Treasure hunting is the physical search for treasure.
In recent times, the early stages of the development of archaeology included a significant aspect of treasure hunt; Heinrich Schliemann's excavations at Troy, and later at Mycenae, both turned up significant finds of golden artifacts. Early work in Egyptology also included a similar motive.
More recently, most serious treasure hunters have started working underwater, where modern technology allows access to wrecks containing valuables which were previously inaccessible. Starting with the diving suit, and moving on through Scuba and later to ROVs, each new generation of technology has made more wrecks accessible. Many of these wrecks have resulted in the treasure salvage of many fascinating artifacts from Spanish treasure fleets as well as many others.
Treasure hunting is condemned by a growing number of nations, and UNESCO issued a chart for the protection of the underwater cultural heritage in 2001: the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage. This convention is a legal instrument helping states parties to improve the protection of their underwater cultural heritage.

The Philippines (i/ˈfɪlᵻpiːnz/; Filipino: Pilipinas [ˌpɪlɪˈpinɐs]), officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino: Republika ng Pilipinas), is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of about 7,500 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila and the most populous city is Quezon City; both are part of Metro Manila.
To the north of the Philippines across the Luzon Strait lies Taiwan; Vietnam sits west across the South China Sea; southwest lies Malaysia in the island of Borneo across the Sulu Sea, and to the south the Celebes Sea separates it from other islands of Indonesia; while to the east it is bounded by the Philippine Sea and the island-nation of Palau. Its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons, but also endows it with abundant natural resources and some of the world's greatest biodiversity. At approximately 300,000 square kilometers (115,831 sq mi), the Philippines is the 72nd-largest country in the world.
A metal detector is an electronic instrument which detects the presence of metal nearby. Metal detectors are useful for finding metal inclusions hidden within objects, or metal objects buried underground. They often consist of a handheld unit with a sensor probe which can be swept over the ground or other objects. If the sensor comes near a piece of metal this is indicated by a changing tone in earphones, or a needle moving on an indicator. Usually the device gives some indication of distance; the closer the metal is, the higher the tone in the earphone or the higher the needle goes. Another common type are stationary "walk through" metal detectors used for security screening at access points in prisons, courthouses, and airports to detect concealed metal weapons on a person's body.
The simplest form of a metal detector consists of an oscillator producing an alternating current that passes through a coil producing an alternating magnetic field. If a piece of electrically conductive metal is close to the coil, eddy currents will be induced in the metal, and this produces a magnetic field of its own. If another coil is used to measure the magnetic field (acting as a magnetometer), the change in the magnetic field due to the metallic object can be detected.
Gold is a chemical element with symbol Au (from Latin: aurum) and atomic number 79. In its purest form, it is a bright, slightly reddish yellow, dense, soft, malleable and ductile metal. Chemically, gold is a transition metal and a group 11 element. It is one of the least reactive chemical elements, and is solid under standard conditions. The metal therefore occurs often in free elemental (native) form, as nuggets or grains, in rocks, in veins and in alluvial deposits. It occurs in a solid solution series with the native element silver (as electrum) and also naturally alloyed with copper and palladium. Less commonly, it occurs in minerals as gold compounds, often with tellurium (gold tellurides).
Gold's atomic number of 79 makes it one of the higher atomic number elements that occur naturally in the universe. It is thought to have been produced in supernova nucleosynthesis from the collision of two neutron stars and to have been present in the dust from which the Solar System formed. Because the Earth was molten when it was just formed, almost all of the gold present in the early Earth probably sank into the planetary core. Therefore, most of the gold that is present today in the Earth's crust and mantle is thought to have been delivered to Earth later, by asteroid impacts during the late heavy bombardment, about 4 billion years ago.
Treasure (from Greek θησαυρός - thēsauros, meaning "treasure store",romanized as thesaurus) is a concentration of riches, often those that originate from ancient history, considered lost and/or forgotten until being rediscovered. Some jurisdictions legally define what constitutes treasure, such as in the British Treasure Act 1996.
The phrase "blood and treasure" or "lives and treasure" has been used to refer to the human and monetary costs associated with massive endeavours such as war that expend both.
Searching for hidden treasure is a common theme in legend; treasure hunters do exist, and can seek lost wealth for a living.
A buried treasure is an important part of the popular beliefs surrounding pirates. According to popular conception, pirates often buried their stolen fortunes in remote places, intending to return for them later (often with the use of treasure maps).
There are three well known stories that helped popularize the myth of buried pirate treasure: "The Gold-Bug" by Edgar Allan Poe, "Wolfert Webber" by Washington Irving and Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. They differ widely in plot and literary treatment but all are derived from the William Kidd legend. Stevenson's Treasure Island was directly influenced by Irving's "Wolfert Webber", Stevenson saying in his preface "It is my debt to Washington Irving that exercises my conscience, and justly so, for I believe plagiarism was rarely carried farther.. the whole inner spirit and a good deal of the material detail of my first chapters.. were the property of Washington Irving."

English/Nat Government officials in the Philippines have uncovered two tons of platinum worth around 26 (m)million US dollars. The hoard is believed to be part of a massive amount of treasure stolen by a Japanese general in World War Two. For decades, treasure hunters have searched for riches rumoured abandoned by retreating Japanese forces at the end of World War II. Now their quest seems to have been vindicated - with the discovery of the supposed Yamashita treasure. According to financial experts, the two-foot, bell-shaped lump of platinum - a metal more valuable than gold - would bring about 26 (m) million dollars on international markets. Tomoyuki Yamashita was the commander of Japanese forces in the Philippines towards the end of World War Two. He was rumoured to ha...

There are literally thousands of places like this to go treasure hunting in the Philippines waterfalls. Most wouldn't think of it as they're more accustomed to thinking treasure hunting only applies to diving wrecks in the ocean. Another cool place is in the pools at the bottom of cascading waterfalls. In this video I'm going treasure hunting in these waterfalls. While I was in the pool I seen a big hole that I wanted to go into but I didn't have a light. Will have to save that for next time. I'm sure you'll be wondering what I'm looking for here. Well, when I find it...you will know. These are a beautiful set of waterfalls here in Zambales. There are several instances of them with their own pools cascading down from the top of the mountains here. We only went to 1, but there was so...

The Japanese have taken a targeted looting on a large scale. According to one estimate they have about 4000-6000 tons of gold and other precious metals, precious stones, coins, banknotes, art and antiques stolen. The value of the stolen treasures in 12 Asian countries should be at about $ 100 billion. Much is hidden in the Philippines.

I was thinking how to try to explain
Why I couldn't do this way anymore
When We went together straight up the cliff
I remembered how it had begun long ago.
Lightings flashed and in their light
we all stared at the weird map.
We were so agitated and we heard the ancient call.
We decided unanimously to keep together till
The death or fatal disease doesn't part us...
We decided to be ready to do anything..
And to find the Treasure of Kings.
We travelled far for five long years. Trying hard. Doing best.
We really thought that we were close. Sombre cave, wooden chest.
But every time when another day is gone
I had to say myself that we were wrong.
We prayed a lot and we believed just one step and we're at site.
But at the time when the sun went down I had thoughts I couldn't hide.
We could pretend that we're on the proper way
But we just marked the time from day to day.
And standing on edge of the cliff I thought how to try to explain.
But all my thoughts led to the one, whose that fault was.
Suddenly I had understood that my friends just waited for a chance,
