Teflon is part magic, part science. But mostly science.
Did you know that Teflon was originally invented as a coating for the bottom of shoes? It's true! Henry Willis Wallace, and eccentric inventor and part-time chemist, dreamed of pioneering an alternative to indoor ice skating. He attempted to make a friction-free coating for shoes that would allow the wearer to glide across smooth surfaces without sticking. His idea failed miserably, but now we have these sweet cookware sets. So, things worked out ok.
