This ranks the Times of India as the top English daily in India by readership.
It is owned and published by Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. which is owned by the Sahu Jain family. In the Brand Trust Report 2012, Times of India was ranked 88th among India's most trusted brands and subsequently, according to the Brand Trust Report 2013, Times of India was ranked 100th among India's most trusted brands. The Times is a British daily national newspaper based in London. It began in 1785 under the title The Daily Universal Register and became The Times on 1 January 1788. The Times and its sister paper The Sunday Times (founded in 1821) are published by Times Newspapers, since 1981 a subsidiary of News UK, itself wholly owned by the News Corp group headed by Rupert Murdoch. The Times and The Sunday Times do not share editorial staff, were founded independently and have only had common ownership since 1967.
In 1959, historian of journalism Allan Nevins analysed the importance of The Times in shaping the views of events of London's elite:
The Times is the first newspaper to have borne that name, lending it to numerous other papers around the world, including The Times of India (founded in 1838), The Straits Times (Singapore) (1845), The New York Times (1851), The Irish Times (1859), Le Temps (France) (1861-1942), the Cape Times (South Africa) (1872), the Los Angeles Times (1881), The Seattle Times (1891), The Manila Times (1898), The Daily Times (Malawi) (1900), El Tiempo (Colombia) (1911), The Canberra Times (1926), and The Times (Malta) (1935). In these countries, the newspaper is often referred to as The London Times or The Times of London.
India, officially the Republic of India (Bhārat Gaṇarājya), is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west;China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Myanmar (Burma) and Bangladesh to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; in addition, India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.
Home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. Four religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism—originated here, whereas Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam arrived in the 1st millennium CE and also shaped the region's diverse culture. Gradually annexed by and brought under the administration of the British East India Company from the early 18th century and administered directly by the United Kingdom after the Indian Rebellion of 1857, India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi.

This is the journey of deep southern India !! Last year, me & my friend Rajesh went to Thiruvananthapuram (kerala) to attend a friends wedding (Rajeev & Swati). We stayed there almost a week & got to see places like Varkala, Kovalam, Kanyakumari & Rameswaram. While travelling, I managed to shoot a bit and though of making a travel-log. There is so much to see and witness the peace & greenery all over. We enjoyed the south Indian menu and meeting simple people during our stay. I can’t say it enough. Kanyakumari (Tamilnadu) is the last tip of southen India. Like all edges, there's a sense of the surreal here. At certain times of year you can see the sun set and the moon rise over three seas simultaneously. The Temple of the Virgin Sea Goddess, Swami Vivekananda's legacy, Thiruvalluvar st...
I asked Shikha and Harry, “if there is anywhere in the world that you could have a pre-wedding shoot where would it be?" They responded "Jaipur India." My response was "OK when shall we go?" For me when a couple commit to flying myself and an assistant halfway across the world, there comes a certain pressure. I knew I wanted this to be on a different level to what the general market expected. I always want to feel proud of my shoots on a commercial level and not just work with the expectation of my wedding clients. I needed to aim higher. Both the couple and I produced a mood board. I actually put my clients to work. We came up with the theme of 'contrast / clash of cultures'. I wanted Harry and Shikha to look out of place, not in their behavior but in their appearance. Ideal locations ...
An unrelenting land of traffic, colour and culture - through the midst of the frantic chaos that was all consuming, it is easy to overlook the peaceful balance that India holds. A country that admittedly is as frustrating to travel as it is rewarding, its sights and sounds prove to be overwhelming at times (most times); and is perhaps the one of the most difficult places in which to capture the gentle nature of life… But beneath the chaos, an energy channels the people, creates life and holds a unique peacefulness that has often been long-forgotten in more modern societies. From the vibrant coloured saris from even the poorest castes, to the traffic congesting presence of cattle on the streets, it goes without saying that India is a unique land, unlike any other.. Lagaan Once Upon a Time in India 2001
Well some kid got the lock down
'Cause he got flip with an officer
No you don't do that in this town
Unless you can bail yourself out
Some kids got the kick down
Fightin' straights from Fenway Park
But who was in the right now
And who still feels the scars?
Whoah, pick yourself up now, lets go
Now when we come to your town
Ain't no one gonna be a thug
But we're gonna have a lot of words now
So ya tough hoods listen up
I seen ya drinkin' down the river
I seen ya fightin' at the shows
I seen em crawl from every niche around
And then I've seen em go
These are the times
And I don't care how it happens
Things just gotta change
Are you in it for a lifetime
Are you giving back what you take
Is what I'm saying sinking in
Or is it just another wasted day
Theres one thing that they got that we ain't got
Its the long arm of the law
When the mace came out I clutched the ground
Then they kicked me up some more
