The rainy season, or monsoon season, is the time of year when most of a region's average annual rainfall occurs. It usually lasts one or more months. The term "green season" is also sometimes used as a euphemism by tourist authorities. Areas with wet seasons are dispersed across portions of the tropics and subtropics.
Under the Köppen climate classification, for tropical climates, a wet season month is defined as a month where average precipitation is 60 millimetres (2.4 in) or more. In contrast to areas with savanna climates and monsoon regimes, Mediterranean climates have wet winters and dry summers. Tropical rainforests do not have dry or wet seasons, since their rainfall is equally distributed throughout the year. Some areas with pronounced rainy seasons will see a break in rainfall mid-season, when the intertropical convergence zone or monsoon trough moves to higher latitudes in the middle of the warm season.
When the wet season occurs during a warm season, or summer, precipitation falls mainly during the late afternoon and early evening . In the wet season, air quality improves, fresh water quality improves, and vegetation grows substantially, leading to crop yields late in the season. Rivers overflow their banks, and some animals retreat to higher ground. Soil nutrients diminish and erosion increases. The incidence of malaria increases in areas where the rainy season coincides with high temperatures. Some animals have adaptation and survival strategies for the wet season. Often, the previous dry season leads to food shortages in the wet season, as the crops have yet to mature.
The rainy season is the time of year when most of a region's average annual rainfall occurs.

IHHP and the West Arnhem Regional Council joined together this wet season, to make a video clip with the youth of Gunbalanya. In their last week of Christmas holidays, with the help of Mixer, Dally, Tina, Danzel and Tim, the young artist wrote, sung and performed this song about the wet season in Arnhemland. With the amazing backdrop of the Injalak Hill, the song is about how to stay healthy and deadly during the wet, with some of the verse and chorus being sung in Kunwinkju. Big thanks to Sharna at West Arnhem Regional council for her 150% effort is driving us and the community around to make this deadly clip. With also a big thanks to Phyllis and Queenie for their help too. Thanks to the amazing song men and dancers from Injalak Arts for showing us and teaching us about their cultu...

We went to Maldives for our Honeymoon in August. We knew there was a chance that the weather could be bad but we had our hearts set on going and decided to take the chance! August is considered to be at the height of the South-West Monsoon Season. However, there are still 7 hours of sunshine most days. We experienced short and scattered rainfall a few days. The rain in the video was by far the heaviest and longest rainfall we experienced on our 12 day vacation. Overall, we felt that the weather was amazing. We were told that the sea tends to be slightly rougher and the visibility for diving is not quite as good as it is during the dry season. We did not notice violent seas but some days the visibility was on the poor side. This may be why we enjoyed our snorkeling experiences much more tha...

Driving from Mount Kenya in the rainy season. The coffee industry of Kenya is noted for its cooperative system of production, processing, milling, marketing, and auction system. About 70% of Kenyan coffee is produced by small- scale holders. It was estimated in 2012 that there were about 150,000 coffee and farmers in Kenya and other estimates are that six million Kenyans were employed directly or indirectly in the coffee industry. The major coffee-growing regions in Kenya are the high plateaus around Mt. Kenya, the Aberdare Range, Kisii, Nyanza, Bungoma, Nakuru, Kericho and to a smaller scale in Machakos and Taita hills in Eastern and coast provinces respectively. The acidic soil in highlands of central Kenya, just the right amount of sunlight and rainfall provide excellent conditions f...
This is as remote as it gets!! Care-taking the most remote tourist destination in Australia for 5 months over the Wet (Monsoonal) season, is not for the faint hearted! NO way out! During the dry/tourist season there are daily helicopter flights dropping off guests to Kimberley Coastal Camp, situated in the most far North West of Australia as you can get. But during the WET season the scenic flights stop and all helicopters leave the area. The only way to get there OR OUT, was (this option is no long available either) by the once a week Mail Plane flight from Kunnunarra to Mitchell Plateau. We got picked up in a very 'Kimberley' vehicle for the fun but rough road down to the bay, across the bay by tinny, we finally arrive at our home for the next 5 months. We, John Marven and myself K...

Just like a Toyota or a road train, pastures need some regular repair and maintenance to keep them running at their best. Increasingly, northern beef producers are asking for information and advice on wet season spelling. This webinar will cover some of the most common questions including: · Does wet season spelling work? · How often should I spell, and for how long? · Will I see results straight away? · What are the benefits to my bottom line? · Are there any pitfalls to watch out for? Join our presenters Dionne Walsh and Ross Peatling as they discuss these topics in this webinar recording.
They shot a man into the sky
The moon and stars became his bed
He saw the sun rise seven times
And when he came back down he said
It is one, it is one
One world spinning 'round the sun
Wherever it is you call home
Whatever country you come from
It is one, it is one, it is one, it is one
They shot a man if Africa
At a time of rivalry and war
He had some dreams of a good life
But dreams aren't what they killed him for
Now people stand themselves next to the righteous
And they believe the things they say are true
They speak in terms of what divides us
To justify the violence they do
But it is one, it is one
One world spinning 'round the sun
Wherever it is you call home
Whatever country you come from
It is one, it is one, it is one, it is one
One -- the deep blue ocean
One -- the endless sky
One -- the purple mountains
One -- you and I
It's not a world of our own choosing
We don'd decide where we are born
This life is a battleground between right and wrong
One way or other we are torn
And people stand themselves next to the righteous
And they believe the things they say are true
And speak in terms of what divides us
To justify the violence they do
But it is one, it is one
One world spinning 'round the sun
Wherever it is you call home
Whatever country you come from
It is one, it is one, it is one, it is one
It is one, it is one, it is one, it is one
One -- the deep blue ocean
One -- the endless sky
One -- the purple mountains
One -- you and I
