Plot: Neela and Avinash are medical students, and are attracted to each other. But Avinash is poor and wants Neela to live a comfortable life. When Neela, who tutors Monto Kappor, meets his elder businessman brother, Shekhar, he instantly falls in love with her. He goes to propose marriage with her and meets her brother, Kalidas, but is told that he should instead meet with Avinash. So Shekhar introduces himself to Avinash, tells him of his intentions, and Avinash instantly approves of him, and subsequently Shekhar and Neela are married. Both are concerned that Avinash did not attend the marriage. After a harmonious honeymoon, both return to their lives, and Shekhar would like Neela to continue with her medical studies. It is then he finds that Neela has been meeting on the sly with Avinash, and asks Monto to follow her everywhere and report to him, which he does. After considering all the facts, Shekhar comes to the conclusion that Neela is in love with Avinash and confronts her, they quarrel, he drinks his medicine, and passes out. The next day the police arrest Neela on the charge of murder. With Avinash nowhere to be found, Neela has now to face life behind bars - or even the death sentence.

Plot: Living the life of an upper-caste Brahman in a small village, naive and simple-minded Kali, falls in love with Pushpavali, a low-caste woman, much to chagrin of his widowed and abusive stepmother. When he persists with this romance, he is not only asked to leave the residence, but also the village along with Pushpavali. Both travel to another town and attempt to make a living. It is here that Pushpavali will be hired to sing in the palace of a learned but arrogant princess, and a Sage will entice Kali to enter into a competition with the princess - a move that will not only create problems between Pushpavali and him, but will also change his life forever.

Plot: An upper-caste but naive Brahman, Kali, falls in love with a lower caste woman, Pushpavali, much to the chagrin of his step-mother, who asks him to leave. Both Kali and his sweetheart are forced to depart, and end up in the kingdom ruled by an arrogant princess, who hires Pushpavali as a singer. Then Kali will find his life changed forever when he will be asked by a sage to compete against the princess.

He and Pushpavali both travel to a distant kingdom that is presided over by a king and his learned but arrogant daughter. The princess, after hearing the melodious voice of Pushpavali, hires her to sing at her palace. In her quest to marry a man who is more intelligent than her, she will invite several scholars to compete against her. Kali, urged by a Sage, also enters this competition - the results of which will not only estrange him from Pushpavali, but also change his life forever.
