Nightmare (French band)

Nightmare is a power metal band, native of Grenoble, France. The band was influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal phenomenon developing in the UK in the 1980s and started their career playing classic heavy metal, that later changed to power metal with death and thrash influences.

Biography

Early career

Nightmare was formed in 1979 and became known when opened for Def Leppard at the Alpexpo of Grenoble in 1983, in front of an audience of more than 4000. They signed for the label Ebony Records, which published the album Waiting for the Twilight. The LP entered the charts in Japan and was distributed in Greece by Virgin Records. Nightmare replaced singer Christophe Houpert with Jean-Marie Boix to record their second album Power of the Universe. Shortly after, the band terminated its partnership with Ebony Records and the album was reissued in France by Dream Records. Their new label was soon subjected to financial difficulties, which delayed the release of an LP the band was working on. In addition, Jean-Marie Boix was forced to leave the band because of health problems. He was replaced by Scottish singer Tom Jackson (ex- Praying Mantis), hoping that his vocal qualities and his mastery of the English language could help the success of Nightmare on the other side of the Channel. This incarnation of Nightmare produced a demo with two songs and did a few shows in France and England, with moderate success. However, dissension between the musicians about the musical direction for the band, whose music was veering toward AOR, led to disbandment in 1987, closing for more than a decade the career of Nightmare.

Main characters

Kirby

Kirby (カービィ, Kābī) is a pink "puffball" who has been the star of a number of namesake games developed by HAL Laboratory. Kirby has appeared in over twenty games since 1992 and has starred in his own animated series. The Kirby series has sold over 33 million units worldwide. The core games of the series are platformers. The villains he encounters typically threaten his home of Dream Land (プププランド, Pupupu Rando, "Pupupu Land") on the planet Pop Star, most often the greedy King Dedede or the mysterious Meta Knight. The main games always have Kirby with the same basic abilities; he can walk, run, jump, float, and inhale and spit out or swallow his enemies. Following Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby was able to gain the abilities of the enemies he swallowed, such as Fire, Sword, Fighter, and Cutter. Kirby also can spit water out of his mouth while underwater. Kirby also has had his own anime.

Nightmare (2000 film)

Nightmare (Hangul: 가위; RR: Gawi; lit. "Scissors", also known as Horror Game Movie) is a South Korean horror film, released in 2000. It stars Kim Gyu-ri, Ha Ji-won and Choi Jung-yoon, and was directed and written by Ahn Byeong-ki, who also later directed Phone (2002), Bunshinsaba (2004) and APT (2006) The film was the 6th best selling film of 2000 with 322,000 admissions in Seoul after 5 weeks of screening.

Plot

A clique of six friends separate after their graduation from college: Hye-jin continues to pursue her tertiary education, Seon-ae moves to the United States, Jung-wook works as a lawyer, Se-hun opens an art studio while preparing for his directorial debut, Mi-ryeong becomes an actress, and Hyun-jun is stuck as a construction worker due to the cast on his leg. Seon-ae returns home and tells Hye-jin and Se-hun about the deceased Kyung-ah pursuing her. Back when they were in college, the clique decided to include a new member, Eun-ju, whom Hye-jin befriended at a botanical garden. Hyun-jun fell in love with her at first sight, much to the disappointment of Seon-ae, who was in love with him. Seon-ae made Eun-ju a scapegoat for the misfortunes that the clique experienced and correctly deduced her as Kyung-ah, a girl from Seon-ae and Hye-jin's past who became an outcast for apparently causing problems around her, including the death of Hye-jin's father. Eun-ju apparently committed suicide by jumping from a building after Hye-jin rejected her.

Chameleon (film)

Chameleon is a 1995 direct-to-video film starring Anthony LaPaglia. The film is directed by Michael Pavone. Pavone wrote and produced the film with Dave Alan Johnson.

Plot

When agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration are ambushed during a raid, Agent Matt Gianni suspects a leak and asks his boss Stuart Langston to enlist an outside agent. Langston brings in Willie Serling, who is a master of disguises and whose family was killed by Alberto Cortese, a drug smuggler. Langston sends Serling to jail undercover to investigate a drug operation possibly run by Cortese.

While in jail, Serling disguises himself as a computer expert and recovers critical bank records. Gianni frees him from jail and sends him to a bank to pose an auditor and follow up on the records. Serling investigates bank executive Jill Hallmann but begins dating her. He finds out that another executive, Morris Steinfeld, is the one involved in criminal activity. Steinfeld finds out that he is being investigated and reports to bank president Jason Ainsley, who informs Cortese of the investigation. Cortese kills Ainsley and also gets Steinfeld killed. Serling, who is targeted next, disguises himself as a hobo and is able to shoot Cortese first, though he does not kill him.

Chameleon (composition)

"Chameleon" is a jazz standard composed by Herbie Hancock in collaboration with Bennie Maupin, Paul Jackson and Harvey Mason, all of whom also performed the original 15'44" version on the 1973 landmark album Head Hunters featuring solos by Hancock and Maupin.

The song has a characteristic bass line and is set to a funk beat. For the most part, the song is built entirely on a two-chord vamp: a I-IV in B♭ Dorian (B♭m7 and E♭7).

The piece is one of the most widely recognized jazz standards, and has become standard repertoire in most small jazz ensembles. Sting (musical phrase)

A sting is a short musical phrase, primarily used in broadcasting and films as a form of punctuation. For example, a sting might be used to introduce a regular section of a show, indicate the end of a scene, or indicate that a dramatic climax is imminent.

It can be played on a variety of instruments and performed by a group or orchestral ensemble.

Another form of sting, often mistakenly called a rimshot, is used only in comedy and played just on percussion instruments (such as drums or cymbals) as a payoff after the delivery of a punchline.

Special Task Force On Organised Crime

Special Task Force On Organised Crime (STAFOC) (Malay: Pasukan Tugas Khas Melawan Jenayah Terancang) are the special response units of the Royal Malaysia Police. STAFOC are full-time units whose members do not perform any other duties, and are essentially the equivalent of British SO-19, German SEK and US Capital Police SWAT teams. The comparable unit of the RMP is the Pasukan Gerakan Khas.

Organization

The organization of special police forces was formed following the Home Ministry’s meeting with the RMP on August 22, 2013 and formed in January 01, 2014 to meet the challenges of a more sophisticated and violent trend in organised crime. The best in criminal investigation will be in the frontline as police take a major step to fight organised crime which comprises 400 officers, led by a deputy commissioner, will be equally divided and placed with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Narcotics Crimes Investigations Department (NCID). They operating on the concept of “Intelligence Led Policing and Aggressive Action on Organised Crime” — will focus specifically on serious crimes including illegal syndicates, gangsterism, gambling, vice, human trafficking, prostitution and drug gangs. STAFOC will operate directly from Bukit Aman, but will be deployed throughout the country to be part of raids and tactical operations.
