"I think a writer has to be bewildered in order to write. In other words, I look at the world and I go, 'This is how it seems to me, and I’m mystified that other people don’t see it this way.' So, to me, a play is a sort of proposition. It’s a proposal. You say to the audience, 'Hang on. This is how I see it. Does anybody out there recognize what I’m talking about?'" David Hare's work includes the screenplay for "The Hours" and the play “Skylight,” which won the 2015 Tony Award for best revival on Broadway. Watch the full interview on PBS on November 26th, 2015.

Based on behind the scenes observations of the Labour Party leadership during their unsuccessful General Election campaign of the 1992. The central character, party leader George Jones, is so smothered and constricted by his cautious advisers that eventually none of the great talents that brought him to prominence are visible to the public. Adapted from David Hare's 1993 play for the National Theatre.
