A platoon is a military unit typically composed of more than two squads / sections / patrols. Platoon organization varies depending on the country and the branch, but typically a platoon consists of around 15 to 30 soldiers. A platoon leader or commander is the officer in command of a platoon. This person is usually a junior officer — a second or first lieutenant or an equivalent rank. The officer is usually assisted by a platoon sergeant. A platoon is the smallest military unit led by a commissioned officer.
Platoons normally consist of three or four sections (Commonwealth) or squads (US). In some armies, platoon is used throughout the branches of the army. In others, such as the British Army and other Commonwealth armies, platoons are associated with the infantry. In a few armies, such as the French Army, a platoon is specifically a cavalry unit, and the infantry use "section" as the equivalent unit.
A unit of consisting of several platoons is called a company / battery / troop.
William Oliver Stone (born September 15, 1946) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. Stone came to public prominence between the mid-1980s and the early 1990s for writing and directing a series of films about the Vietnam War, in which he had participated as an infantry soldier. Many of Stone's films primarily focus on controversial American political issues during the late 20th century, and as such that they were considered dangerous at the times of their releases.
Stone's films often combine different camera and film formats within a single scene as evidenced in JFK, Natural Born Killers, and Nixon. Stone has received three Academy Awards for his work on the films Midnight Express, Platoon, and Born on the Fourth of July. He was presented with the Extraordinary Contribution to Filmmaking Award at the 2007 Austin Film Festival.

In the 2000s, Sheen became best known for his television roles. He replaced Michael J. Fox in Spin City and his performance earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy and then starred in Two and a Half Men which earned him several Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations. He most recently starred in the FX comedy series Anger Management, which concluded its 100-episode run in 2014. In 2010, Sheen was the highest paid actor on television and earned US$1.8 million per episode of Two and a Half Men.

In high school, he acquired the nickname Willem. His father's ancestry is French-Canadian, Swiss, and English, and his mother's ancestry is German, Irish, and Scottish.

A wonderful documentary on the making of Oliver Stone's "Platoon." It features full interviews with all the major cast members and their experiences in the Philippines preparing for the film.
Fighting for country. At war with themselves. A contemporary trailer for Oliver Stone's Oscar-winning 1986 Vietnam War movie "Platoon". This is a fan-made trailer, so please tell me what you think. How do you cut a better trailer than the outdated original? Start by dropping right into the jungle and setting up a central problem: these soldiers know that they're losing the war to an enemy they rarely even see. Introduce characters and build the ominous atmosphere so that the transition into battle feels chaotic. Capture the moral and physical conflicts between members of the platoon, and hint at a major falling-out between Barnes and Elias. Leading into the climax, slow things down with music that evokes the film's majesty but also amplifies the intensity. Anchor it all with a solid copy ...
One of my favourite movies. Stg Barnes takes away the movie with these two scenes. I boosted the brightness in both scenes so you could better pick up on the facial cues. These are normally dark scenes, but I felt you couldnt' quite appreciate the nuances of their facial expressions without the larger context of the film. So I made it brighter for you, which works better for YouTube.
One of my favorite scenes. http://www.facebook.com/dusometin

We started out in a double wide
Had to hang out clothes out on the line
We even had your mom and dad co-sign
We used to ride around downtown singing
Money can't buy you love when times are rough
We just kept goin', when the goin' got tough
Can't shake us can't break us separate us
'Cause we've been through it all
We're at our best, when our backs against the wall
It ain't always been a honeymoon
Sometimes it feels like we're dancin' to a different tune
That's when you and me need a little breathin' room
But when we're rockin' don't come knockin'
We want to be left alone all night long
Makin' up till it feels home sweet home
Can't shake us cant break us separate us
'Cause we've been through it all
We're at our best when our backs against the wall
We start out with a kiss in the hall
And end up holdin' each other tight
