Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the ACLU of Washington.

The ACLU of Washington is a nonprofit organization devoted to defending and extending civil rights and civil liberties.  Its staff and volunteers work in a fast-paced, friendly, and professional office.  Current job openings and internships in our Seattle office are listed on our Careers page.

We currently do not have any regular, on-going volunteer opportunities available.

If you would like to sign up to receive information about being a volunteer lawyer, or to be contacted when we need support at events, please fill out our volunteer application. Due to the high volume of applications, it could be some time before you hear from us.

Please also consider donating your time to other organizations in your area that directly serve people who face discrimination and unequal treatment. In addition to applying for specific positions and projects, here are the most effective ways to lend a hand:

  • Become a card-carrying member and spread the word about membership to friends and family
  • Take Action! Sign up for our E-mail Activist Network to receive timely alerts on issues.
  • People Power is a great way to be involved right now. This is a grassroots initiative designed to encourage people to engage in direct advocacy on civil rights and civil liberties issues in their communities.
  • Participate in ACLU-WA events, including our Liberty Loves Company nights, where you’ll hear about our current work from ACLU insiders and meet other supporters.
