Boise State men’s basketball coach Leon Rice will be the keynote speaker at the third annual Sports Stars of Canyon County Athletic Awards Night presented by Saint Alphonsus on June 15 at the Nampa Civic Center.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here. Individual tickets are $15, while tables of eight come with a discounted price of $100.

The top athletes, teams and coaches from the Idaho Press-Tribune’s coverage area will be honored during a banquet style event that begins at 6 p.m. A full buffet dinner is included in the price of admission.

Two overall winners for boys and girls athletes of the year will also be awarded with $1,000 scholarships for college.

Rice will provide the highlight of the night with his keynote address. He’ll look back on 20-plus years of coaching experience with personal stories that will be sure to bring laughter and motivate those in attendance.

Coach Rice just led Boise State to a fifth consecutive 20-win season. The Broncos have won at least 20 games in six of his seven seasons at the helm and have advanced to the postseason four times.

The Broncos have made two NCAA Tournament appearances under Rice and recently advanced to the second round of the NIT. The Broncos topped Pac-12 opponent Utah on the road in the first round of the NIT in March to mark the school’s first ever postseason win in a true road game.

Rice is already arguably the best coach in Boise State men’s basketball history and brings back a team that should contend for a Mountain West title next season.

Previous speakers at the Sports Stars of Canyon County Athletic Awards Night include College of Idaho men’s basketball coach Scott Garson and Boise State football defensive line coach Steve Caldwell.

Schedule permitting, Rice will be available for photos and autographs during a social hour from 5-6pm prior to the start of the event.

Space is limited, so fans are encouraged to purchase tickets well in advance.
