi Tzuke, Stevie Wonder and, in particular, Kate Bush, all of whom influenced her music.

Wes Craven
Wesley Earl "Wes" Craven (August 2, 1939 – August 30, 2015) was an American film director, writer, producer, and actor known for his work on horror films, particularly slasher films.
He was best known for creating the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise featuring the Freddy Krueger character, directing the first installment and Wes Craven's New Nightmare, and co-writing A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors with Bruce Wagner.
Craven also directed all four films in the Scream series, and co-created the Ghostface character. Some of his other films include The Hills Have Eyes, The Last House on the Left, The People Under the Stairs, Red Eye, The Serpent and the Rainbow, and Vampire in Brooklyn.
On August 30, 2015, Craven died of brain cancer, at the age of 76, at his home in Los Angeles.
Early life
Craven was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Caroline (née Miller) and Paul Eugene Craven. He was raised in a strict Baptist family. Craven earned an undergraduate degree in English and Psychology from Wheaton College in Illinois and a master's degree in Philosophy and Writing from Johns Hopkins University.

Craven Marsh
Craven is a legendary Super on the run while trying to protect the young girl he saved from a life of abuse. Although it fits into a larger narrative, this short is mainly designed to show the Supers in action. This short film was developed for a feature film project called Craven Marsh as a pitch piece and rendered entirely in Cryengine. We did this with a crew of 6 people in 3 months from start to finish. We used Cinebox. Cinebox is the beta software that Crytek is developing as a film version of Cryengine. While at 20th Century Fox I got involved with the team at Crytek headed up by Kirthy Iyer to develop the tool. Craven is a legendary Super on the run while trying to protect the young girl he saved from a life of abuse. Although it fits into a larger narrative, this short is mainly designed to show the Supers in action.
This short film was developed for a feature film project called Craven Marsh as a pitch piece and rendered entirely in Cryengine.
We did this with a crew of 6 people in 3 months from start to finish. We used Cinebox. Cinebox is the beta software that Crytek is developing as a film version of Cryengine.
While at 20th Century Fox I got involved with the team at Crytek headed up by Kirthy Iyer to develop the tool. We started about 3 years ago helping to fashion Cryengine into a useful tool for Previsualization and linear content.
Because of the pipeline we developed using Cinebox we are able to produce a higher level of quality in about the same time it would take to do traditional previz.
If you look at this piece as a very advanced piece of previsualization you can begin to see the power.
Now that Cinebox is becoming better known, other companies are starting to jump on the bandwagon and are interested in the work we have been doing in developing this tool.
We put a lot of hard work into pioneering how this is implemented in a pipeline. We generated previs on Dawn Of The Apes and Maze Runner using it. We also did the work in the Recent "Ryse Son Of Rome" national television spot.

Walking down the street on a rainy March afternoon in Portland Oregon, I found myself looking down to avoid the rain in my face. Quickly the masses of old leaves clogging the side-street gutters while drowning in large pools of water, caught my eye as an interesting image. Luckily I had my camera with me and was able to put together this film, as a tribute to a cinematic hero of mine Krzysztof Kieslowski, in one wet and soggy day.
