England and Wales (Welsh: Cymru a Lloegr) is a jurisdiction covering England and Wales, two of the four countries of the United Kingdom, which form the constitutional successor to the former Kingdom of England and follow a single legal system, known as English law.
The devolved National Assembly for Wales (Welsh: Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru) was created in 1999 by the Parliament of the United Kingdom under the Government of Wales Act 1998 and provides a degree of self-government in Wales. The powers of the Assembly were expanded by the Government of Wales Act 2006, which allows it to pass its own laws, and the Act also formally separated the Welsh Government from the Assembly. There is no equivalent body for England, which is directly governed by the Parliament and the government of the United Kingdom.
During the Roman occupation of Britain, the area of present-day England and Wales was administered as a single unit, with the exception of the land to the north of Hadrian's Wall. At that time, all the native inhabitants of Roman Britain spoke Brythonic languages, and were all regarded as Britons, divided into numerous tribes. After the conquest, the Romans administered this region as a single unit, the province of Britain.
Right of way is a term used to describe "the legal right, established by usage or grant, to pass along a specific route through grounds or property belonging to another", or "a path or thoroughfare subject to such a right". A similar right of access also exists on some public land in the United States and Canada, as well as Australia and New Zealand (where such land may alternatively be called Crown land).
In some countries, especially in Northern Europe, where the freedom to roam has historically taken the form of general public rights, a right of way may not be restricted to specific paths or trails. Alternatively, the right of way may be limited. When one person owns a piece of land which is bordered on all sides by lands owned by others, a court will be obliged to grant that person a right of way through the bordering land.
A further definition, chiefly in American transport, is that it is a type of easement granted or reserved over the land for transportation purposes, this can be for a highway, public footpath, railway, canal, as well as electrical transmission lines, oil and gas pipelines.
England i/ˈɪŋɡlənd/ is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. The Irish Sea lies northwest of England and the Celtic Sea lies to the southwest. England is separated from continental Europe by the North Sea to the east and the English Channel to the south. The country covers much of the central and southern part of the island of Great Britain, which lies in the North Atlantic; and includes over 100 smaller islands such as the Isles of Scilly, and the Isle of Wight.
The area now called England was first inhabited by modern humans during the Upper Palaeolithic period, but takes its name from the Angles, one of the Germanic tribes who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries. England became a unified state in the 10th century, and since the Age of Discovery, which began during the 15th century, has had a significant cultural and legal impact on the wider world. The English language, the Anglican Church, and English law – the basis for the common law legal systems of many other countries around the world – developed in England, and the country's parliamentary system of government has been widely adopted by other nations. The Industrial Revolution began in 18th-century England, transforming its society into the world's first industrialised nation.
Wales (i/ˈweɪlz/; Welsh: Cymru [ˈkəm.rɨ]) is a country that is part of the United Kingdom and the island of Great Britain, bordered by England to its east, the Irish Sea to its north and west, and the Bristol Channel to its south. It had a population in 2011 of 3,063,456 and has a total area of 20,779 km2 (8,023 sq mi). Wales has over 1,680 miles (2,700 km) of coastline and is largely mountainous, with its higher peaks in the north and central areas, including Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), its highest summit. The country lies within the north temperate zone and has a changeable, maritime climate.
Welsh national identity emerged among the Celtic Britons after the Roman withdrawal from Britain in the 5th century, and Wales is regarded as one of the modern Celtic nations. Llywelyn ap Gruffudd's death in 1282 marked the completion of Edward I of England's conquest of Wales, though Owain Glyndŵr briefly restored independence to what was to become modern Wales, in the early 15th century. The whole of Wales was annexed by England and incorporated within the English legal system under the Laws in Wales Acts 1535–1542. Distinctive Welsh politics developed in the 19th century. Welsh Liberalism, exemplified in the early 20th century by Lloyd George, was displaced by the growth of socialism and the Labour Party. Welsh national feeling grew over the century; Plaid Cymru was formed in 1925 and the Welsh Language Society in 1962. Established under the Government of Wales Act 1998, the National Assembly for Wales holds responsibility for a range of devolved policy matters.

As we open up the paths, nature closes them behind us. This is a familiar story for many rights of way across the UK. In Powys, there are over 6000 miles of footpaths, bridleways and other routes with public access across the largest county in England and Wales. There are two national trails in Powys, the Offas Dyke and Glyndwrs Way, both world class walking trails. But off the beaten trail, there are a number of stunning paths and trails that see less footfall, managing these paths to remain clear and open is a big undertaking. Across Powys, there are a number of volunteers supporting Powys' Rights of Way Officers. They are clearing paths and building bridges to make the whole experience of walking in this great county a pleasurable one. In this film, Phil Stallard, Countryside Access ...

They tend to be rarely used don't they.. We interact OK on Byway and ORPA don't we?... Most of the folk on the Horse and Hound tack room forum are PRO motorcycle trail riders, and realise we are just enjoying our hobby the same as them. This is a rough farm track I use regularly to cut out a rather busy road. It goes right past Man Utd's training ground, but the OS maps clearly show that it's a public right of way. There's some construction work going on at Man Utd's training ground right now so I think that's why these guys have been here the last few days. One of them says that I'm not allowed to cycle down this lane, as it's a "private road". Looks like someone's never seen a green dashed line on an OS map then.

Colourful compartments.
Desert island views.
Elusive in England.
Forget the fabrications.
Give us all a clue.
Have faith in horizon.
Intercity interlude.
Jack and Jill rub tigh's and think it's rude.
Keeping close along the line.
Lovers losing sense of time.
In England... In England... In England... In England...
(Ooooooooo taht's nice. Oooooooooo Paradise).
Many manifestons.
Nailed up on the wall.
Out of the blue... Only for you.
Printed regulations.
Quick to disapprove.
Restrictions restrictions.
Skin and bones can't find a way.
To keep British blues a bay.
Underneath the surface laughter.
Voices quiver in the dark.
In England... In England... In England... In England...
(Ooooooooo that's nice. Oooooooooo Paradise).
