Brian (sometimes spelled Bryan) is a male given name of Irish and Breton origin, as well as a surname of Occitan origin. It is common in the English-speaking world. It is possible that the name is derived from an Old Celtic word meaning "high" or "noble". For example, the element bre means "hill"; which could be transferred to mean "eminence" or "exalted one". The name is quite popular in Ireland, on account of Brian Boru, a 10th-century king of Ireland. The name was also quite popular in East Anglia during the Middle Ages. This is because the name was introduced to England by Bretons following the Norman Conquest. Bretons also settled in Ireland along with the Normans in the 12th century, and 'their' name was mingled with the 'Irish' version. Also, in the north-west of England, the 'Irish' name was introduced by Scandinavian settlers from Ireland. Within the Gaelic speaking areas of Scotland, the name was at first only used by professional families of Irish origin. It was the fourth most popular male name in England and Wales in 1934, but a sharp decline followed over the remainder of the 20th century and by 1994 it had fallen out of the top 100. It retained its popularity in the United States for longer; its most popular period there was from 1968–1979 when it consistently ranked between eighth and tenth.

Alex Budman (Born February, 1973) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger from Sacramento, California, USA. He has lived in Los Angeles since 2005, playing mostly jazz and popular music. He plays the saxophone, clarinet, flute, keyboard and bass.
He has recorded on albums by many artists, including:

A city council, town council, town board, or board of aldermen is the legislative body that governs a city, town, municipality or local government area.
Because of the differences in legislation between the States, the exact definition of a City Council varies. However, it is generally only those local government areas which have been specifically granted city status (usually on a basis of population) that are entitled to refer to themselves as cities. The official title is "Corporation of the City of ------" or similar.
Some of the larger urban areas of Australia are governed mostly by a single entity (see Brisbane and other Queensland cities), while others maybe controlled by a multitude of much smaller city councils. Also some significant urban areas can be under the jurisdiction of otherwise rural local governments. Periodic re-alignments of boundaries attempt to rationalize these situations and adjust the deployment of assets and resources.
Local councils in New Zealand do vary in structure, but are overseen by the government department Local Government New Zealand. For many decades until the local government reforms of 1989, a borough with more than 20,000 people could be proclaimed a city. The boundaries of councils tended to follow the edge of the built-up area, so little distinction was made between the urban area and the local government area.

In Kerry, Brian Carmody had always loved a challenge and had completed 50 marathons worldwide. But in 2006 the unexpected happened and he contracted a heart valve virus. During surgery to replace the valve, he suffered a major stroke which caused paralysis down his left side and left him blind in one eye. Now aged 61, through sheer perseverance and the incredible support of his wife Mary, Brian walks and swims every day to increase mobility and he spends at least a half hour daily practising writing with his weak hand. But that's not all, both he and his wife Mary, are a driving force behind the Kerry Stroke Support Group which prompted a nomination for the Stroke Support Group Award from member Thomas O'Connor. He said: "Brian and his wife Mary have put so much effort and determination in...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR I am an Australian author. As a child I loved so much that I had to get glasses at age 6! I grew up with Tamora Pierce, Eoin Colfer, Brian Jacques, Isobelle Carmody and many more. I both loved and envied the characters and their adventures. I grew up checking antique cupboards just in case I found my version of Narnia and told my parents several times that I would have to run away because Peter Pan was taking too long to appear and I had to take things into my own hands. Perhaps it's no surprise that I started writing my own stories. My first published work was a poem I wrote when I was five - not quite on level of a Shakespearean sonnet, I'll admit. However, since then I've written many short stories and poem, but 'Wildfire' is my first novel. It is a fantasy novel for ...
