Ronald Reagan
Ronald Wilson Reagan (/ˈrɒnəld ˈwɪlsən ˈreɪɡən/; February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004) was an American politician and actor, who served as the 40th President of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Prior to his presidency, he served as the 33rd Governor of California from 1967 to 1975, following a career as a Hollywood actor and union leader.
Raised in a poor family in small towns of Northern Illinois, Ronald Reagan graduated from Eureka College in 1932 and worked as a sports announcer on several regional radio stations. After moving to Hollywood in 1937, he became an actor and starred in a few major productions. Reagan was twice elected as President of the Screen Actors Guild, the labor union for actors, where he worked to root out Communist influence. In the 1950s, he moved into television and was a motivational speaker at General Electric factories. Having been a lifelong liberal Democrat, his views changed. He became a conservative and in 1962 switched to the Republican Party. In 1964, Reagan's speech, "A Time for Choosing," in support of Barry Goldwater's floundering presidential campaign, earned him national attention as a new conservative spokesman. Building a network of supporters, he was elected Governor of California in 1966. As governor, Reagan raised taxes, turned a state budget deficit to a surplus, challenged the protesters at the University of California, ordered National Guard troops in during a period of protest movements in 1969, and was re-elected in 1970. He twice ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nominations in 1968 and 1976; four years later, he easily won the nomination outright, going on to be elected the oldest President, defeating incumbent Jimmy Carter in 1980.

Crash Course
Crash Course (also known as Driving Academy) is a 1988 made for television teen film directed by Oz Scott.
Plot
Crash Course centers on a group of high schoolers in a driver’s education class; many for the second or third time. The recently divorced teacher, super-passive Larry Pearl, is on thin ice with the football fanatic principal, Principal Paulson, who is being pressured by the district superintendent to raise driver’s education completion rates or lose his coveted football program. With this in mind, Principal Paulson and his assistant, with a secret desire for his job, Abner Frasier, hire an outside driver’s education instructor with a very tough reputation, Edna Savage, aka E.W. Savage, who quickly takes control of the class.
The plot focuses mostly on the students and their interactions with their teachers and each other. In the beginning, Rico is the loner with just a few friends, Chadley is the bookish nerd with few friends who longs to be cool and also longs to be a part of Vanessa’s life who is the young, friendly and attractive girl who had to fake her mother’s signature on her driver’s education permission slip. Kichi is the hip-hop Asian kid who often raps what he has to say and constantly flirts with Maria, the rich foreign girl who thinks that the right-of-way on the roadways always goes to (insert awesomely fake foreign Latino accent) “my father’s limo”. Finally you have stereotypical football meathead J.J., who needs to pass his English exam to keep his eligibility and constantly asks out and gets rejected by Alice, the tomboy whose father owns “Santini & Son” Concrete Company. Alice is portrayed as being the “son” her father wanted.

This is the transcript of an interview with Michael Hudson, discussing a 1966 incident:
Q: Why are real wages falling?
MH: They’ve (wages) been going down because essentially the economy shifted radically throughout the world, starting in 1979, when Margaret Thatcher was elected Prime Minister of England and Ronald Reagan was elected President of here (The USA) claiming to defend capital. The Reagan Bush Administration in its 12 years, quadrupled American debt by slashing taxes on the upper brackets while sharply increasing taxes on labour.
They increased it largely by having Alan Greenspan create the Greenspan Commission to look at social security and pushing the myth that social security had to be funded out of pre savings, so American labour was essentially taxed 11% between itself and the employers to pay social security and this vast increase in social security taxes was used to lend to the Government(US) to provide it with enough money to slash taxes on the rich and that was Greenspan’s ploy.
He was rewarded by being made head of the Federal Reserve for his actual hatred of labour and his desire that you had to reduce living standards in order to increase the profits of capital.
And so Greenspan was sort of the hack that was hired.
When I was on Wall Street, Greenspan was hired as part of a study I was doing on the balance of payments of the Oil Industry. And one day my boss, John Deaver came into my office and said he really worried about Greenspan being a part of this report because he was known as a hack that always gave …his clients what they wanted instead of something actual.
So he (JD) gave me Greenspan’s figures on depreciation of oil producing refinery assets in Europe and asked me to find out where the faking is? He said he couldn’t believe that Greenspan by himself wouldn’t of just faked the figures and it took me about a week to figure out where the faking of the figures came out (from) and that was Greenspan had simply picked up depreciation rates relative to output for the United States and projected them onto Europe.
So I went over and talked to his assistant Lucille Woo and she said “it’s all implicit, all implicit” and I confronted her with it and she said “Yes that’s what we did”!
And so, Greenspan was indeed ‘talked off the study’ and we met… John Deaver, David Rockefeller and myself and I was told…Greenspan was such a little bastard that if they fired him, he’d hold a grudge against Chase Manhattan for years and they told me to be the guy to give him the news that we couldn’t use his (laughs) statistics on it and I was a 25 year old economist at the time and he hardly new me at all, so I was the guy that…subsequently became known as ‘the man who fired Alan Greenspan’.

