Wings - Starring Clara Bow, Charles Buddy Rogers, Richard Arlen, and Gary Cooper Release Date: August 12, 1927
Created this one a couple of years ago, the original got taken down but was reposted by earlorr69. Since Wings recently came out on Blu-ray, thought I would take the opportunity to recut using the much improved 2012 remaster of the film. Enjoy! Note: The sepia tint was how this portion of the film was originally presented in 1927. Buddy Rogers imbibes a lot of champagne while on leave in Paris in this epic motion picture from 1927. The crane shot is a wonderful bit of early cinematic choreography. I added Charles Trenet's "Je Chante" because I love it and it seemed to work so well here...

A video I made on the making of the first Best Picture, Wings, from 1927, and the history of its director, William Wellman. This is part 1.
Acclaimed for its technical prowess and realism upon release, Wings (Les Ailes) went on to win the first Academy Award for Best Picture at the first annual Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award ceremony in 1929, the only fully silent film to do so.
Steven Ball, Staff organist of the Michigan Theater Ann Arbor, Accompanies the 1927 thriller WINGS on an original 3/13 Barton Theater Pipe Organ with his own score. This is as original as it gets!
Never needed time love,
Cos' it's the only way.
My feet are on the ground
but my head is all around.
Don't need no wings to fly away,
don't need no love for today.
Watching all the world
floating in the sky.
Waiting for the word
