This is ACC education delivered like you have never seen before, planned by regional experts and facilitated by prominent international faculty.

STATEMENT OF NEED
Advances in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease (CVD) have yielded remarkably positive results, with a steady decline in CVD mortality across the globe. However, despite this remarkable progress, CVD remains the leading cause of death throughout the world and its prevalence remains high, making it a global public health priority and an intensive focus of research. Such research has led to new evidence that continues to accrue about the underlying pathophysiology as well as strategies to enhance CVD prevention, evaluation and treatment. As care of the patient with CVD becomes more complex, it is imperative that cardiovascular professionals have an opportunity for a comprehensive review of evidence-based practices and exposure to state-of-the-art updates, innovative techniques and translational research on the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease.

CONFERENCE OVERALL GOAL
By increasing their expert knowledge, participants should be able to identify guideline-driven, contemporary approaches to cardiovascular patient care.

For a preview of ACC's International Conferences in 2017, view the video below:

The Power of Data: A Path to Evidence-based Excellence in Patient-care, Teaching and Research

Overview
ACC is pleased to announce the Power of Data Path (PDP) during the ACC Latin America Conference 2017. Driven by a commitment to cultivate and guide the future trailblazers of cardiovascular care, the ACC has created a unique learning experience that will challenge your understanding while awakening your commitment to the science of cardiovascular medicine. Whether you strive to improve your patient care, teaching or research abilities, understanding the language of data, including sound statistical interpretation skills, is essential.

The Power of Data Path (PDP) begins on Thursday evening with a complimentary two-hour workshop that will dust-off your statistical interpretation skills, guide you through translating evidence into practical care strategies and offer tips for writing your research abstract. Then, starting on Friday morning, a series of conference sessions, such as the Syncope and Hypertension Guideline sessions, have been selected to create a “path” for you to practice your research analysis skills. Your journey through this path will be facilitated by a companion workbook that will prompt you to consider a series of analysis and appraisal questions. Additionally, PDP faculty guides will be partnered with you as you review the presented science in the posters. These faculty guides will also be available for lunch and evening debrief sessions.

Regardless of whether you are a Fellow in Training, an Early Stage Investigator or a general cardiologist, the ACC Latin America Conference 2017 and the PDP will inspire your pursuit of excellence in care, teaching or research. Trailblazers bring a hunger for exploration and are searching for the truth in every aspect of their career, whether it is patient-care, education and/or research. We look forward to having you join us on this trailblazing journey…

Target Audience
Fellow-in-training, early-stage investigators, educators and general cardiologists.

Overall Goal
By the end of this workshop and companion conference path, participants should be able to critically analyze and interpret presented cardiovascular science.

Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate statistical analysis and reporting techniques commonly used in cardiovascular research
  • Translate presented science into practical care strategies
  • Recognize essential components of an abstract submission
  • Identify the characteristics of a trailblazer in cardiology
