In some biological taxonomy schemes, protists (/ˈproʊtᵻst/) were a large group of diverse eukaryotic, mainly unicellular microorganisms, that do not form tissues. Formerly, these were assigned to the now-obsolete kingdom Protista. However, in modern taxonomy the Protista are understood to be paraphyletic (not a clade), so the term remains in use only for convenience, similar to "invertebrate". An equivalent term Protoctista is used for these organisms by various organisations and institutions. Molecular analyses in modern taxonomy have been used to redistribute former members of this group into diverse and sometimes distantly related phyla. When used, the term “protists” is now considered to mean similar-appearing but diverse phyla that are not related through an exclusive common ancestor, and which have different life cycles, trophic levels, modes of locomotion, and cellular structures. Besides their relatively simple levels of organization, the protists do not have much in common.
Life on Earth 007 - Protists Paul Andersen surveys organisms in the protists. He reviews the diversity found within the domain Eukarya and explains that the Kindgom Protista is simple a junk drawer for organisms that don't fit elsewhere. Hank veers away from human anatomy to teach us about the (mostly) single-celled organisms that make up two of the three taxonomic domains of life, and one of the four kingdoms: Archaea, Bacteria, and Protists. They are by far the most abundant organisms on Earth, and are our oldest, oddest relatives. This HD dramatic video choreographed to powerful music introduces the viewer/student to the microscopic kingdom of the Protists. It is designed as a motivational "trailer" to be shown in Biology classrooms in middle school, high school and college as a visual Introduction to the amazing world of these tiny creatures. To purchase this program please visit http://www.greatpacificmedia.com/ Segment from the program Protists: The Origins of Eukaryotic Diversity. DVD Description Our Protist DVD explores the evolutionary history of eukaryotes while examining the incredible diversity that exists in kingdom Protista reflected in organisms such as Euglena which have both animal and plant-like qualities. The program then looks at animal-like zooflagellates, sarcodines, ciliates, and sporozoans; fungus-like slime molds, and plant-like dinoflagellates, diatoms, and englenoids. Multicellular red, brown and green algae are examined and why modern biology places all three in kingdom Protista rather than kingdom Plantae explained.
A song about Protists! The music was made by iWouldwantSky, and the video by me. We did it for a grade 12 biology project. Thanks for watching, please drop a like if you enjoyed it. (the lyrics are below) lyrics Introduction: Protista come in 3 different flavours Plant, Fungi and Animal behaviors they also have different modes of nutrition that help taxonomist give them definition, (like) Autotrophic, the energy composers. Saprotrophic, fungi-like decomposers Heterotrophic, the predator variety and parasitic, the leeching notoriety Chorus: Protista, yah, the kingdom that's got it all diversity that shames plant, fungi and animals If it got a nucleus and is aerobic too Multi, unicellular, or colonial will do Always are found in moist conditions Many different ways of getting nutrition T...

kein radar orten/ meine kehle bleibt trocken
kein blut vergossen/ kein puto getroffen
bekifft und besoffen/ du eingeschlossen
bekifft und besoffen/ du eingeschlossen
dicht seit wochen/ bleibt nichts zu hoffen

wir brechen sie/ high wie hydro
wir reden laut/ breite seite yo
ihr kontrolliert uns nie
2.Strophe
fast spucken/ hier tanzen mörderpuppen/ gepanzerte truppen
in verlangsamten zeitlupen/ keine zeit zurückzuspulen
Refrain (3mal):
Ihr stellt regeln auf/ scheiss drauf
wir brechen sie/ high wie hydro
wir reden laut/ breite seite yo
ihr kontrolliert uns nie
