Günter Meisner (18 April 1926 – 5 December 1994) was a German TV and film character actor. He is remembered for his several cinematic portrayals of Adolf Hitler and for his role as Mr. Slugworth in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. He was fluent in four languages and appeared in many English-language, German-language and French-language films.
Born in Bremen, Meisner briefly worked at a steel foundry before training as a radio operator with the Luftwaffe's Fallschirmjäger (paratroopers). After the war, though he was interested in a career in sculpture and painting, in 1948 he switched to drama and studied under Gustaf Gründgens at Düsseldorf's State Conservatory, where he also got his first job at the local Schauspielhaus.
Meisner often played stock character Nazi officers and other sinister characters. He portrayed Hitler in the 1982 Franco-German action comedy, L'as des as (Ace of Aces), and in the ABC television miniseries, The Winds of War. He also appeared in the CBS miniseries, Blood and Honor and the ITV's, Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years.
María Luisa Paredes Bartolomé, (born 3 April 1946 in Madrid), better known in show business as Marisa Paredes, is a Spanish actress.
Paredes began acting in 1960 film, 091 Policia al Habla (091, Police Speaking!) She became a teen idol across Spain after that movie. In 1975, she and Raphael collaborated in a cartoon film about Raphael, titled Rafael en Rapahel. Paredes has participated in 73 films and television series.
Paredes has appeared only occasionally on Spanish television, usually as herself on some culebron chapter (culebron is a Spanish slang word for telenovela, or soap opera).
She portrayed the leading role of La Peregrina in a television production of Alejandro Casona's Dame del alba.
She has appeared in several acclaimed films, including Tras el cristal (1986) by Agustí Villaronga, Dark Habits (1983), High Heels (1991), The Flower of My Secret (1995), All About My Mother (1999) and The Skin I Live In (2011) (all by Pedro Almodóvar), Roberto Benigni's Life Is Beautiful (1998) and Guillermo del Toro's Devil's Backbone (2001).
Agustí Villaronga Riutort (Catalan pronunciation: [əɣusˈti viʎəˈɾoŋɡə]; born 4 April 1953) is a Balearic Spanish film director, screenwriter and actor. He has directed seven feature films, a documentary, three projects for television and three shorts. His film El niño de la luna was entered into the 1989 Cannes Film Festival.
In 2011 he won the Goya Award for Best Director for Pa negre (Black Bread). The film was selected as the Spanish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist.
Agustí Villaronga was born on 4 April 1953 in Palma de Mallorca, his grandparents had been itinerant puppeteers and his father was a child of the Spanish civil war, a fact that would resurface repeatedly in the director's filmography. Since childhood, his father encouraged his love for films and from early in his life he wanted to become a film director. He worked as an actor and made some shorts.
Villaronga made his directorial debut in 1986 with the film Tras el cristal, which was selected by the Berlin film festival receiving critical praise and many awards. The plot follows a former Nazi doctor, now paralyzed and depending on an iron lung to live, who begins to be taken care of by a young man, who was one of the children he abused during the war. Tras el cristal already shows some of the key elements in Villaronga's filmography: a disturbed childhood marked by violence an early discovery of sexuality.
In a Glass Cage (Spanish: Tras el cristal) is a 1986 Spanish film written and directed by Agustí Villaronga and starring Günter Meisner, Marisa Paredes and David Sust. The plot follows an ex-Nazi sadistic child abuser who is now paralyzed and depending on an iron lung to live. A young man who comes to nurse him was one his former victims years before. The film was inspired by the history of Gilles de Rais. With its theme mixing Nazism, pedophilia, torture and homosexuality, the film was highly controversial. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Teddy Awards, the film has been selected to be shown at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2016.
Klaus, a former Nazi German doctor who practiced horrific experiments with children during World War II, has continued with his sick attraction for torturing and killing young boys during his exile in a remote village in Catalonia. His latest victim is a child he has tortured and later kills with a blow to the head, taking photographs of the crime. This sadistic act has been witnessed by Angelo, another of Klaus' victims, who has spied him from a window, later stealing the tortured incriminating writings and photographs of the doctor's crimes. Klaus tries to commit suicide jumping from a tower, but he survives. As a result of his failed attempt he is now unable to breathe on his own and is immobile, confined permanently in an iron lung to survive.
From "Inside Out" (1975). In this short clip, Sly Wells (Robert Culp) praises Schmidt (Guenter Meisner) for a job well done impersonating Hitler to get Holtz (Wolfgang Lukschy) to remember where the gold is buried. I've always said Culp looked good in black, but in the black SS uniform he looks....too good.
