CHAN-DT, virtual channel 8 (UHF digital channel 22), is a Global owned-and-operated television station located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, which serves as the West Coast flagship station of the network. The station is owned by the Shaw Media division of Shaw Communications. CHAN maintains studio facilities (alongside Global's national news centre) located on Enterprise Street in the suburb of Burnaby, and its transmitter is located atop Mount Seymour.
On cable, the station is available on Shaw Cable channel 11. On satellite, the station is also available on Bell TV channel 252, Shaw Direct channel 336 on the classic lineup and channel 5 on the advanced lineup, and Rogers Personal TV channel 119. There is also a high definition feed available on Shaw Cable digital channel 211, and Shaw Direct on classic lineup channel 002 or advanced lineup channel 502. The station is available throughout British Columbia through a large network of rebroadcasters.
The station first signed on the air at 4:45 p.m. on October 31, 1960. Founded by Vantel Broadcasting, it originally operated as an independent station. It acquired several programs from CTV upon that network's launch on October 1, 1961; it would eventually join the network formally in 1965. The station operated from a temporary studio housed at 1219 Richards Street in Downtown Vancouver, until its full-time studio facility at 7850 Enterprise Street in Burnaby was completed in early 1961. Soon after the station's launch, CHAN began installing relay transmitters across the province, and now reaches 96% of British Columbia. Through its over-the-air signal, CHAN also reaches an American audience in neighbouring Whatcom County, Washington.

ANCIENT EGYPT'S Advanced Engineering and Architectural Structures - Documentary Films Ancient Egypt was a civilization of old Northeastern Africa, focused along the lower reaches of the Nile River in exactly what is now the modern country of Egypt. It is just one of 6 civilizations globally to arise independently. Egyptian civilization coalesced around 3150 BC with the political unifications of Upper and Lower Egypt under the first pharaoh. The history of ancient Egypt happened in a series of stable Kingdoms, separated by durations of relative instability recognized as Intermediate Periods: the Old Kingdom of the Early Bronze Age, the Middle Kingdom of the Middle Bronze Age and the New Kingdom of the Late Bronze Age. 5 weeks prior to the opening of Expo 86 in Vancouver, Jack Webster broadcast a special episode of the Webster show on BCTV (now Global BC) to present the state of construction and what the public should look forward to when the exhibition opened on May 2nd, 1986. There was still a lot to be done when the show was broadcast, but when all was said and done Expo 86 went on to become an incredible success with over 22 million visitors If anyone knows Clive Jackson, recent retiree of Global BC, check out the 31:30 point of the video where he rode the Scream Machine roller coaster. Thought he might lose his lunch. Sorry about the odd stutter in the video. Was recorded on my PC from a 30 year old VHS tape. Amazed it still worked.
