#BodilyAutonomy is a pathway to bring in the people who panic when we talk "identity." I mean those guys piss me off, but whatever. /9

#BodilyAutonomy means decriminalizing childhood. Decriminalizing homelessness. Decriminalizing disability. /8

#BodilyAutonomy means decriminalizing drugs. Come on libertarian stoners, join me. /7

#BodilyAutonomy means the right of sex workers to control their bodies and how they use them. /6

#BodilyAutonomy means queer rights not only in terms of have any kind of sex you want, sure, but also no coercive "conversion" therapy. /5

#BodilyAutonomy means trans rights. Across the board. Trans rights. /4

#BodilyAutonomy means reproductive rights. Everyone has the right to control their own reproductive decisions. No exceptions. /3

#BodilyAutonomy means disability rights. Opposes eugenics, coercive therapy, institutionalization, mandatory drugs, invol. surgery. /2

Let's talk about #BodilyAutonomy as a core Democratic party value. A core American value. Is there a better term for it? More catchy? /1

I just feel like bodily autonomy needs to be on the forefront of our discourse. Maybe with different words?

Bodily autonomy. I'm thinking about this in terms of disability rights. But also reproductive rights. A connection point. Non-negotiable.

Bodily autonomy is the core principle for disability rights. State control over reproduction will be a tool to violate bodily autonomy.

Bodily autonomy does well for decriminalization, anti-stop and frisk, universal healthcare, LGBTQ rights, and more.

Bodily autonomy is key for disability rights, of course (see @smneumeier for @NOSeditorial - http://nosmag.org/disability-rights-must-be-pro-choice/ …)

But if Dems said: We support people's rights over their own bodies as a broad general principle, I'd be pretty happy with the party.

I want Democrats to say: We support people's rights over their own body. For disability rights, repro rights, decriminalization, & more.

We are so HOSTILE to bodily autonomy. People have so many opinions about my surgeries, my piercings, my tattoos, my uterus.
