  • Trump Budget Cuts Funding For National Institutes of Health

The 2018 budget proposal for the Trump administration has scientists alarmed. President Donald Trump's first budget released last week proposed to cut payments to the National Institutes of Health. The NIH helps universities, hospitals, and research institutes pay for research through federal grants. According to the budget, indirect cost payments will be cut by two-thirds, while each grant will be reduced by 10-percent. The change will allow the administration to redirect about $4.6 billion granted to researchers for maintaining labs and complying with regulations. The shift in policy is also expected to cut the NIH budget by 22-percent. http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2017/06/nih-plan-reduce-overhead-payments-draws-fire http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News usin...

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation's medical research agency—making important discoveries that improve health and save lives. Thanks in large part to NIH-funded medical research, Americans today are living longer and healthier. Life expectancy in the United States has jumped from 47 years in 1900 to 78 years as reported in 2009, and disability in people over age 65 has dropped dramatically in the past 3 decades. In recent years, nationwide rates of new diagnoses and deaths from all cancers combined have fallen significantly. His laboratory is being closed down, and he will no longer be involved in any experiments on animals: http://www.peta.org/blog/nih-ends-baby-monkey-experiments/. Shocking videos obtained by PETA show the National Institutes of Health (NIH) terrorizing baby monkeys it has intentionally bred to be mentally ill, wasting more than $30 million in taxpayer money. See the shocking facts here: http://investigations.peta.org/nih-baby-monkey-experiments/. Each year, dozens of monkeys are born at this NIH facility, many intentionally bred to be prone to mental illness. Half of the monkeys born each year are torn away from their mothers within hours of birth and never returned. Some infants are given a cloth-covered bottle as a "surrogate" mother. These motherless infants are more likely to suffer from severe anxiety, aggression, depression, diarrhea, hair loss, and other physical and mental illnesses as well as engaging in self-destructive behavior such as biting themselves and pulling out their own hair. The monkeys undergo years of terrifying and often painful experiments to worsen their symptoms of mental illness and test the severity of their psychological trauma. Currently, approximately 200 young monkeys are involved in the experiments. You can help these monkeys now: http://investigations.peta.org/nih-baby-monkey-experiments/. PETA has obtained documents, hundreds of photographs, and more than 500 hours of never-before-seen high-definition video footage taken inside this NIH facility between 2009 and 2012 detailing the psychological abuse of baby monkeys in disgustingly cruel and archaic experiments. The videos and photographs depict only a portion of the torment that these animals endure. Many of the monkeys are killed before the age of 8.
