According to a June 13 WGAL story, someone from an ambulance company talked about buying Narcan that most of the time takes three doses to bring the person back — and the other week it took five doses. I do agree that’s because of mixing fentanyl with heroin or straight fentanyl. Another reason they are using Narcan more is because there are more people using heroin and that’s because all the unwanted attention doctors are getting is leading them to cut patients off pain medication.

I truly believe they are getting scared now that they could start getting sued for, in some cases, overprescribing multiple pain meds. So when they get kicked off the pain meds, what’s the person to do? A lot of people have truly severe pain and need medicine, and they surely don’t want to go through withdrawals.

So in the end you have a lot of first-timers using heroin or ramped-up heroin and they don’t realize how much stronger it is. So now you have all of these new people getting an ambulance called for them, so you have the cost of that, too.

So the crackdown on pain meds being given by doctors is really working, huh? Backfire! Now it’s creating a bigger problem.