Ford Presidential Library in Ann Arbor, Michigan to talk about his experiences and understanding in Reporting on Presidents and The White House. Thomma is the winner of the Gerald R. Ford Distinguished Journalism Prize for Reporting on the Presidency for the year 2010. Thomma is a White House Press Corps member who works for McClatchy Newspapers and remarks focused on "The White House Message Machine: How It Spins Faster Than Ever".
Steve Thomma recalls his personal interactions with President Barak Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton including during their time as presidential candidates (each ran for the office in 2007-2008). Steve touches on candid moments at Press Conferences and working with The White House Staff. Thomma currently travels and reports on the Republic Presidential Candidates and Campaigns.
Thomma illustrates his understanding of the complex "White House Message Machine". Beginning with Richard Nixon's pro-active press office to get the message out, has now come to the Obama Operation today utilizing 69 people with the latest in technologies to have as far a range as possible throughout the media. For example, Twitter is used by several of the White House Staffers, to provide updates and additional sources of information. Additionally, Obama's Press Office rolls out produced pictures and videos to show The President's message and favorable work by The President and his Administration, provided on The White House website, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook.
Some of the issues of the "Produced Message" of The White House is that there are rarely members of the Press Corps allowed to participate when the images or "news story" happens when only The White House Official still photographer and video camera are allowed to cover. Thomma describes his concern with The White House limiting access, because without the press, a full story can not be told, only what the Press Office wants, which focuses on the "approved, managed message".
Thomma also compares recent Presidents and their availability to the press. Through April 2011 and to this point in different Administrations, President Obama participated in questions from the media and public 130 times,, compared to President Bush's 301, President Bill Clinton 511, President H.W. Bush 258 and President Ronald Reagan 118. These include taking questions at formal White House Press Conference, from the White House Press Pool in places such as The Oval Office and short "gaggles" at various locations. The data was compiled by Martha Joynt Kumar, who researches and provides data on the media availability of the President.
President Obama though has participated in a large number of TV interviews compared to the other recent Presidents. The numbers are Obama 306, W. Bush 91, Clinton 139, H.W. Bush 87 and Reagan 115. President Obama is the first President to participate in a majority of interviews by TV, instead of print or other sources. The possible reasons for Obama's choice could be that its more controlled, more conversational, its one-on-one, can go on longer or can be more selective with which TV Network to select. Also, 20% of President Obama's newspaper interview went to one newspaper in his first year in office.
Thomma touches on the ability to be available and getting the message out as much as possible can move towards the issue of "over-exposure". When The White House pushes out to much, they run the risk of "reduced impact". Over communicating can over expose The President and their message to the point that it is not value added to their ability push their message out.

Beginning with Richard Nixon's pro-active press office to get the message out, has now come to the Obama Operation today utilizing 69 people with the latest in technologies to have as far a range as possible throughout the media. For example, Twitter is used by several of the White House Staffers, to provide updates and additional sources of information. Additionally, Obama's Press Office rolls out produced pictures and videos to show The President's message and favorable work by The President and his Administration, provided on The White House website, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook.
Some of the issues of the "Produced Message" of The White House is that there are rarely members of the Press Corps allowed to participate when the images or "news story" happens when only The White House Official still photographer and video camera are allowed to cover. Thomma describes his concern with The White House limiting access, because without the press, a full story can not be told, only what the Press Office wants, which focuses on the "approved, managed message".
Thomma also compares recent Presidents and their availability to the press. Through April 2011 and to this point in different Administrations, President Obama participated in questions from the media and public 130 times,, compared to President Bush's 301, President Bill Clinton 511, President H.W. Bush 258 and President Ronald Reagan 118. These include taking questions at formal White House Press Conference, from the White House Press Pool in places such as The Oval Office and short "gaggles" at various locations. The data was compiled by Martha Joynt Kumar, who researches and provides data on the media availability of the President.
President Obama though has participated in a large number of TV interviews compared to the other recent Presidents. The numbers are Obama 306, W. Bush 91, Clinton 139, H.W. Bush 87 and Reagan 115. President Obama is the first President to participate in a majority of interviews by TV, instead of print or other sources. The possible reasons for Obama's choice could be that its more controlled, more conversational, its one-on-one, can go on longer or can be more selective with which TV Network to select. Also, 20% of President Obama's newspaper interview went to one newspaper in his first year in office.
Thomma touches on the ability to be available and getting the message out as much as possible can move towards the issue of "over-exposure". When The White House pushes out to much, they run the risk of "reduced impact". Over communicating can over expose The President and their message to the point that it is not value added to their ability push their message out.

