Aviation is the practical aspect or art of aeronautics, being the design, development, production, operation and use of aircraft, especially heavier than air aircraft. The word "aviation" was coined by French writer and former naval officer Gabriel La Landelle in 1873, from the verb "avier" (synonymous flying), itself derived from the Latin word "avis" ("bird") and the suffix "-ation".
There are early legends of human flight such as the story of Icarus in Greek myth and Jamshid in Persian myth, and later, somewhat more credible claims of short-distance human flights appear, such as the flying automaton of Archytas of Tarentum (428–347 BC), the winged flights of Abbas Ibn Firnas (810–887), Eilmer of Malmesbury (11th century), and the hot-air Passarola of Bartholomeu Lourenço de Gusmão (1685–1724).
The modern age of aviation began with the first untethered human lighter-than-air flight on November 21, 1783 of a hot air balloon designed by the Montgolfier brothers. The practicality of balloons was limited because they could only travel downwind. It was immediately recognized that a steerable, or dirigible, balloon was required. Jean-Pierre Blanchard flew the first human-powered dirigible in 1784 and crossed the English Channel in one in 1785.
Shadow Puppets is a science fiction novel by American author Orson Scott Card, published in 2002. It is the sequel to Shadow of the Hegemon and the third book in the Ender's Shadow series (often called the Bean Quartet). It was originally to be called Shadow of Death.
Peter, Ender's brother, is now Hegemon of Earth. Accepting a tip from inside China, where Achilles is held prisoner, Peter had planned for Bean to operate the mission, but at the last minute (because he doubted Bean would cooperate) assigns Suriyawong, a Battle School student from Thailand, to rescue Achilles in transport, believing that he can spy on Achilles, take over his network, and then turn Achilles over to some country for trial (at the time of this story, Achilles has betrayed Russia, Pakistan, and India).
Achilles is known to kill anyone who has seen him vulnerable. Bean and his friend Petra, who also served under Ender and who is travelling with Bean, have both seen Achilles so and immediately go into hiding, preparing for a future confrontation. Bean believes Peter has seriously underestimated Achilles, and that he (Bean) is not safe unless he is hidden. During their travels, Petra convinces Bean to marry her and have children with her by taking him to Anton, the person who Anton's Key (Bean's Condition) was named after. Bean is reluctant to have children, as he does not want his Anton's Key gene to be passed on. He finds Volescu, the original doctor who activated the key in his genes, and has him prepare nine embryos through artificial insemination. Volescu pretends to identify three embryos with Anton's Key and they are discarded. One of the remaining six is implanted into Petra, while the rest of them are placed under guard.
The Last Shadow Puppets are an English-American rock supergroup consisting of Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), Miles Kane (The Rascals, solo artist), producer James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco, Simian), and Zach Dawes (Mini Mansions).
In August 2007 NME magazine reported that Arctic Monkeys lead singer Alex Turner and lead singer of then newly formed the Rascals, Miles Kane would be recording an album with Simian Mobile Disco member and former Simian drummer James Ford producing and playing drums. Turner and Kane had become friends when Kane's previous band the Little Flames played support for Arctic Monkeys on their 2005 UK tour. The Little Flames also supported Arctic Monkeys on their April 2007 UK tour, when Turner and Kane wrote songs together for a collaborative project. Their collaboration extended into Arctic Monkeys material, with Kane playing guitar on "505", the closing track of second Arctic Monkeys album Favourite Worst Nightmare and on "Fluorescent Adolescent" B-sides "The Bakery" and "Plastic Tramp." Kane also guested on "505" and "Plastic Tramp" at several Arctic Monkeys gigs in 2007, including the summer mini-festivals at Lancashire County Cricket Club and Arctic Monkeys' 2007 & 2013 appearances at Glastonbury.

Lyrics to You Were My Everything by Aviation. Video by: Curlygurlie2014
On a bleak December day in 1903, among the dunes at Kitty Hawk in North Carolina, a fragile bi-plane took off in a strong buffeting wind and flew for just 12 seconds, skimming 120 feet across the sands. At the controls a man called Orvill Wright. Man's first controlled powered flight. Only sixty years later the world's first supersonic jetliner thundered into the air at Toulouse in France. This programme tells the extraordinary story of flying history from Kitty Hawk to Concorde, from brave pioneers staggering into the air in their string bag machines, to the age of global mass air travel. It's a hell of a story.

Plane Crashes - Aviation Accidents and Incidents History Documentary An aviation accident is defined by the Convention on International Civil Aviation Annex 13 as an occurrence associated with the operation of an aircraft, which takes place between the time any person boards the aircraft with the intention of flight until all such persons have disembarked, where a person is fatally or seriously injured, the aircraft sustains damage or structural failure or the aircraft is missing or is completely inaccessible. If the accident includes damage to the aircraft such that it must be written off, or in which the plane is destroyed, it is further defined as a hull loss accident. The first fatal aviation accident was the crash of a Rozière balloon near Wimereux, France, on June 15, 1785, killin...

Aviation Industry - Commercial Jets Documentary An airliner is an airplane, usually large, used for transporting passengers and air cargo. Such aircraft are most often operated by airlines. Although the definition of an airliner can vary from country to country, an airliner is typically defined as an aircraft intended for carrying multiple passengers or cargo in commercial service. The largest airliners are wide-body jets. These aircraft are frequently called twin-aisle aircraft because they generally have two separate aisles running from the front to the back of the passenger cabin. These aircraft are usually used for long-haul flights between airline hubs and major cities with many passengers. A smaller, more common class of airliners is the narrow-body or single aisle aircraft. These...

He was working for the airline one day
And out on the street the next
The company always came first with him
She came second best
His life was aviation
He was rising fast
They let him go
He became
A victim of the past
She lost her job the same month
At "Fashions For You"
She lost her chance of ever seeing Paris
Lost the baby too
They took all their belongings
And managed to get a loan
And put it all into this broken down building
That called itself a restaurant
He waits tables
She does the cooking
He can remember
Seeing her look so beautiful
And now she is just fading away
She waits tables
He does the cooking
They don't owe nobody nothing
If there's a God up there in heaven
Must have lost his touch
Maybe he's out to lunch
His life was aviation
He was rising fast
But who needs expert in fuel conservation
When the planes are out of gas
He still reads "Aviation"
When he has the time
And if he gets to talk to God he's gonna
Give him a piece of his mind, yeah
He waits tables
She does the cooking
He can remember
Seeing her look so beautiful
Now she's just fading away
She waits tables
He does the cooking
They don't owe nobody nothing
If there's a God up there in heaven
He must have lost his touch
Maybe he's out for lunch
He waits tables
She does the cooking
He can remember
Seeing her look so beautiful
Now she is just fading away
She waits tables
He does the cooking
They don't owe nobody nothing
If there's a God up there in heaven
Maybe he's not to blame
