Zodiac is a 2007 American mystery-thriller film directed by David Fincher. The screenplay by James Vanderbilt is based on the 1986 non-fiction book of the same name by Robert Graysmith. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey, Jr., with Anthony Edwards, Brian Cox, Elias Koteas, Donal Logue, John Carroll Lynch, Dermot Mulroney and Chloë Sevigny in supporting roles.
Zodiac tells the story of the manhunt for a notorious serial killer who called himself the "Zodiac" and killed in and around the San Francisco Bay Area during the late 1960s and early 1970s, leaving several victims in his wake and taunting police with letters, blood stained clothing, and ciphers mailed to newspapers. The cases remain one of Northern California's most infamous unsolved crimes.
Fincher, Vanderbilt and producer Bradley J. Fischer spent 18 months conducting their own investigation and research into the Zodiac murders. Fincher employed the digital Thomson Viper Filmstream camera to photograph the film. However, Zodiac was not shot entirely digitally; traditional high-speed film cameras were used for slow-motion murder sequences.

From the depths of a dreamless night, he wakes up to find himself chained to a strange, large chair in a strange, grand hall. In front of him, upon a high desk, a man wearing a purple old-fashioned tuxedo is staring at him steadily. He presents himself as The Collector (of neglected talents) and notifies Alexander that he has now reached the deadline of his birth-contract and his artistic gifts are to be taken away and buried in the Grave of Unfulfilled Desires. He offers him the usual courtesy of twelve extra hours, in which he must either create a masterpiece, or surrender all his artistic powers to the Collector's recycling plantation. The young artist sets to work right away, but his efforts are futile. Luckily for him an unexpected guide will appear and help him find his way through the maze of his imagination.

The hunt is on for a serial killer in San Francisco. Few cases in the history of true crime are as intriguing as that of Zodiac, a bizarre gunman in an executioner's hood, who taunts the police with dozens of letters containing eerie messages and cryptograms. Director David Fincher (Panic Room, Fight Club, Se7en) captures the story of the infamous killer who terrorized the city in the late 1960s. Jake Gyllenhaal (Jarhead, The Day After Tomorrow), Robert Downey, Jr. (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang), Anthony Edwards ("ER") and Mark Ruffalo (We Don't Live Here Anymore, Rumor Has It...) star.

The extreme close-up may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of David Fincher's unique visual aesthetic. That's because Fincher's extreme close-ups don't call attention to themselves. The filmmaker stitches the shots into his pictures in a way that is subtle and fluid, yet impactful and abrasive. They often go unnoticed, sitting just under the surface and scratching at our eyes. In my previous two "Extreme Close-Up" videos, I looked at Quentin Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson, two masters of the ECU. If Tarantino and PTA use the ECU as explanation points, Fincher's are used as hyphens, semicolons, and parentheses. Here is a look at some of Fincher's best usages of the extreme close-up. In David Fincher's 2007 masterpiece Zodiac, the audience was able to glimpse into a riveting true crime story. In order to keep the audience on their seat, Fincher avoided revealing the identity of the killer through vagueness. But with the allegations that Ted Cruz may actually be the Zodiac killer rising, it's time to unearth the alternate scene that was rejected for giving too much away. [Intro]
What's your zodiac sign
Shorty what your sign is [x3]
What's your zodiac sign
[Verse 1]
Lately you've been leaning my way
There's something that I wanna say
But part of me don't really wanna ask
We've been getting along so fine
The questions storm into my mind
I may not like the answer you give back
Forever way you like me
Or some form of back breaker
Cause you're caught up in what might be
Or what we know how to make up
Last time our signals weren't on deck
Shoulder signs no respect
Spent the whole summer being put in check
[Chorus]
What's your sign, your sign
I wanna know if we connect
Are you Aries, Virgo, Taurus, Gemini
Boy holla back
Hey what's your sign, your sign
Only Leo, Libra, Capricorn
I think I met my match
I gotta know your zodiac
What's your sign, your sign
Scorpio, Aquarius, Saggitarius, Pisces, Cancer
Please say the rest
Hey what's your sign, your sign
What's your sign, your sign
Hey what's your sign, your sign
What's your sign, your sign
[Chorus 2]
Shorty what your sign is [x6]
[Verse 2]
I'm going through another day
And every piece of you has sprung on me
Wanna take it to a point of no return
I'm thinking on the one to twelve chance
But there's only eight percent
As I await your confirmation I feel it burning
I think I seen the first stone in a ring that you wore
Now I'm thinking back to previous relationships before
I trult adore you and I really want more of you
They say opposites attract
But I don't know know know know know know know
[Chorus]
What's your sign, your sign
I wanna know if we connect
Are you Aries, Virgo, Taurus, Gemini
Boy holla back
Hey what's your sign, your sign
Only Leo, Libra, Capricorn
I think I met my match
I gotta know your zodiac
What's your sign, your sign
Scorpio, Aquarius, Saggitarius, Pisces, Cancer
Please say the rest
Hey what's your sign, your sign
What's your sign, your sign
Hey what's your sign, your sign
What's your sign, your sign
[Chorus 2]
Shorty what your sign is [x12]
[Bridge]
If you an Aries
They sweet like you are boy
If you a Taurus
Boy stop being so mean
Or if you Gemini
I try my best to work it out
Keep communicating with me and I won't let you down
And if you Cancer
I appreciate your sympathy and loving me
Or Leo
Warmhearted and generous you are
Virgo
Shy and modest, meticulous I love it
Oh Libra
Romantic, diplomatic, I'm so ecstatic
Scorpio
Stay determined for us, passion and love
Can't forget about saggitarius
Thank you for being optimistic
Hey capricorn
For the patience you show me
Ooh Aquarius
Keep it loyal, like my closest homie
Pisces
Sensitive, imagination unwordly
Am I the one for you [x4]
[Chorus 2]