Medienberichten zufolge verlief die Wahl am Sonntag ruhig und unspektakulär. Offensichtlich sind die Wahlen gut vorbereitet worden. Doch wie sahen diese „guten Vorbereitungen“ hinter den Kulissen der offiziellen Medienberichte aus? In unserer Sendung vom 26.10.2014 berichteten wir über den offenen Brief der ukrainischen Parlamentsabgeordneten Jelena Bondarenko. Sie beschreibt darin, dass die herrschenden Politiker offen und konkret mit der physischen Vernichtung aller Volksvertreter drohen, die in Opposition zur gegenwärtigen Macht in der Ukraine stehen. Nach Aussage von Frau Bondarenko seien herrschende Politiker sogar an Verbrechen gegen oppositionelle Politiker und deren Kinder beteiligt. Die freie Meinungsäußerung innerhalb und außerhalb des Parlaments, sowie in den Fernsehkanälen werde verweigert. Wer zum Frieden in der Ukraine aufrufe, werde von der ukrainischen Regierung sogar als Feind des Volkes verunglimpft. Wen wundert es da, dass die Kommunistische Partei der Ukraine und die Partei der Regionalisierung keinen Einzug ins Parlament fanden. Letztlich wurden dem ukrainischen Volk nur solche Parteien präsentiert, die eine strikte pro-amerikanische und europäische und sogleich aggressive contra russische Linie fahren. Der Politologe und ehemalige Assistent in der Verwaltung von Ronald Reagan, Paul Craig Roberts, äußerte sich in seinem Interview mit dem russischen Fernsehsender RIA Novosti unverblümt. Roberts wörtlich: „Poroschenko und Jazenjuk sind Marionetten von Washington, und wir können feststellen, dass das ukrainische Volk die Kandidaten aus Washington gewählt hat". Dass Paul Craig Roberts mit seiner Einschätzung voll ins Schwarze trifft, zeigen wir mit unseren Sendungen vom 19.02. und 12.03.2014 auf. Die Morddrohungen von Julia Timoschenko vom 18.03.2014 gegenüber Russlands Präsident Putin und ihre Totalvernichtungsabsichtungen gegenüber dem russischen Volk dokumentierten wir in unserer Sendung vom 03.04.2014. 10/28/14: Fifty years ago in 1964, Lyndon Johnson declared a "War on Poverty." In 1988, Ronald Reagan responded in a famous speech that poverty had won the war. In this free and public McConnell Center talk, Kent Germany, PhD, explored new documents and once-secret White House recordings to see what LBJ intended the "War on Poverty" to be. According to Germany, the "War on Poverty" was hobbled from the start by Johnson’s overly ambitious rhetoric and evolved over the next half century into something that challenges easy labels of success or failure.
Germany is a joint professor in the University of South Carolina’s history and African American studies departments. He previous was on the faculty at the University of Virginia’s Miller Center of Public Affairs, where he led the LBJ project, co-founded the award-winning website www.whitehousetapes.org and served as a host of For the Record, a nationally distributed PBS interview program on politics and history.
Germany is the author of New Orleans After the Promises: Poverty, Citizenship and the Search for the Great Society, a finalist for the Organization of American Historian’s Liberty Legacy Award for best book on civil rights. He is the co-editor of four books on Johnson’s White House tapes, including The Presidential Recordings: Lyndon B. Johnson: Toward the Great Society, which was the winner of the 2011 PROSE Award for Best eProduct in the Humanities.
