Chris Carmichael is a musician and arranger born in San Antonio, Texas on July 6, 1962. The son of an Air Force fighter pilot, Chris moved extensively before taking up the violin while living in Hampton, Virginia. After moving to Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1975, he entered into more formal training - studying violin with Western Kentucky University professor Betty Pease (a former student of Ivan Galamian) for eight years. While in the university environment, Chris also studied music theory, composition, orchestral and chamber performance under teachers; Dr. David Livingston (a former student of composer Roy Harris), Vsevolod Lezhnev, (principal cellist with the Moscow Philharmonic and Pittsburgh Symphony orchestras) and Leon Gregorian (head of Michigan State University's conducting program).
After his formal training, he began a career as a touring musician for various artists in several genres including outlandish entertainers Joe Savage and Jason D. Williams (RCA).

Chris is a short form of various names including Christopher, Christian, Christina, Christine, and Christos. Unlike these names, however, it does not indicate the person's gender although it is much more common for males to have this name than it is for females.
It is the preferred form of the full name of such notable individuals as Chris Tucker and Chris Penn. To find an article about one of these people, see List of all pages beginning with "Chris".
The word is also part of phrases, including Tropical Storm Chris, Ruth's Chris Steak House, and many more which refer to notable people, places, and things. For a list of these, see All pages with titles containing chris.
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. A 2013 study found 3,000 active films festivals worldwide—active defined as having held an event in the previous 24 months.
As a 52-year-old lifelong cyclist and coach, Chris Carmichael gets a lot of questions about what he does for core strength work. Chris's view is that greater core strength or stability doesn't directly make you faster or more powerful on the bike, but that it is an important component of living an athlete's lifestyle and it helps prevent discomfort and injuries that could otherwise take you out of the game. Here are the top 10 exercises Chris uses and recommends for cyclists - especially 40+ year old cyclists. Complete all 10 exercises 2-3 times per training session, and incorporate this core strength workout into your training 2-3 times a week when you're not riding as much (i.e. winter), 1-2 times per week when your on-bike training load is higher. CTS founder and head coach Chris Carmichael describing one of the key hill sprint workouts he uses to build power and fitness. Perfect for time-crunched cyclists, this workout utilizes short, maximal efforts to stimulate the VO2 max energy system, generate a lot of lactate, and force the body to adapt to high-intensity efforts.
Cycling expert Chris Carmichael takes a closer look at OverUnder Intervals, a workout that helps cyclists increase their ability to handle variance during a climb.
