Sardinia
Sardinia (/sɑːrˈdɪniə/ sar-DIN-ee-ə; Italian: Sardegna [sarˈdeɲɲa], Sardinian: Sardìgna / Sardìnnia [sarˈdiɲɲa] / [sarˈdinja], Sassarese: Sardhigna, Gallurese: Saldigna, Catalan: Saldenya, Tabarchino: Sardegna) is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily and before Cyprus) and an autonomous region of Italy, which goes by the official name of Regione Autonoma della Sardegna / Regione Autònoma de Sardigna (Autonomous Region of Sardinia).
The nearest land masses are (clockwise from north) the island of Corsica, the Italian Peninsula, Sicily, Tunisia, the Balearic Islands, and Provence. The Tyrrhenian Sea portion of the Mediterranean Sea is directly to the east of Sardinia between the Sardinian east coast and the west coast of the Italian mainland peninsula. The Strait of Bonifacio is directly north of Sardinia and separates Sardinia from the French island of Corsica.
The region has its capital in its largest city, Cagliari, and is divided into eight provinces. Its indigenous language and the other minority languages (Sassarese, Corsican Gallurese, Catalan Algherese and Ligurian Tabarchino) enjoy "equal dignity" with Italian each in the concerned territory by a regional law.

Guettarda
Guettarda is a plant genus in the family Rubiaceae. Most of these plants are known by the common name Velvetseed. Estimates of the number of species range from about 50 to 162. Most of the species are neotropical. Twenty are found in New Caledonia and one reaches Australia. A few others are found on islands and in coastal areas of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
Three species (G. odorata, G. scabra, G. speciosa) are known in cultivation.Guettarda argentea provides edible fruit. The type species for the genus is Guettarda speciosa. It is a tree of coastal habitats, up to 18 m (59 ft) in height. It is grown as an ornamental.
Guettarda was named by Linnaeus in 1753 in his book Species Plantarum. This generic name is in honour of the 18th century French naturalist Jean-Étienne Guettard.
The genus Guettarda is much in need of revision. Molecular phylogenetic studies have found it to be several times polyphyletic with some of its clades paraphyletic over small genera.

The rich history of their unique language, perhaps the only one in Europe related to proto-Basque, and their genetic lineages that preserve Western European Farmer ancestry thousands of years after the rest of Europe had been influenced by steppe haplogroups, make the modern Sards some of the most ancient people we know.

Que fruto é esse? (Guettarda)
Olá! Hoje vamos falar de frutos do gênero Guettarda, conhecidos como Veludinhos, e que pertencem à família Rubiaceae. De acordo com a Flora do Brasil, há 19 espécies de Guettarda descritas no país, sendo que 3 delas ocorrem do bioma Cerrado, como Guettarda viburnoides, conhecida como Veludo-branco, e Guettarda pohliana ou Veludo-vermelho. Os frutos dessas espécies são comestíveis por nós e apresentam uma polpa branca adocicada, envolvendo um único caroço, e cobertos por uma casca aveludada. Eles também são atrativos para fauna, como morcegos, quatis, marsupiais e primatas, que fazem a dispersão das sementes. As flores geralmente são brancas e tubulosas, sendo polinizadas por mariposas. This island was claimed in antiquity by the Bell Beaker people, the Ozieri, and the mysterious Nuragic empire with their tremendous towers and structures called nuraghe, some of which are among the oldest surviving structures in the world.
More recently, Sardinia was claimed by the Greeks and the Phoenecians, the Romans and Carthaginians, the Vandals and Ostrogoths... The rich history of their unique language, perhaps the only one in Europe related to proto-Basque, and their genetic lineages that preserve Western European Farmer ancestry thousands of years after the rest of Europe had been influenced by steppe haplogroups, make the modern Sards some of the most ancient people we know.

Sardinia
Sardinia (/sɑːrˈdɪniə/ sar-DIN-ee-ə; Italian: Sardegna [sarˈdeɲɲa], Sardinian: Sardìgna / Sardìnnia [sarˈdiɲɲa] / [sarˈdinja], Sassarese: Sardhigna, Gallurese: Saldigna, Catalan: Saldenya, Tabarchino: Sardegna) is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily and before Cyprus) and an autonomous region of Italy, which goes by the official name of Regione Autonoma della Sardegna / Regione Autònoma de Sardigna (Autonomous Region of Sardinia).
The nearest land masses are (clockwise from north) the island of Corsica, the Italian Peninsula, Sicily, Tunisia, the Balearic Islands, and Provence. The Tyrrhenian Sea portion of the Mediterranean Sea is directly to the east of Sardinia between the Sardinian east coast and the west coast of the Italian mainland peninsula. The Strait of Bonifacio is directly north of Sardinia and separates Sardinia from the French island of Corsica.
The region has its capital in its largest city, Cagliari, and is divided into eight provinces. Its indigenous language and the other minority languages (Sassarese, Corsican Gallurese, Catalan Algherese and Ligurian Tabarchino) enjoy "equal dignity" with Italian each in the concerned territory by a regional law.

Olá! Hoje vamos falar de frutos do gênero Guettarda, conhecidos como Veludinhos, e que pertencem à família Rubiaceae. De acordo com a Flora do Brasil, há 19 espécies de Guettarda descritas no país, sendo que 3 delas ocorrem do bioma Cerrado, como Guettarda viburnoides, conhecida como Veludo-branco, e Guettarda pohliana ou Veludo-vermelho. Os frutos dessas espécies são comestíveis por nós e apresentam uma polpa branca adocicada, envolvendo um único caroço, e cobertos por uma casca aveludada. Eles também são atrativos para fauna, como morcegos, quatis, marsupiais e primatas, que fazem a dispersão das sementes. As flores geralmente são brancas e tubulosas, sendo polinizadas por mariposas. Guettarda speciosa, with common names sea randa, or zebra wood, is a species of shrub in the family Rubiaceae found in coastal habitats in tropical areas around the Pacific Ocean, including the coastline of central and northern Queensland and Northern Territory in Australia, and Pacific Islands, including Micronesia, French Polynesia and Fiji, Malaysia and Indonesia, Maldives and the east coast of Africa. It reaches 6 m in height, has fragrant white flowers, and large green prominently-veined leaves. It grows in sand above the high tide mark.
