Sidney Bracey (18 December 1877 – 5 August 1942) was an Australian-born American film actor. After a stage career in Australia, on Broadway and in Britain, he appeared in 321 films between 1909 and 1942.
He was born in Melbourne, Victoria, with the name Sidney Bracy, later changing the spelling of his last name. He was the son of Welsh tenor Henry Bracy and English actress Clara T. Bracy. His aunt was actress Lydia Thompson.
He began his stage career in Australia in the 1890s, with the J. C. Williamson's comic opera companies. On Broadway, in 1900, he appeared as Yussuf in The Rose of Persia at Daly's Theatre in New York. He then moved to England, appearing as Moreno in the musical comedy The Toreador at the Gaiety Theatre, London in June 1901. He next joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company on tour in Britain, playing Terence O'Brian in The Emerald Isle from September 1901 to May 1902. He then left the D'Oyly Carte, continuing his stage career in Britain. He appeared in Amorelle at London's Comedy Theatre in 1904, The Winter's Tale in 1904-05, and A Persian Princess at Queen's Theatre in 1909.
Sidney may refer to:
We Live is the fifth studio album by English doom metal band Electric Wizard. It is the first recorded with the band's second line-up. Due to the addition of second guitarist Liz Buckingham, the songs are more complex than their previous work.
Much was made of the acrimonious split between sole remaining member Jus Oborn and ex-members Mark Greening and Tim Bagshaw. Oborn has given few interviews since the original line-up split, but We Live is obviously something of a statement of intent for the band. They are named "The Electric Wizard" for the first time on the album cover, and "Electric Wizard II" in the booklet. The booklet also contains the statement: "My enemies, I fear not...but God protect me from my friends".
For this release, Electric Wizard continued to be inspired by horror movies. "Eko Eko Azarak" is the title of the first in a series of Japanese horror movies directed by Shimako Sato, while "Tutti I Colori Del Buio" and "Living Dead at Manchester Morgue" are named after a 1972 Sergio Martino movie and a 1974 Jorge Grau horror movie, respectively. Furthermore, the track "We Live" samples dialog from Don Sharp's 1973 horror film Psychomania.
Merrily We Live (1938) is a comedy film directed by Norman Z. McLeod, starring Constance Bennett and Brian Aherne and featuring Ann Dvorak, Bonita Granville, Billie Burke, Tom Brown, Alan Mowbray, Clarence Kolb and Patsy Kelly. The film was produced by Hal Roach for Hal Roach Studios, and was released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The screenplay is by Eddie Moran and Jack Jevne.
The film is considered to have set the standard for later family comedy films and TV sitcoms. A number of critics have erroneously claimed that the film is based on the 1936 film My Man Godfrey when in fact it is a reworking of the 1930 movie What a Man, based on the 1924 novel The Dark Chapter; a Comedy of Class Distinctions by E. J. Rath and its 1926 Broadway adaptation They All Want Something by Courtenay Savage.
This was the 5th of six films that Billie Burke and Alan Mowbray collaborated in. The others were Where Sinners Meet (1934), Becky Sharp (1935), She Couldn't Take It (1935), Topper (1937) and Topper Takes a Trip (1938).
The Doll Family, also billed as The Dancing Dolls, were a quartet of four dwarf siblings from Germany who were popular performers in circuses and sideshows in the United States from the 1920s until their retirement in the mid-1950s. They also appeared briefly in films.
The Dolls were 4 of 7 children born to Emma and Gustav Schneider in Stolpen, Germany (the other 3 were average-sized). Harry and Grace were the first of the quartet to perform in sideshows, as "Hansel and Gretel". In 1914, American entrepreneur Bert W. Earles saw them and brought them to the United States to tour with the 101 Ranch Wild West Show. The siblings lived in Pasadena, California with the Earles family. Earles also brought Daisy and Tiny to the United States (in 1922 and 1926 respectively), where they joined Harry and Grace in their act.

FILM DESCRIPTION: The genesis of MGM's Freaks was a magazine piece by Ted Robbins titled Spurs. The story involved a terrible revenge enacted by a mean-spirited circus midget upon his normal-sized wife. In adapting Spurs for the screen, writers Willis Goldbeck, Leon Gordon, Edgar Allan Wolf, and Al Boasberg retained the circus setting and the little man-big woman wedding, all the while de-vilifying the midget and transforming the woman into the true "heavy" of the piece. Hello! I've decided..."Merrily We Live" is my all-time FAVORITE Romantic Comedy Classic--I just love it and have to spotlight it for you! "Merrily We Live" is one of the best examples of Classics which heralded the beginning of Family Comedies! It has such a FULL story (great dialog, great antics!) There are so many scenes that I'd love to talk with you all about! Ok, for instance, can you BELIEVE what the Dad does with that staircase on his "Boy's Night Out"?! XD What agility and balance at his age!! There are so many more truly funny moments in this movie. I hope you all catalog it in your memory for times when you just want a laugh, and a great story with wonderful actors and actresses. Or, pull it up for when you might be going through hard times, stressful days or nights,...
A young and pretty waitress learns to know a famous, but alcohol-addicted actor at a Hollywood party, who falls in love with right away with the pretty girl. He recognizes her great talent and promotes her. She quickly rises to stardom in Hollywood, while the alcohol completely destroys him. This pretty trivial story was filmed in Hollywood several times. Among others with Barbara Streisand (1976) and Judy Garland (1954). This version, however, is the most successful ever.

SOLDIER ON: A major role in Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge was a life-changing experience for Home & Away actor Luke Bracey. Since his tour of duty as Trey Parker in the long-term soapie Home & Away, Sydney actor Luke Bracey has quickly established himself internationally, appearing in such films as Monte Carlo, GI Joe: Retaliation, The November Man, The Best of Me and Point Break. In Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge Bracey plays buff soldier Smitty Ryker opposite Andrew Garfield, who stars as Desmond Doss, the real-life soldier who vowed to participate in battle without killing anybody. As something of a World War 2 buff, Bracey embraced the opportunity to be part of the film. As he explains in this interview, it also proved to be a huge learning experience for him, both as an actor working wi...
The Hacksaw Ridge cast Announced As GQ Ensemble Of The Year at the Australian award ceremony in Sydney. Well regarded by critics and successful at the box office, Hacksaw Ridge was beaten only to the top of the theatre charts by Marvel’s Dr Strange blockbuster. The film marks not only a return to form for Mel Gibson but shines a light on an ensemble cast of talented Australian actors. To date the WWII epic has grossed $42 million worldwide. It follows the true story of Pfc. Desmond T. Doss, who won the Congressional Medal of Honor despite refusing to bear arms during WWII on religious grounds. This tale of war may be framed by America – though this was very much an Australian production. Shot on location in and around Sydney, it marked Mel Gibson’s return to form – while elevating local...

In the forthcoming December issues of GQ Australia Tom Hiddleston says of Hemsworth: "One morning on the set of Thor: Ragnarok, I watch Chris zero in on an important scene between Thor and Loki with razor-sharp focus and commitment. There are so many scenes that I'd love to talk with you all about!
