Faran Ensemble is a three player group, who joined each other in a
spiritual quest, expressed in music and sounds. It has been years now that
these players have deeply engaged themselves in studying the musical
instruments and the theory of music with the best teachers in the country
and abroad.
The instruments played originate from esoteric and ancient traditions of
the East.
KAMANTCHE is an ancient musical instrument whose origins are
rooted in Azerbaijan.
OUD, one of the most ancient string instruments, is found anywhere it is
customary to have very strong and dark tea in a small cup.
The Percussion which have been in use since the first human heartbeat.
The ensemble members grew up and come from different places,
backgrounds and sceneries. From the very dry desert to the luscious green
through the hectic noisy city sounds. The composed works reflect all of
these as they were composed together by the four ensemble members.
Both the composition-works and the musicians are deeply influenced by
the Eastern musical system called 'Maqam' .
Maqam in translation means all at once a physical place in the musical scale,
the fingers' placing on the strings and the melody which expresses this.
But more than that, 'Maqam' refers to a meditative place. A state that the
player must be attended so the music will be played as it should be.
In ancient cultures each Maqam has its own particular hour in the day,
season and a specific ceremonial connection.
Faran, is a dry desert wadi, which fills with water and life only in rainy
winters; and in the hot season, otherwise silent. It crosses Israel on its
way from Sinai, ignoring all borders.
Music for us is a journey.

Coming from the land of the Kalevala, an ancient land of forests, lakes, small villages and epic songs, the Karelian Folk Music Ensemble is a trio from Petrozavodsk, in the Russian Republic of Karelia. Karelia is a region that encompasses both sides of the Finnish/Russian border and the ensemble's music is an exciting and interesting mix of Finnish, Russian and Karelian cultures. Their music ranges from the ancient epic songs accompanied by Finnish harps to a capella Russian village songs, from old shepherd melodies on wooden flutes and trumpet to Finnish dances on accordions, and from scythe accompaniment to church bells. Instruments played by the trio include 5,10, and 32-string kanteles (finnish-karelian harp ), jouhikko (karelian bowed lyre), wooden wind instruments ( diatonic flutes, overtone flutes, goat's horn, birch barked trumpet, and Estonian bag-pipes), Russian and German button accordions, mandolin, bass, scythe and horse bells, plus three strong voices accompanied by instruments or sung acapella.

Musical ensemble
A musical ensemble, also known as a music group, is a group of people who perform instrumental or vocal music, typically known by a distinct name. In classical music, trios or quartets either blend the sounds of musical instrument families (such as piano, strings, and wind instruments) or group together instruments from the same instrument family, such as string ensembles or wind ensembles. In jazz ensembles, the instruments typically include wind instruments (one or more saxophones, trumpets, etc.), one or two chordal "comping" instruments (electric guitar, piano, or organ), a bass instrument (bass guitar or double bass), and a drummer or percussionist. In rock ensembles, usually called rock bands, there are usually guitars and keyboards (piano, electric piano, Hammond organ, synthesizer, etc.) and a rhythm section made up of a bass guitar and drum kit.
Classical chamber music
In Western classical music, smaller ensembles are called chamber music ensembles. The terms duet, trio, quartet, quintet, sextet, septet, octet, nonet and dectet describe groups of two up to ten musicians, respectively. A group of eleven musicians, such as found in The Carnival of the Animals, is called either a hendectet or an undectet (see Latin numerical prefixes). A solo is not an ensemble because it only contains one musician.

Udo Lindenberg
Udo Lindenberg (born 17 May 1946 in Gronau) is a German drummer, rock musician and composer.
Career
Lindenberg started his musical career as a drummer. In 1969 Lindenberg founded his first band Free Orbit and also appeared as a studio and guest musician (with Michael Naura, Knut Kiesewetter). In 1970 he collaborated as a drummer with jazz-saxophonist Klaus Doldinger in Munich. In 1971, a band founded by Doldinger, Passport put out its first album, with Lindenberg on drums. He also played drums for the theme music for the German TV series Tatort. The first LP of the Jazz rock group Emergency was released in 1971 but met with little commercial success.
The LP Lindenberg (also 1971, and sung in English, already with Steffi Stephan on bass) was likewise unsuccessful. In the following year, the first LP in German was released: Daumen im Wind (produced by Lindenberg and Thomas Kukuck, who also produced the next five albums together), from which the single "Hoch im Norden" became a radio hit in northern Germany. The year 1973 brought a breakthrough with the album Andrea Doria and its catchy "Alles klar auf der Andrea Doria" and "Cello". Over 100,000 copies sold, and Lindenberg quickly received the largest record deal of any German-language musician up to that time. Lindenberg was earning a special place in the new German-language music of the 70s: Between internationally oriented Krautrock and pop music, he found his niche. German-language rock had previously been confined to predominantly political message bands whose music was directed at a narrow audience.

