Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band formed in Leyton, east London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. The band's discography has grown to thirty-eight albums, including sixteen studio albums, eleven live albums, four EPs, and seven compilations.
Pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Iron Maiden achieved initial success during the early 1980s. After several line-up changes, the band went on to release a series of UK and US platinum and gold albums, including 1982's The Number of the Beast, 1983's Piece of Mind, 1984's Powerslave, 1985's live release Live After Death, 1986's Somewhere in Time and 1988's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Since the return of lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith in 1999, the band have undergone a resurgence in popularity, with their 2010 studio offering, The Final Frontier, peaking at No. 1 in 28 different countries and receiving widespread critical acclaim. Their sixteenth studio album, The Book of Souls, was released on 4 September 2015.
Bass cover of Iron Maiden's "Powerslave", from the 1984 masterpiece album of the same name. I have been meaning to upload a cover of this song for a while, and here it finally is. It's not perfect, but this was a pretty darn good take, if I may say so myself. Especially since this song has really enjoyed giving me a hard time since I first tried to record it a long while ago. Powerslave is easily my favorite 'Maiden album, and a top 3 metal record of all time for my personal tastes. Legendary stuff, and the entire album is a blast to play. The original bass line was played by Steve Harris. My cover deviates from his original line in a few minor sections towards the end of the lead break (I miss one fill due to me using my own), but other than that, I've followed the original. I'm playin...

Letra: Into the abyss i'll fall-the eye of horus into the eyes of the night-watching me go green is the cat's eye that glows-in this temple enter the risen osiris-risen again. Chorus tell me why i had to be a powerslave i don't wanna die, i'm a god, why can't i live on? when the life giver dies, all around is laid to waste. and in my last hour, i'm a slave to the power of death. When i was living this lie-fear was my game people would worship and fall-drop to their knees so bring me the blood and red wine for the one to succeed me for he is a man and a god-and he will die too. Chorus Now i am cold but a ghost lives in my veins, silent the terror that reigned-maarbled in stone shell of a man god preserved-a thousand ages but open the gates of my hell-i will str...

Local MP Lilian Greenwood has travelled blindfolded on a Nottingham City Transport bus to raise awareness of the importance of audio ‘next stop’ announcements during Guide Dogs Week (4th to 12th October). This year’s campaign for Guide Dogs Week – the annual fundraising and awareness-raising event for Guide Dogs – is ‘Talking Buses’. Its aim is to lobby the Government to make it a legal requirement for all buses to have audio and visual next stop announcements. Currently only 20% of buses in the UK have this facility – just 3% if London is discounted. Nottingham’s principal bus operator, Nottingham City Transport, bucks this national trend with 75% of its current fleet having next stop audio and visual announcements. NCT aims for this figure to be at 100% by 2016/17.
