The early 1980s saw the Arcade Game industry reach critical mass as its worth exploded to 8 billion (or 20 billion today), and riding on the success of its own hits like Donkey Kong, Nintendo entered the home console market with the 8-bit Family Computer. The Famicom, after overcoming some growing pains, swept through Japan like wildfire and became the best selling console. Nintendo would then turn its eye towards the West.
But before they could enter the US market, Nintendo needed an American partner to license and distribute their hit system, and that partner was industry vet Atari Inc. A preliminary deal was to be signed at the 1983 summer Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas… until Atari execs saw Donkey Kong on the Coleco Adam Computer at that very same CES show. Offended, Atari halted the agreement until Nintendo could reel in Coleco, but it was too late. Atari CEO Ray Kassar was fired for insider trading and the Nintendo deal was dead.
Now without a US distributor, Nintendo formed the subsidiary company Nintendo of America, and at the January 1985 CES show they unveiled the Nintendo Advanced Video Game System, but reception for the system was ice cold. The video game crash just two years earlier still had Americans spooked.
Nintendo went back to the drawing board, but this time they modeled the system design after video cassette recorders which were booming at the time. So just like how you would load a VHS tape into the front of a VCR, you would insert a game pak into the front of the Nintendo system. Very exciting!
To really cement the NES as an innovative product, Nintendo created ROB, the Robotic Operating Buddy, which made the system appear more like a fun toy and less like a complex entertainment system. Coupled with the Zapper light gun (because America loves its guns dammit!), Nintendo was poised for success.
The NES debuted on October 18th, 1985 in New York City and was an instant hit. By 1990, almost a third of all US households were playing with power! The video game industry would go on to make a miraculous recovery, and Nintendo its king… until a new challenger appeared. Have fun!

Star Wars
Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise, centered on a film series created by George Lucas. It depicts the adventures of various characters "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away".
The first film in the series, Star Wars (later subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope), was released on May 25, 1977 by 20th Century Fox and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. It was followed by the similarly successful sequels The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983); these three films constitute the original Star Wars trilogy. A prequel trilogy was later released between 1999 and 2005, which received a more mixed reaction from critics and fans, compared to the original trilogy. All seven films were nominated for or won Academy Awards, and were commercial successes, with a combined box office revenue of $4.38 billion, making Star Wars the fourth highest-grossing film series. Dark Souls
Dark Souls (ダークソウル, Dāku Sōru) is an action role-playing video game developed by FromSoftware. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and published by Namco Bandai Games internationally. A spiritual successor to FromSoftware's Demon's Souls and the second installment of the Souls series, Dark Souls began development under the working title of Project Dark. The game was released in Japan on September 22, 2011, and in North America, Australia, and Europe the following month. On August 24, 2012, the "Prepare to Die" edition of Dark Souls was released for PC, featuring additional content previously unavailable to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users. On October 23, 2012, the additional content from the PC version was released as downloadable content for consoles under the title Artorias of the Abyss.Dark Souls takes place in the fictional kingdom of Lordran. Star Wars canon
The term Star Wars canon refers to the collection of Star Wars media considered officially canon by Lucasfilm. Details regarding characters and events reflect the official depictions of the Star Wars story-line throughout the franchise.
Post-2014, the official Star Wars canon consists of the seven released Star Wars theatrical feature films, the Star Wars animated film and television series The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, and any other material released after April 25, 2014, unless otherwise stated.
History
When the Star Wars saga began, there was no initial formal organization of canon. The films, novelizations, comic books, newspaper comic strips, radio dramas, and spin-off novels were produced, but no standards of canon were set by George Lucas or Lucasfilm, Ltd.
With the creation of new Star Wars novels in early 1991 with Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire, the publishing department at Lucas Licensing set out with a new publishing strategy. Instead of stand-alone books where the events of one did not influence another, the new novels would tie into a continuous storyline. In the words of Lucas Licensing's managing editor Sue Rostoni, "Our goal is to present a continuous and unified history of the Star Wars galaxy, insofar as that history does not conflict with, or undermine the meaning of Mr. Lucas's Star Wars saga of films and screenplays."

But before they could enter the US market, Nintendo needed an American partner to license and distribute their hit system, and that partner was industry vet Atari Inc. A preliminary deal was to be signed at the 1983 summer Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas… until Atari execs saw Donkey Kong on the Coleco Adam Computer at that very same CES show. Offended, Atari halted the agreement until Nintendo could reel in Coleco, but it was too late. Atari CEO Ray Kassar was fired for insider trading and the Nintendo deal was dead.
Now without a US distributor, Nintendo formed the subsidiary company Nintendo of America, and at the January 1985 CES show they unveiled the Nintendo Advanced Video Game System, but reception for the system was ice cold. The video game crash just two years earlier still had Americans spooked.
Nintendo went back to the drawing board, but this time they modeled the system design after video cassette recorders which were booming at the time. So just like how you would load a VHS tape into the front of a VCR, you would insert a game pak into the front of the Nintendo system. Very exciting!
To really cement the NES as an innovative product, Nintendo created ROB, the Robotic Operating Buddy, which made the system appear more like a fun toy and less like a complex entertainment system. Coupled with the Zapper light gun (because America loves its guns dammit!), Nintendo was poised for success.
The NES debuted on October 18th, 1985 in New York City and was an instant hit. By 1990, almost a third of all US households were playing with power! The video game industry would go on to make a miraculous recovery, and Nintendo its king… until a new challenger appeared. Have fun!

The early 1980s saw the Arcade Game industry reach critical mass as its worth exploded to 8 billion (or 20 billion today), and riding on the success of its own hits like Donkey Kong, Nintendo entered the home console market with the 8-bit Family Computer. The Famicom, after overcoming some growing pains, swept through Japan like wildfire and became the best selling console. Nintendo would then turn its eye towards the West.
But before they could enter the US market, Nintendo needed an American partner to license and distribute their hit system, and that partner was industry vet Atari Inc. Hey guys, apologies for how long this one took to make, I will try to be quicker with these in future! So to anyone who has previously had a problem with Cowboy and his build videos... I hope this shows you that behind every annoying build, and behind every Gamertag that doesnt play exactly how you want them to play... There is a person, and in this case, that person just happened to help me set up my whole stream on Twitch on the first time we ever spoke. Like myself, Cowboy has a very open mind to souls games, and isnt bound by the imaginary rulebook of the community honour kids, and IMO this is a healthy way to see the series, and video games as a whole.
