Blurred Lines

"Blurred Lines" is a single written and performed by American recording artists Robin Thicke, T.I., and Pharrell Williams. Produced by Pharrell, it serves as the lead single from Thicke's album of the same name. It was released on March 26, 2013 through Pharrell's label Star Trak Recordings. Recorded in 2012, the song was primarily inspired by the Marvin Gaye song "Got to Give It Up", and was largely the work of Williams. However, Thicke clearly laid claim to writing credits on the track according to a Reuters article. The song became the subject of a bitter legal dispute with the family of Gaye and Bridgeport Music as to whether the song infringed copyrights to "Got to Give It Up". Thicke and Williams were found liable for copyright infringement by a federal jury in March 2015.

The song's music video was released in two versions, with one featuring models Emily Ratajkowski, Jessi M'Bengue, and Elle Evans being topless, while the other censored nudity. The uncut version of the video was at one time removed from YouTube for violating the site's terms of service regarding nudity; it was later restored, but with an age restriction. The song's lyrics and music video have proven controversial with some groups, with claims that it is misogynistic and promotes date rape. This has led to the song being banned at universities and other institutions in the United Kingdom and prompted a rebuttal from Thicke.

Robin Thicke

Robin Charles Thicke (/ˈθɪk/; born March 10, 1977) is an American singer, songwriter and music producer. Thicke has worked with several prominent artists, such as Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj, K.Michelle, Pharrell Williams, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Flo Rida, Kid Cudi and Mary J. Blige, among others. Thicke has also been acknowledged for his work on popular albums such as Usher's Confessions and Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III while garnering his own R&B hits in the US including "Lost Without U", "Magic", and "Sex Therapy". He rose to worldwide fame in 2013 with his hit single "Blurred Lines". He is the son of actor Alan Thicke and actress Gloria Loring and known for his former marriage to actress Paula Patton. In 2013 and 2014, their separation and divorce was covered extensively by the tabloid press including Thicke's efforts to reconcile with Patton.

Early life

Thicke was born on March 10, 1977, in Los Angeles, California. His mother is American actress-singer Gloria Loring, who appeared on U.S. daytime drama Days of Our Lives, and his father is Canadian actor Alan Thicke, who is known for his role on the TV sitcom Growing Pains. They were divorced when he was seven. Thicke has an older brother, Brennan, who worked as a voice actor in the mid-1980s, and a younger half-brother, Carter.

The Lines

The Lines were a four-piece indie rock band from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England who were signed to Amboy Road Records, although previously had released their debut single on Weekender Records in February 2008.

The Lines formed in 2006 with lifetime school friends Dean Bate and Alex Ohm. The Lines released their debut single 'Domino Effect' on Weekender Records on February 25, 2008, and achieved number ten in the UK Charts. Edwards & Titley left the group in late 2008.

The Lines achieved various support slots between 2006-2008 which have included The Killers, Editors, The Maccabees, The Twang, The Charlatans, Babyshambles, Jack Peñate, Supergrass, Ian Brown and Good Shoes. They also headlined at Birmingham ArtsFest and the Bang Music Festival at Donington Park, in front of 80,000 people.

On February 11, 2008, the band performed an acoustic version of their debut single during the half-time at the Wolverhampton Wanderers versus Stoke City Championship football match to more than 28,000 people. During early 2008, the Lines toured the UK in support of Little Man Tate (band), at concerts throughout & after the tour Little Man Tate (band) have claimed The Lines blew them off the stage every night, and were said to be the best band in the UK. The Lines staged concerts of their own, including sell-out shows at local Wolverhampton venues Little Civic, Civic Bar and, on February 23, 2008, the 1,200 capacity Wulfrun Hall.

The Avener

Tristan Casara (born 23 January 1987), known by his stage name The Avener (/ˈævənər/), is a French deep house and electro music producer. He is best known for his 2014 single "Fade Out Lines", a deep house rework of "The Fade Out Line", a song by Phoebe Killdeer & The Short Straws.

Career

2014–15: The Wanderings of the Avener

In September 2014 The Avener released his debut single "Fade Out Lines", a deep house rework of "The Fade Out Line", a song by Phoebe Killdeer & The Short Straws. The song peaked to number 3 in France. The song reached number 1 in Austria, Germany and Spain, the song was also a Top 10 hit in Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Italy and Switzerland. He released his debut studio album The Wanderings of the Avener in January 2015, peaking to number 2 in France. The album also includes the singles "Hate Street Dialogue", "To Let Myself Go" and "Panama".

In August 2015, it was revealed that The Avener is providing production for Mylène Farmer's forthcoming tenth studio album, including the lead single Stolen Car in duet with Sting.
