Arctic Monkeys are an English rock band formed in 2002 in High Green, a suburb of Sheffield. The band consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, lead guitar), Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals), Jamie Cook (lead guitar, rhythm guitar) and Nick O'Malley (bass, backing vocals). Former band member Andy Nicholson (bass guitar, backing vocals) left the band in 2006 shortly after their debut album was released.
They have released five studio albums: Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006), Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007), Humbug (2009), Suck It and See (2011) and AM (2013), as well as one live album, At the Apollo (2008). Their debut album is the fastest-selling debut album by a band in British chart history, and in 2013, Rolling Stone ranked it the 30th-greatest debut album of all time.
The band have won seven Brit Awards—winning both Best British Group and Best British Album three times, and have been nominated for three Grammy Awards. They also won the Mercury Prize in 2006 for their debut album, in addition to receiving nominations in 2007 and 2013. The band have headlined at the Glastonbury Festival twice, in 2007 and again in 2013.
The Arctic (/ˈɑːrktɪk/ or /ˈɑːrtɪk/) is a polar region located at the northernmost part of the Earth. The Arctic consists of the Arctic Ocean and parts of Alaska (United States), Canada, Finland, Greenland (Denmark), Iceland, Norway, Russia, and Sweden. The Arctic region consists of a vast ocean with a seasonally varying ice cover, surrounded by treeless permafrost. The area can be defined as north of the Arctic Circle (66° 33'N), the approximate limit of the midnight sun and the polar night. Alternatively, it can be defined as the region where the average temperature for the warmest month (July) is below 10 °C (50 °F); the northernmost tree line roughly follows the isotherm at the boundary of this region.
Socially and politically, the Arctic region includes the northern territories of the eight Arctic states, although by natural science definitions, much of this territory is considered subarctic. The Arctic region is a unique area among Earth's ecosystems. For example, the cultures in the region and the Arctic indigenous peoples have adapted to its cold and extreme conditions. In recent years, the extent of the sea ice has declined. Life in the Arctic includes organisms living in the ice, zooplankton and phytoplankton, fish and marine mammals, birds, land animals, plants and human societies.
"Do I" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Luke Bryan. It was released in May 2009 as the lead-off single from his album Doin' My Thing. Bryan co-wrote the song with Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley of the group Lady Antebellum, whose co-lead singer Hillary Scott is featured on background vocals.
Bryan told CMT that, "the song is about a couple that doesn't know if their worlds are right with each other, or they don't know how their relationship's going down hill".
The song is in the key of A major, with Bryan's vocals ranging from C♯4 to F♯5.
Stephen M. Deusner of Engine 145 gave the song a thumbs-down. Although he described the lyrics favorably by saying that "the scenario is all the more affecting for its mundanity" and "'Do I' implies no hint of a happily ever after, and that ambiguity gives the lyrics extra impact", Deusner criticized Bryan's vocal performance, saying "it never quite conveys much desperation or despair. There’s no worry in his voice, nor does it sound like he’s trying to keep a stoic front." Chris Neal of Country Weekly described the song favorably in his review of the album, saying that it "shows a knack for convincingly delivering hymns to thwarted love."
"I Wanna Know" is the lead single released from R&B musician Joe's third studio album My Name Is Joe and from the soundtrack to The Wood. The single was a huge hit across the U.S. reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 on July 1, 2000 and number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The single was released in November 1999 and went on to be Joe's third most successful hit in the U.S. behind "Stutter" (a subsequent release which peaked at number one on both the Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks charts) and "Thank God I Found You" alongside Mariah Carey & 98 Degrees, which made it to number one on both formats as well.
"I Wanna Know" topped the Billboard year-end charts for Top R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks Airplay in 2000. Additionally "I Wanna Know" was ranked fourth on Billboard Hot 100's Year-End Charts making it one of Joe's highest finishes on the year end charts.
According to the song's co-producer Edwin "Tony" Nicholas, "I Wanna Know" was originally intended for Joe's previous album All That I Am. He removed the song from the final tracklisting due to taking issue with the label heads wanting to be involved in the creative process. A few years later, he was asked to contribute a song to a soundtrack and claimed he didn't have anything to send to the record label. He then sent in "I Wanna Know" because it happened to be lying around the studio.

