National may refer to:
Huntington Beach is a seaside city in Orange County in Southern California. The city is named after American businessman Henry E. Huntington. The population was 189,992 during the 2010 census, making it the most populous beach city in Orange County and the seventh most populous city in the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim MSA. Its estimated 2014 population was 200,809. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the southwest, by Seal Beach on the northwest, by Costa Mesa on the east, by Newport Beach on the southeast, by Westminster on the north, and by Fountain Valley on the northeast.
Huntington Beach (locally initialized "HB") is known for its long 9.5-mile (15.3 km) stretch of sandy beach, mild climate, excellent surfing, and beach culture. The ocean waves are enhanced by a natural effect caused by the edge-diffraction of open ocean swells around Santa Catalina Island. Swells generated predominantly from the North Pacific in winter and from a combination of Southern Hemisphere storms and hurricanes in the summer focus on Huntington Beach, creating consistent surf all year long, hence the nickname "Surf City".
This video features a 70+ year-old National Amplifier that was built in the very early 1940's utilizing a National Dobro electrodynamic speaker, probably left over from N.D. amp production in the late 1930's. It is in amazingly good condition, almost completely original (other than two capacitors and a power cord), and still functions perfectly. If you enjoy videos featuring classic vintage amplifiers and jukeboxes, please consider subscribing to my channel, to obtain immediate access to over 40 similar videos, and to be notified each time new videos are posted. 1995 CNN feature on the Dobro brand resonator guitar featuring Michael Replogle (Mike Replogle), General Manager of the Original Musical Instrument Company (OMI) in Huntington Beach, California (Dobro is a registered trademark and OMI was a division of Gibson Guitar Corporation ). Includes footage of the manufacturing process.
The Dobro is a particular brand of resonator guitar. The Dobro was originally made by the Dopyera brothers when they formed the Dobro Manufacturing Company. Their design, with a single inverted resonator, was introduced in competition to the patented Tricone and biscuit designs produced by the National String Instrument Corporation. The Dobro name appeared on other instruments, notably electric lap-steel guitars and solid-body electric guitars and on other resonator instruments such as Safari resonator mandolins. Gibson Guitar Corporation acquired the Dobro trademark in 1994. Although the name Dobro is generically associated with the single-inverted-cone design, Gibson has announced that it would defend its right to exclusively use the name. This video is targeted to blind users. Attrib...
