In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple. I developed these videos as an unconventional approach to teaching Travel and Tourism English to EFL/ESL students. It's also an unconventional approach to tourism itself—hence the name Paradigmaclast. Most vacations are what I call "glass bubble tourism." I'm encouraging "full contact tourism," both for more fulfilling vacations and for a better world. Making the videos look like the work of a faraway company rather than a local teacher is part of that new paradigm in teaching. After all, people are more willing to listen to an expert than to someone who lives and works among them. As Will Rogers said, "An expert is a man 50 miles from home with a briefcase." Further, by this means, I hope to get more honest feedback from the students. As for the teaching approach using humor and s...

LOCALS ONLY: Hi, I'm Scott Bender and I created the show Locals Only. This teaser trailer is our intro to the show and hopefully helps give you an idea of what you will see in the episode to come. If the teaser wasn't enough, let me explain. Locals Only is a show that will act as your food and travel guide to cities you may have never been, or to a city you currently live in. I have asked dozens of people what their favorite restaurants are and what their favorite things to do are. Then I tallied it up, chose the best, and looked at it from a backpackers point of view. Asking, what can I do, where can I eat, and how can I get the best experience on a reasonable budget? I want to show anyone who is willing what some of the best places are that most local people venture to, and hel...
HQ. gestalt work on awareness, part 1. hebrew subtitles added. BY FRANKLYN WEPNER SEPTEMBER 1, 2006 HOW I WORK: GESTALT DREAMWORK AS THEATER AND PROPHECY GESTALT DREAM WORK AS PREPARATION FOR PERFORMING Since 1975 I have been using Gestalt work on awareness, dreams and personal relationships as a way to train and direct performers. The basic principle is simple. I use the Gestalt work to peel the onion of layer after layer of social cliches, ego games and unfinished personal business, and then I do the reverse process reconstituting the onion in the form of characters or other artist structures. The existential message of the dream becomes the superobjective or action of the tragedy...

Lecture and book launch by writer, author, and curator Geoff Manaugh as part of MAS Context’s 2016 Spring Talks series. The lecture took place on Friday, May 27 at Studio Gang Architects. It was co-organized with the Seminary Co-op Bookstore. Burglary requires architecture—without buildings, burglars themselves cannot exist. It is an explicitly spatial crime. Burglary also has a very peculiar relationship with the built environment, engaging with structures not for their aesthetics or their historical references, but for the tactical value of a handhold, a shadow’s opportunity for stealth, and the potential for illicit entrance posed by rooftops and maintenance corridors. Geoff Manaugh, author of the new book A Burglar’s Guide to the City, explored more than two thousand years’ worth of...

Verse 1: I became her lover, she became my lover. Had her heart broke, I was helping her recover. I became the man she knew she could rely on. Somebody to listen or shoulder to cry on. She was getting better, better she was getting. The more time spent, the more she would forget him. But then back around he seen that he started coming, and shes on the low taking phone calls from him. I thought that we were building something strong. He apologizes and now your gone. And I won't put up with this.
Pre-chorus: You wanna go. (Go.) Just hope you know. Baby your gonna be lonely, lonely again. Oh lonely, lonely. Go on go, go. Just hope you know. (Hey.) Baby your gonna be lonely, lonely again. Lonely, lonely again.
Chorus: Don't call me when your lonely again. When your lonely again, lonely again. Oh, sugga don't call me when your lonely again, when your lonely again. Lonely again. (Oh.)
