Strawberry Elementary

A California Distinguished School

  • It is with honor and great pleasure that I greet you as the Principal of Strawberry Elementary School. Strawberry has enjoyed tremendous success as a beacon of academic excellence for our school district and for our state. The results have not materialized by accident. It has been through the hard work, dedication, and partnerships that have existed between school staff, parents, community members, and the most important stakeholders in the equation, the student body. This formula for success is what has embraced me from the very beginning when I walked through the doors of our facility. I am humbled and most appreciative of the opportunity presented to me to become a member of this educational family.

I have been privileged to have spent 16 wonderful years as an educator working with students from the elementary school, middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. The first introduction was at a young age, as the third-generation of Sonoma County educators from my family, some of my earliest memories are of summers spent on the campuses and in the classrooms of my parents; organizing materials and putting up bulletin boards. In high school and as an undergraduate, I volunteered at local elementary and middle schools as a student teacher helping develop curriculum and teach classes in technology, physical education, and fine art.  6 years were as a classroom teacher with SRCS and TUSD. The last 11 years have been as an administrator at the high school level in the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District. The commonality in the almost two decades of experience has been the collaboration with others to provide the best possible education experiences for students.

As the instructional leader of our fine school, I enthusiastically embrace the task of continuing to utilize fiscal, human, and material resources at my disposal to ensure that students are prepared with the necessary tools to be dynamic students as they write the next chapter of their educational lives moving toward middle school, high school, and beyond. I realize that differentiated, rigorous, and relevant instruction that meets the needs of each student will be the vehicle to continuing the success that has been experienced. The learning environment must be as safe and secure as possible for all students, staff, and support personnel. A team approach most definitely is necessary to create and maintain that desired learning environment.

I look forward to the exchange of ideas as we all work in harmony much like a symphony to create educational masterpieces for many years to come. I would like to welcome all of you to the 2016-2017 school year!

    Respectfully,

    Joshua M. Wilson