Stalk the Arctic ice with the fiercest predator, the polar bear, as it prowls one of the most forbidding places on the planet: a hidden kingdom of magnificent creatures. Armed with a keen sense of smell and backed up by 1,700 pounds, fur and fangs, the polar bear stands alone at the top of the food chain. Yet many other hunters manage to survive in and around harsh arctic waters from the savvy arctic fox to the massive, whiskered walrus. The Arctic ice is revealed as a place of danger and drama as animals are stranded on frozen waters, trapped between moving sheets of ice, and caught in the struggle to survive. Brave the worst that nature has to offer.
The coldest, windiest place on Earth holds 60 percent of the fresh water on the planet. Recent expeditions to the Weddell Sea produced more than 700 new species, including giant carnivorous sponges. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. Contrary to what the media is rattling off about above normal temperatures in the Arctic, the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) shows that temperatures are record low and just 1C above freezing. Also for the first time ever in history Squaw Valley and Tahoe ski areas will remain open for July 4th skiing and beyond. There is still so much snow up in the mountains that mountain biking and hiking is dangerous because of the still deep snows. Follow me on https://facebook.com/TSOphotography for more photos, videos & updates. This was filmed between 29th April and 10th May 2011 in the Arctic, on the archipelago Lofoten in Norway. My favorite natural phenomenon is one I do not even know the name of, even after talking to meteorologists and astrophysicists I am none the wiser. What I am talking about I have decided to call The Arctic Light and it is a natural phenomenon occurring 2-4 weeks before you can see the Midnight Sun. The Sunset and Sunrise are connected in one magnificent show of color and light lasting from 8 to 12 hours. The sun is barely going below the horizon before coming up again. This is the most colorful light that I know, and the main reason I have been going up there for the last 4 years, at the exact same ti...

A few months ago one of my best friends says, "Hey, flights to Norway are really inexpensive. You guys want to go?” After pondering this for 15 seconds I said yes. From there friends were added, an additional flight to the arctic circle area of the Lofoten Islands was planned and many cameras were packed in bags. Here you will find 3 minutes distilled from over six and a half hours of real-time footage I took. I couldn’t stop filming. It was one of the most epic trips of my life. The most beautiful place I have been on this planet so far. We got back less than a week ago. Even though I’m jet lagged still, I knew I had to get this out there right away. So hope you enjoy! If you haven’t been, go. If you have been, you know. Hopefully this inspires you to get out and travel more! And to all m...

It is the third time they have done so, cementing their place ever deeper in the halls of rock. The Sheffield band's frontman Alex Turner treated the audience to an acceptance speech in his deadpan Yorkshire accent, joking that he would not be delivering a thank-you list that no-one wanted to hear. His sarcastic sense of humour spilled over into the winners' room after the victory. When asked about the night Alex told reporters: "We're really delighted to be here tonight. We've had a great time. It was wonderful to perform before. Having our name on fire was something I was really looking forward to." In a more soberin...

Ex-Rascals frontman and co-founder of The Last Shadow Puppets with Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, Miles Kanes has chosen to strike out on his own. Not repudiating the sixties’ pop overtones that all Liverpudlian musicians carry in their genes, the British singer has placed his first solo album in the hallowed tradition of the Beatles and Lee Hazlewood.

UPDATE: I'll be in Svalbard again in the summer of 2018 - the same time of year this video was shot, partnered up with Icelandic nature photographer Daniel Bergmann: http://www.danielbergmann.com/workshops/2018-svalbard-expedition Why not join us and experience this for yourself? A short film showing off the majesty of the landscape of the high Arctic. Experience stunning aerial footage over sea ice, ice caps and glaciers as well as stunning mountain landscapes. See what it's like to encounter walrus and polar bears from a first person perspective! Please note: Some of this footage is from a small drone, other parts were made with head-mounted cameras. When flying the drone, we took great pains to stay well clear of birds and other wildlife. We explicitly set out to neither endanger nor...
I felt my voice broken
Looking for a sound for every word
By searching for a touch from the soul.
I've lost my place,
I carry the burden.
The voice inside knows no love anymore.
Leave me out this time my friend I've grown to hate.
Time out.
I'm out.
Shut up.
I'm out.
You fix it if it's broken,
You heal it if it's sick.
Some days never end,
Some days are never born.
Should I surrender?
Should I travel to your side?
You're the coldest December,
But I'm your coldest night.
(Yeah)
Shut up
Time out
I'm out
I never glow,
You never listen.
And I just can't pretend.
Why don't you burn me alive?
You get what you want.
You want what you get.
Is that the best you can do?
You can take all with you.
Should I surrender?
Should I travel to your side?
You're the coldest December,
But I'm your coldest night.
How can you not see?
