The Pulitzer Prize /ˈpʊlᵻtsər/ is an award for achievements in newspaper and online journalism, literature, and musical composition in the United States. It was established in 1917 by provisions in the will of American (Hungarian-born) publisher Joseph Pulitzer, and is administered by Columbia University in New York City. Prizes are awarded yearly in twenty-one categories. In twenty of the categories, each winner receives a certificate and a US$10,000 cash award. The winner in the public service category of the journalism competition is awarded a gold medal.
The Pulitzer Prize does not automatically consider all applicable works in the media, but only those that have specifically entered. (There is a $50 entry fee, paid for each desired entry category.) Entries must fit in at least one of the specific prize categories, and cannot simply gain entrance for being literary or musical. Works can also only be entered in a maximum of two categories, regardless of their properties.
Daily News or The Daily News is the name of several daily newspapers around the world, including:

Daily News investigative reporter Sarah Ryley took home the most prestigious award in journalism for her in-depth look at the NYPD’s use of so-called nuisance abatement laws to seize properties where they say crimes have been committed. Read the profile: http://to.pbs.org/fudCZe Photographer John Moore is no stranger to combat. As a member of an Associated Press team in 2005, he shared a Pulitzer Prize for breaking news photography for coverage of the war in Iraq and he's done extended stints in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, South Africa, Mexico and Nicaragua and elsewhere in the last 20 years. Yet despite his relative comfort with being on the frontlines, Moore told the NewsHour from his hotel room in Cairo that his latest assignment -a six-week trip that took him to the uprisings in Egypt, Bahrain and Libya - might have been his most dangerous. Moore recorded the interview for us after sneaking out of Benghazi, Libya en route back to his home in Denver.

This is a film based on the book "Death of the Liberal Class" by journalist and Pulitzer prize winner, Chris Hedges. It charts the rise of the Corporate State, and examines the future of obedience in a world of unfettered capitalism, globalisation, staggering inequality and environmental change. The film predominantly focuses on US corporate capitalism, but it is my hope that the viewer can recognise the relevance of what is being expressed with regards to domestic political and corporate activity. It was made entirely of clips found on the web. Music by Clark (warp.net/records/clark) Warning - this film contains scenes that some viewers may find disturbing.

Requests for scanned images from photo editors, gallery shows and the like always made Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Brian Lanker cringe. Even with the original chromes, slides and negatives, he was convinced the original image quality couldn’t be matched with an in-house scanner, and drum scans were too expensive at more than $100 each. But after discovering the 6400 dpi Epson Perfection V750-M Pro scanner, Brian has been able to produce drum-quality scans and capture the original brilliance of his images – at an affordable cost.
