Welcome to the capital city of one of the most densely populated countries in the world! Dhaka is the city with tough conditions for survival. Residents confront the same challenges as in a modern metropolis and are concerned about personal safety. A high share of economically active population creates fierce competition for a decent job, so locals have to struggle for a good place under the sun. Everyone who is driven by strong motivation has a fair chance to change one’s life for the better.
A group of InstaForex delegates arrived in Bangladesh aiming to present the system of personal development for a financially literate individual. We hope that InstaForex contribution to the development of financial literacy in Bangladesh will be recognized and many people here will improve their wealth status working in the financial markets.

In December 2014, I spent several days in this city, and was at times overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the place. Gladly, the people I met along the way were usually incredibly friendly and helpful.
In this video, there are shots of the Buriganga river that meanders through the city, clips from the streets, people at work, a shipyard, one of the busy bazaars, the Baital Mukarram mosque during Friday prayer, and Ramna Park where Dhaka's youth come to play cricket.

Dhaka
Dhaka (Bengali: ঢাকা, pronounced: [ˈd̪ʱaka]; English /dɑːkə/, /dækə/; formerly spelled as Dacca) is the capital of Bangladesh. It is the principal city of Dhaka District and Dhaka Division. Dhaka is one of world's most populated cities, with a population of about 7 million people. The Greater Dhaka Area covers a population of 17 million people. The historic quarter of Dhaka stands on the east bank of the Buriganga River. It is located in the central part of the Bengal delta. Bengali Muslims make up the majority of the population, followed by Bengali Hindu, Bengali Buddhist, Bengali Christian and Bahai Faith communities.
The city's name was Jahangir Nagar (City of Jahangir) in the 17th century. It was the Mughal capital of Bengal for 75 years; and flourished in trade and culture as a cosmopolitan commercial capital and the hub of the worldwide muslin and silk trade. The city hosted two major caravansaries of the subcontinent: the Bara Katra and Choto Katra, located on the riverfront of the Buriganga. The Mughals decorated the city with well-laid out gardens, tombs, mosques, palaces and forts. Dhaka became known as the City of Mosques in Bengal. It was also described as the Venice of the East. The old city was home to various Eurasian merchant groups. At the height of its medieval glory, Dhaka was regarded as one of the wealthiest and most prosperous cities in the world. It was central to the economy of Mughal Bengal, which generated 50% of Mughal GDP.

The internet in Bangladesh was very 'dial up' like and I only just got good wifi now (on my last day here), so I thought I'd upload the first blog of my Bangladesh series now. So, saying goodbye to my dad after 10 awesome days, and saying hello to my lover, Bowen for another 10 days! I haven't seen him in 8 weeks or so, so it was pretty amazing seeing him again! Dhaka, set beside the Buriganga River, is the capital City of Bangladesh. It’s a hub for trade and culture, with a long history as a seat of government. In the 17th century, it was the Mughal capital of Bengal, and many palaces and mosques from that period remain. American architect Louis Kahn's National Parliament House complex typifies this fast-growing modern metropolis.
In Dhaka’s old city, grand, 17th-century Lalbagh Fort contains a museum of paintings, weapons and decorative arts. The Dhakeshwari Temple is the focus of the city’s Hindu community. The National Museum traces Bangladesh’s natural, religious and political history. Graphic displays at the Liberation War Museum reveal the horrors of the 1971 War of Independence. The elaborate 19th-century Ahsan Manzil, or Pink Palace, stands beside the river. Wooden boats offer trips on the water from the busy Sadarghat boat terminal, the heart of traditional riverside life. Colorful painted rickshaws are the city’s main mode of transport.
