CNN Newsroom is an American news program on CNN/US.
Broadcasting throughout the week, Newsroom features live and taped news reports, in addition to analysis from experts on the issues being covered, and headlines throughout each hour. The program tends to focus on softer news than their hard news primetime lineup. The program is the standard "brand" for general rolling-news programming for the network, originating from their headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. It debuted in September 2006 replacing CNN Live Today, Live From, CNN Saturday, CNN Saturday Night, CNN Sunday and CNN Sunday Night.
CNN Newsroom airs continuously for seven hours starting from 9:00am ET until 4:00pm ET on weekdays and since the start of September 8, 2008, the program has employed a single-presenter format on such days. On weekends, it airs at various times with late-night editions.
The program shares the same name of an earlier CNN program, debuted in 1989, that was shown commercial-free by teachers in schools.
The Cable News Network (CNN) is an American basic cable and satellite television channel that is owned by the Turner Broadcasting System division of Time Warner. The 24-hour cable news channel was founded in 1980 by American media proprietor Ted Turner. Upon its launch, CNN was the first television channel to provide 24-hour news coverage, and was the first all-news television channel in the United States.
While the news channel has numerous affiliates, CNN primarily broadcasts from the Time Warner Center in New York City, and studios in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, its headquarters at the CNN Center in Atlanta is only used for weekend programming. CNN is sometimes referred to as CNN/U.S. to distinguish the American channel from its international sister network, CNN International. As of August 2010, CNN is available in over 100 million U.S. households. Broadcast coverage of the U.S. channel extends to over 890,000 American hotel rooms, as well as carriage on cable and satellite providers throughout Canada. Globally, CNN programming airs through CNN International, which can be seen by viewers in over 212 countries and territories.
A newsroom is the central place where journalists—reporters, editors, and producers, along with other staffers—work to gather news to be published in a newspaper and/or an online newspaper or magazine, or broadcast on radio, television, or cable. Some journalism organizations refer to the newsroom as the city room.
The concept of "newsroom" may also now be employed by some public relations practitioners, as representatives of companies and organizations, with the intent to influence or create their own "media".
In a print publication's newsroom, reporters sit at desks, gather information, and write articles or stories, in the past on typewriters, in the 1970s sometimes on specialized terminals, then after the early 1980s on personal computers or workstations. These stories are submitted to editors, who usually sit together at one large desk, where the stories are reviewed and possibly rewritten. Reporters generally used the inverted pyramid method for writing their stories, although some journalistic writing used other methods; some of the work of Tom Wolfe is an example of reporting that did not follow that style.
MSNBC Live is an American news-talk television program on MSNBC.
Focusing on live news coverage, the program consists of guest analysis and interviews around the stories of the day, in addition to feature-like stories, in-depth special reports, and The Weather Channel forecasts.
The program aired at various times through the years, but most recently aired Saturdays from 2-4pm ET, and Sundays from 3-4pm ET. In late 2014, the program's anchor Craig Melvin was reassigned, seeing the end of the program. Caught on Camera now airs in its place.
Following major changes to MSNBC's dayside lineup announced in February 2015, Thomas Roberts was appointed to a new weekday time slot from 1-3pm ET under the Live branding, beginning on March 2.
An additional 3 hours of MSNBC Live debuted on August 3, 2015, airing from 3-6pm ET, replacing the cancelled The Cycle, Now with Alex Wagner, & The Ed Show.
Thomas Roberts anchors the 1-3 pm block while Kate Snow anchors the 3-5 pm block. Weekend Today co-host Erica Hill and political anchor Steve Kornacki served as rotating hosts during the 6PM ET hour. When a story is deemed as breaking news, MSNBC producers have the discretion to replace any anchor with Breaking News Anchor Brian Williams.
Katharine Julia "Poppy" Harlow (born May 2, 1982) is a journalist, best known for her reporting at CNN and Forbes.com. She is a weekend anchor of CNN Newsroom. She was previously a business correspondent at CNN, CNN International and HLN, an anchor for CNNMoney.com, and a Forbes.com Video Network anchor, reporter and producer.
Harlow was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her father, an attorney, James Lee Harlow, died when she was 15, and her mother is Mary Louise Baird. She graduated from Columbia University, where she studied political science and Middle Eastern studies.
After interning at CBS while still in college, Harlow continued working for CBS MarketWatch and as an assistant producer for CBS Newspath after graduation. Harlow then became an anchor and reporter for NY1 News' Local Edition. While at NY1, Harlow's news beat covered Staten Island and New Jersey, including reports on local politics, the economy, and local cultural events.

We had the honor of Ambushing the great folks of CNN's Newsroom and Studios. Lots of great folks, lots of great questions, and lots of people who were glad to get a break for coffee in the midst of such a hard and emotional few days for news. Baristas who helped were Chandler Rentz, Alex Maes, Ren Doughty, Logan Miller, Jason Dominy and photo/video love came from Amanda Diegel. Coffee used was Batdorf & Bronson's Nicaragua Finca Santa Gema, Colombia Estrella Del Sur, and Guatemala Finca El Valle. Music by Mr. Little Jeans, "Rescue Song" (RAC Remix.)

When CNN interviewed Dennis Rodman, we threw ourselves into a violent fit of jealously. The kind of jealousy that makes you buy a boat just to set it on fire. The kind of jealousy that forces you to marry yourself in a fit of jealously (of yourself.) There was only one logical option at this point. We flew to Newsroom, USA and called our old friend D-Rod. This was the result. --- Video: Joel Fernando Zacheo: Zach Crain
