NRS-2

The NRS-2 (special scout knife) (official GRAU index 6P25U) is a survival knife with a built-in single-shot shooting mechanism designed to fire an 7.62×42mm SP-3 (СП-3) cartridge, similar to the SP-4 cartridge designed for the PSS silent pistol).

It was manufactured by the Tula Arms Plant for Soviet Spetsnaz troops in the 1980s, and is still used as a personal weapon for modern Spetsnaz troops and special law enforcement groups. The NRS-2 is designed for the blade to either be stabbed or thrown at the enemy, or fire at the enemy using the inbuilt shooting mechanism at distances up to 25 metres.

Shooting mechanism

In order to use the inbuilt shooting mechanism, the opening lever is pressed, and the barrel rotated out of the knife handle, the cartridge is inserted into the firing chamber and the barrel is then inserted back into the handle and rotated back into place using two prongs that fit into the outer latch. The lever on the right side of the NRS-2 is then cocked while the safety catch located beside the barrel is turned to the "fire" position. Then the user's left hand is used to hold the knife blade, and the right hand to hold the knife handle, with the right index finger being placed on the trigger, which is located above the safety catch beside the gun barrel.

Desire

Desire is a sense of longing or hoping for a person, object, or outcome. The same sense is expressed by emotions such as "craving." When a person desires something or someone, their sense of longing is excited by the enjoyment or the thought of the item or person, and they want to take actions to obtain their goal. The motivational aspect of desire has long been noted by philosophers; Thomas Hobbes (1588–1679) asserted that human desire is the fundamental motivation of all human action.

While desires are often classified as emotions by laypersons, psychologists often describe desires as different from emotions; psychologists tend to argue that desires arise from bodily structures, such as the stomach's need for food, whereas emotions arise from a person's mental state. Marketing and advertising companies have used psychological research on how desire is stimulated to find more effective ways to induce consumers into buying a given product or service. While some advertising attempts to give buyers a sense of lack or wanting, other types of advertising create desire associating the product with desirable attributes, by showing either a celebrity or a model with the product.

Longing (song)

"Longing" is a song by Japanese heavy metal band X Japan, written by Yoshiki. The song is a ballad that has been released in several versions, most notably in two different single variations. The first, "Longing ~Togireta Melody~" (Longing ～跡切れたmelody～), was released as their eleventh single on August 1, 1995 and reached the number 1 spot on the Oricon chart. The second, "Longing ~Setsubou no Yoru~" (Longing ～切望の夜～), is their twelfth released on December 11, 1995 and reached number 5.

Summary

The song was first released as a demo tape titled "Longing ~Togireta Melody~", which was given out at X Japan's December 30-31, 1994 Tokyo Dome concerts. The demo also included a recording of the band practicing "Longing", "Break the Darkness", "Scars" and "Dahlia". In 2007, this demo tape was re-released on CD in the Aoi Yoru Shiroi Yoru Complete Edition, a DVD set of the two concerts where it was first released.

The first single of the song, released on August 1, 1995, is very similar to the demo and as such shares the same name. Although it is nearly a minute longer and includes drums, which the demo lacked. This is the version of the song that was included on the album, Dahlia. Released on December 11, 1995, the second single "Longing ~Setsubou no Yoru~", only includes Toshi's vocals and a symphony, and is much more melancholic than the other. This single's third track is another version of the song, where, instead of Toshi singing, Yoshiki reads the lyrics as one would a poem.
