Yale University is an American private Ivy League research university in New Haven, Connecticut. Founded in 1701 in Saybrook Colony as the Collegiate School, the University is the third-oldest institution of higher education in the United States. The school was renamed Yale College in 1718 in recognition of a gift from Elihu Yale, who was governor of the British East India Company. In 1731, received a further gift of land and slaves from Bishop Berkeley. Established to train Congregationalist ministers in theology and sacred languages, by 1777 the school's curriculum began to incorporate humanities and sciences and in the 19th century gradually incorporated graduate and professional instruction, awarding the first Ph.D. in the United States in 1861 and organizing as a university in 1887.
Yale is organized into fourteen constituent schools: the original undergraduate college, the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and twelve professional schools. While the university is governed by the Yale Corporation, each school's faculty oversees its curriculum and degree programs. In addition to a central campus in downtown New Haven, the University owns athletic facilities in western New Haven, including the Yale Bowl, a campus in West Haven, Connecticut, and forest and nature preserves throughout New England. The university's assets include an endowment valued at $25.6 billion as of September 2015, the second largest of any educational institution in the world.
The Ivy League is a collegiate athletic conference comprising sports teams from eight private institutions of higher education in the Northeastern United States. The conference name is also commonly used to refer to those eight schools as a group. The eight institutions are Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, and Yale University. The term Ivy League has connotations of academic excellence, selectivity in admissions, and social elitism.
While the term was in use as early as 1933, it only became official after the formation of the NCAA Division I athletic conference in 1954. Seven of the eight schools were founded during the United States colonial period; the exception is Cornell, which was founded in 1865. Ivy League institutions account for seven of the nine Colonial Colleges chartered before the American Revolution, the other two being Rutgers University and College of William & Mary.

In 2015, video of Yale's "shrieking girl" screaming at professor Nicholas Christakis over a Halloween costume email went viral. A year later, Dr. Christakis and his wife Erika had both left their positions. In this mini-documentary We the Internet TV filmmaker Rob Montz heads to that university to investigate what Yale has become. Subscribe to We the Internet for more free speech documentaries. Watch Silence U Part 1 at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5uaVFfX3AQ . The story began in October 2015, when Yale's Intercultural Affairs Committee sent an email broadly outlining the kinds of Halloween costumes that were and weren't appropriate (this letter can be seen in full at https://www.thefire.org/email-from-intercultural-affairs/ ). In response, Professor Erika Christakis - the wife of Nic...

Yale student campus tour guides on what makes a great campus tour.
15TH DECEMBER - DAY 5 We left beautiful Boston today to head to New York City via Yale University. We were lucky enough to catch a tour around the campus :) After a stressful drive (city driving argh!) we returned the hire car and headed to our hotel (room tour!!), which was huge (more like an apartment!) with amazing views. Had just enough energy to catch an eat to bite at a nearby restaurant before hitting snoozeville. Please like and subscribe to see more :) Check out other videos in this series: Day 4 - BackBay, Quincy Market & Harbourfront (Boston) - http://youtu.be/KLRAs0qgnHo Day 3 - Harvard Uni, MIT & the Nutcracker (Boston) - http://youtu.be/X1PhtOZGCwM Day 2 - Beacon Hill &The; Freedom Trail (Boston)- http://youtu.be/fbKOjHeDoWU Day 1 - London to Boston - http://youtu.be/xLDI1m...
This was the first time I "GOT" the value of an Ivy League education. Not that I ever disparaged one before, but this tour and the information expressed gave me an insight into how cool going to a college like Yale could be. I sort of wish I could do it all over again!
For more information about Professor Shankar's book based on the lectures from this course, Fundamentals of Physics: Mechanics, Relativity, and Thermodynamics, visit http://bit.ly/1jFIqNu. Fundamentals of Physics, II (PHYS 201) Waves on a string are reviewed and the general solution to the wave equation is described. Maxwell's equations in their final form are written down and then considered in free space, away from charges and currents. It is shown how to verify that a given set of fields obeys Maxwell's equations by considering them on infinitesimal cubes and loops. A simple form of the solutions is assumed and the parameters therein fitted using Maxwell's equations. The wave equation follows, along with the wave speed equal to that of light (3 x 10^8), suggesting (correctly) that lig...
Considering the traditional rivalry, I wanted to see what a Yalie thought about Harvard and its students.
Wakker om half vijf, weer nen halven dag voorbij
(fucking houten kop)
