London i/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It was founded by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile (2.9 km2) medieval boundaries and in 2011 had a resident population of 7,375, making it the smallest city in England. Since at least the 19th century, the term London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms Greater London, a region of England governed by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. The conurbation also covers two English counties: the small district of the City of London and the county of Greater London. The latter constitutes the vast majority of London, though historically it was split between Middlesex (a now abolished county), Essex, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire.

Finsbury Park is a 110-acre (46-hectare) public park in the London Borough of Haringey. Within the ward of the London neighbourhood of Harringay, Finsbury Park is in the area for centuries covered by the historic parish of Hornsey, succeeded by the Municipal Borough of Hornsey which are now, as with the Finsbury division of Middlesex from which it takes its name, generally associated with narrower areas beyond the park's boundaries. It was one of the first of the great London parks laid out in the Victorian era and served the whole of the Finsbury division which early developed into suburban and urban areas (based on the then discontinued Ossulstone hundred).
The park provides a large green space in central north London. It has a mix of open ground, formal gardens, avenues of mature trees and an arboretum area with a mix of more unusual trees. There is also a lake, a children's play area, a cafe and an art exhibition space.
London Grammar are a British trio formed by Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dominic 'Dot' Major. Their debut EP Metal & Dust was released in February 2013 by Metal & Dust Recordings Ltd, while their debut album If You Wait was released on 9 September 2013. If You Wait has been certified platinum in Australia and the UK, selling over 70,000 and 300,000 copies respectively.
Both vocalist Hannah Reid and guitarist Dan Rothman are originally from London and met in a residence hall at the University of Nottingham during their first year in 2009. Rothman saw a picture of Reid on Facebook with a guitar and sent her a message to see if she wanted to collaborate. They were joined by Northampton native Dominic 'Dot' Major (keyboard, djembe, drums) a year later, after he began playing music together with Rothman. They chose the name as "not only was it where we're from, but London is also so international and multicultural that it actually felt like quite a universal name in a way."
The Finsbury Park Mosque is a mosque located in Finsbury Park, London, London Borough of Islington, England.
The mosque was affected by leadership disputes in the 1990s, allowing extremist Islamist preachers (many of whom were refugees from the Algerian Civil War) to take it over. In 1996 they installed Abu Hamza al-Masri as imam of the mosque, which subsequently developed a reputation as a centre of radical Islamism in London.
In 2014, HSBC bank closed North London Central Mosque's bank account. Several reliable sources report that HSBC closed it because it donated some amount of money to the State of Palestine during the 2014 Israel–Gaza war.
The main building was opened in 1994 in a ceremony attended by Prince Charles. The mosque is located opposite Finsbury Park station, close to Arsenal Football Club's Emirates Stadium, in the London Borough of Islington.
Al Qaeda operatives including "shoebomber" Richard Reid and Zacarias Moussaoui attended the mosque. In 2002, The Guardian reported that weapons training had taken place inside the building.

Former CIA Operative Mike Baker on the van attack in London.
In UK a van has hit a crowd of pedestrians near Finsbury Park Mosque in north London, reportedly injuring at least 10 people. The Metropolitan Police have described it as a major incident, but has not specified whether this was a deliberate attack or an accident. Ambulances are at the scene, and one suspect has been arrested. The vehicle struck a group of Muslim worshippers, who had just attended a late-night Ramadan prayer service. According to eyewitnesses, the driver was wrestled to the ground by bystanders, and held until police arrived at the scene. LONDON was shot in the U.K. while a small trip during the holidays. I wanted this short to be representative of London's diversity, culture and life. During the 1920s, cinematographer Claude Friese-Greene travelled across the UK with his new colour film camera. His trip ended in London, with some of his most stunning images, and these were recently revived and restored by the BFI, and shared across social media and video websites. Since February I have attempted to capture every one of his shots, standing in his footsteps, and using modern equivalents of his camera and lenses. This has been a personal study, that has revealed how little London has changed. www.mrsimonsmith.com There have been lots of enquiries about the music ... This video is a time lapse of London shot in RAW footage to bring out the beautiful colours you find around London at day and at night. The film was produced by myself and I was lucky to have such a great team of people to work with. Joe Gallon provided all the shots and visual editing, he shot it on a Canon 5D Mark 2, as well as a Canon 550D and used a range of filters and lenses. Matt Fletcher composed the beautiful piano piece that flows with the pace of the footage and gives it momentum. Isla Day read the lovely poem Emma Bennallick and I wrote just for this project. Isla's innocent voice gives extreme contrast to how the poem usually reads and to how London is usually perceived, which creates a whole new way of looking at London. I did all the sound design and the final mix of ...

One arrested, several injured after vehicle hits pedestrians in London
LONDON was shot in the U.K. while a small trip during the holidays. I wanted this short to be representative of London's diversity, culture and life. "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."-Samuel Johnson Music by: ODESZA - How Did I Get Here (The EP is free to download at http://www.odesza.com/) Text Animation by Thibault de Fournas
Who does not like looking out of the window while being in a bus? Everything is shot handheld with an hd camera and a DIY 35mm adapter while sitting in one of those red vehicles of London. The music used is by Ratatat and is called "Loud Pipes", you can get it here if you like: http://www.amazon.com/Loud-Pipes/dp/B000SFOJNG Thanks to Angela, my delightful girlfriend, for the support!

I live in London. The capital city of England. One of the busiest cities in the world. I grew up in Great Malvern. Animation commissioned by Winsor and Newton to promote their new range of Pigment Markers.

When I wake up in the sunlight
And look into your eyes
And I hold you for a little while
And I see behind your smile
I remember how beautiful
I used to think you are
Now the only love that meant something is gone
I should have let you go
When I saw that
It was over in your eyes
What do I have to do?
To get rid of you
I'll be better on my own
Now I miss the sun
But as long as I'm with you
It's just another rainy day in London
Ooh, just another rainy day in London
I still hold on to the memory
Of how we were meant to be
And I wonder did you ever care
You were never there for me
I thought I was stronger
But then why am I here
With nothing left to say
Now the only love that meant something is gone
I should have let you go
When I saw that
It was over in your eyes
What do I have to do?
To get rid of you
I'll be better on my own
Now I miss the sun
But as long as I'm with you
It's just another rainy day in London
Ohh, Just another rainy day in London
(Just another day, Just another day)
I remember how beautiful
I used to think you think you are
I should have let you go
When I saw that
It was over in your eyes
What do I have to do?
To get rid of you
I'll be better on my own
Now I miss the sun
But as long as I'm with you
It's just another rainy day in London