Karelia is a region that encompasses both sides of the Finnish/Russian border and the ensemble's music is an exciting and interesting mix of Finnish, Russian and Karelian cultures. Their music ranges from the ancient epic songs accompanied by Finnish harps to a capella Russian village songs, from old shepherd melodies on wooden flutes and trumpet to Finnish dances on accordions, and from scythe accompaniment to church bells. Instruments played by the trio include 5,10, and 32-string kanteles (finnish-karelian harp ), jouhikko (karelian bowed lyre), wooden wind instruments ( diatonic flutes, overtone flutes, goat's horn, birch barked trumpet, and Estonian bag-pipes), Russian and German button accordions, mandolin, bass, scythe and horse bells, plus three strong voices accompanied by instruments or sung acapella. -

Faran Ensemble is a three player group, who joined each other in a

instruments and the theory of music with the best teachers in the country

The instruments played originate from esoteric and ancient traditions of
the East.
KAMANTCHE is an ancient musical instrument whose origins are
rooted in Azerbaijan.
OUD, one of the most ancient string instruments, is found anywhere it is
customary to have very strong and dark tea in a small cup.
The Percussion which have been in use since the first human heartbeat.
The ensemble members grew up and come from different places,
backgrounds and sceneries. From the very dry desert to the luscious green
through the hectic noisy city sounds. The composed works reflect all of
these as they were composed together by the four ensemble members.
Both the composition-works and the musicians are deeply influenced by
the Eastern musical system called 'Maqam' .
Maqam in translation means all at once a physical place in the musical scale,
the fingers' placing on the strings and the melody which expresses this.
But more than that, 'Maqam' refers to a meditative place. A state that the
player must be attended so the music will be played as it should be.
In ancient cultures each Maqam has its own particular hour in the day,
season and a specific ceremonial connection.
Faran, is a dry desert wadi, which fills with water and life only in rainy
winters; and in the hot season, otherwise silent. It crosses Israel on its
way from Sinai, ignoring all borders.
Music for us is a journey.

OUD, one of the most ancient string instruments, is found anywhere it is
customary to have very strong and dark tea in a small cup.
The Percussion which have been in use since the first human heartbeat.
The ensemble members grew up and come from different places,
backgrounds and sceneries. From the very dry desert to the luscious green
through the hectic noisy city sounds. The composed works reflect all of
these as they were composed together by the four ensemble members.
Both the composition-works and the musicians are deeply influenced by
the Eastern musical system called 'Maqam' .
Maqam in translation means all at once a physical place in the musical scale,
the fingers' placing on the strings and the melody which expresses this.
But more than that, 'Maqam' refers to a meditative place. A state that the
player must be attended so the music will be played as it should be.
In ancient cultures each Maqam has its own particular hour in the day,
season and a specific ceremonial connection.
Faran, is a dry desert wadi, which fills with water and life only in rainy
winters; and in the hot season, otherwise silent. It crosses Israel on its
way from Sinai, ignoring all borders.
Music for us is a journey.

Coming from the land of the Kalevala, an ancient land of forests, lakes, small villages and epic songs, the Karelian Folk Music Ensemble is a trio from Petrozavodsk, in the Russian Republic of Karelia. Karelia is a region that encompasses both sides of the Finnish/Russian border and the ensemble's music is an exciting and interesting mix of Finnish, Russian and Karelian cultures. Their music ranges from the ancient epic songs accompanied by Finnish harps to a capella Russian village songs, from old shepherd melodies on wooden flutes and trumpet to Finnish dances on accordions, and from scythe accompaniment to church bells. Instruments played by the trio include 5,10, and 32-string kanteles (finnish-karelian harp ), jouhikko (karelian bowed lyre), wooden wind instruments ( diatonic flutes, overtone flutes, goat's horn, birch barked trumpet, and Estonian bag-pipes), Russian and German button accordions, mandolin, bass, scythe and horse bells, plus three strong voices accompanied by instruments or sung acapella.

The Mayfair High School Percussion Ensemble performs the music from Disney's animated film, "Frozen" at the 2014 annual solo and ensemble festival on May 14th. Karelia is a region that encompasses both sides of the Finnish/Russian border and the ensemble's music is an exciting and interesting mix of Finnish, Russian and Karelian cultures. Faran Ensemble is a three player group, who joined each other in a
spiritual quest, expressed in music and sounds. It has been years now that
these players have deeply engaged themselves in studying the musical
instruments and the theory of music with the best teachers in the country
and abroad.
The instruments played originate from esoteric and ancient traditions of
the East.
KAMANTCHE is an ancient musical instrument whose origins are
rooted in Azerbaijan.
OUD, one of the most ancient string instruments, is found anywhere it is
customary to have very strong and dark tea in a small cup.
The Percussion which have been in use since the first human heartbeat.
The ensemble members grew up and come from different places,
backgrounds and sceneries. From the very dry desert to the luscious green
through the hectic noisy city sounds. The composed works reflect all of
these as they were composed together by the four ensemble members.
Both the composition-works and the musicians are deeply influenced by
the Eastern musical system called 'Maqam' .
Maqam in translation means all at once a physical place in the musical scale,
the fingers' placing on the strings and the melody which expresses this.
But more than that, 'Maqam' refers to a meditative place. A state that the
player must be attended so the music will be played as it should be.
In ancient cultures each Maqam has its own particular hour in the day,
season and a specific ceremonial connection.
Faran, is a dry desert wadi, which fills with water and life only in rainy
winters; and in the hot season, otherwise silent. It crosses Israel on its
way from Sinai, ignoring all borders.
Music for us is a journey.

Coming from the land of the Kalevala, an ancient land of forests, lakes, small villages and epic songs, the Karelian Folk Music Ensemble is a trio from Petrozavodsk, in the Russian Republic of Karelia. Karelia is a region that encompasses both sides of the Finnish/Russian border and the ensemble's music is an exciting and interesting mix of Finnish, Russian and Karelian cultures. Their music ranges from the ancient epic songs accompanied by Finnish harps to a capella Russian village songs, from old shepherd melodies on wooden flutes and trumpet to Finnish dances on accordions, and from scythe accompaniment to church bells. Instruments played by the trio include 5,10, and 32-string kanteles (finnish-karelian harp ), jouhikko (karelian bowed lyre), wooden wind instruments ( diatonic flutes, overtone flutes, goat's horn, birch barked trumpet, and Estonian bag-pipes), Russian and German button accordions, mandolin, bass, scythe and horse bells, plus three strong voices accompanied by instruments or sung acapella.
